#2529Boys I've seen this a million times, pro sports teams go on epic runs and lose in the end. Patriots 07 they win every game in the season and fall when it matters. The Blackhawks are a very solid team but take out one of the top 3 forwards due to injury and they won't win a thingComment -

#2531Couldn't agree more with you guys. The higher you get the harder you fall.
I'll definitely sprinkle a bit of money on whoever ends up the #8 seed to win the series. I'm sure the odds will be through the roof.
Here's my take on this and I'm not taking anything away from the Hawks I mean this is just an epic run but if they don't start losing they will forget how to cope with a losing streak. So if this streak continues to say near the end of March and then they finally loses a game here then loses a game there and then to some plumber teams like Columbus and then becomes a slump they won't have any motivation to get going again.
They've locked up #1 by a mile, locked up home court, they don't have to chase anybody, the record streak is over, playing timid to try not to get hurt. Prime examples are the New England Patriots and Miami Heat and the New York Yankees.Comment -

#2532That's what i keep telling myself... but i see them steamrolling the whole western conference every night.
Just like last year when LA Kings were steamrolling through 1st 2 rounds, i knew they were going to win the cup.Comment -

#2544Steam rolling? Hardly, remember nobody talks about Chicago if Calgary holds on for 2.4 more seconds way back on game 9 of the year plus there barely beating teams. If it wasn't for that horseshoe lodged up there ass they would have 4-5 losses my now. Avalanche in a slightly better form with the same player beat chi last night. Chi won't win the cup. If
Carolina will win it , of course if the Canucks don't that is.
And yes, i do believe the hawks have been steamrolling teams. They have a +32 goal differential through 24 games. +32 goal differential at this point in the season is insane. Sure, some of games were close, but going 21-0-3 with a +32 goal differential and 1.92 GAA is still an amazing record. Especially in a tough western conference.Comment -

#2545If the totals 6, I prefer 1st period overs. I look at history and goals per period. Some teams start fast then fade and vice versa. Tampa for example usually starts slow then goes berserk in the 3rd so I prefer their game totals. Plus rivalry games tend to start off fast then slow down in the 2nd once the emotions are out.Comment -

#2546yea that's what i keep telling myself. The NHL playoffs are WIDE OPEN. Not like other sports. But, it's tough to sit here and say any particular team in west is going to beat hawks in 7 game series.

A fully healthy Blackhawks team lost to Van in Van with no Kessler or booth. I watched Chicago with no hossa last night. They were lucky to win. Pitt a healthy van and LA could dethrone chicagoComment -

#2549Some good convo going on. I agree with a few posts in here, in that Hawks have been doing the minimum necessary to win, though they go off on occasion. They are playing down to their competition instead of playing to their full potential. Unless they go on a small losing streak, that tests their mettle and gives them a taste of adversity, they are not going to peak come playoff time. It's all about peaking at the right time and you see it across sports, especially where the scores are harder to come by and it takes a team effort to do so. In short, I think this streak has the potential to hurt the Hawks' Stanley Cup chances rather than help them. Should be interesting to see how the rest of the reg season plays out.Comment -

#2550DG what do you think about Winnipeg/TB and Buffalo/NJ. Montoya is kind of a question mark playing 2 games this year with a split O/U count. I think this has a good shot of going O5.5 but I'm not sure on Winnipegs scoring ability.
Buffalo is playing Enroth who has an abysmal GAA. Devils will be without Brodeur again so both teams have low-tier goaltending but neither one seems to be scoring much at the moment.Comment -

Yes, hawks lost in OT of game 7 vs. the nucks the year VAN made a really deep run in playoffs. but they also won the stanley cup. Maybe crawford has matured as player after losing last 2 years, and ready to make a good run this year. It's too early to tell. who knows. But the hawks have been winning every night for a while. His numbers this season are outstanding. .940 save %. It's only 14 games, but that's unbelievable.Comment -
