#142Folks, here is what I will be playing today - not a big card as I don't see much I like.
Hotelis, hard for me to fade Dinamo when their away record is almost as bed as Donbass's home one... That is just an ugly match where they may both forfeit to each other. I will keep you tip in my back pocket for future matches though and appreciate you sharing.
CZECH REPUBLIC: Extraliga
12:10pm Kladno -1 vs Trinec (-120 Bet 365) 3 units

F - Roman Cervenka to HC Kladno 23G, 16A for Omsk
Trinec
D - Rostislav Klesla to HC Ocelari Trinec 3G, 10A for Phoenix
This match features 2 high ranking 3rd & 2nd respectively) teams that both have solid goal output & quality goaltending.
I don't like the 1.5 spread being offered as Trinec has solid goaltending - only gave up an average of 2.14 GPG. I do like the -1 alternate line for Kladno as I see Jagr's team has steadily improved with the large group of NHL'ers he has acquired and the addition of home ice advantage.
I also lean heavily on the under 6 (-120) alternate line being offered. I may play it, but it will be a game time decision.

RW - Nail Yakupov to Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk 31G, 38A in 42 games in OHL
Straight up we have 2 fairly evenly matched teams with Niznekamsk leading by 1 point in the standings -- but SKA has 2 games in hand so they could potentially be leading by 5.
I don't like the HC line, -1.5 for SKA with -143 odds - it looks like a trap.
I do like the over 5.5 (a little chaulky though) as both teams have gone over that mark YTD. Combined they are at 6.3 GPG / YTD.

#143Yesterday's update
CZECH REPUBLIC: Extraliga
12:30pm Sparta Prague vs Zlin +.5 (-125 Bet365) 3 units --Winner Zlin easilt beats Sparta 4-1. I should have taken the ML at +135
Sparta 1W-1OTW-5L = 5 points
Zlin 3W-1OTW-1OTL-2L = 12 points
Sparta has lost their las 5 in a row. Their home record is 2L-1OTW (which ended 2-1 and was against Karlovy Vary an 11th place team). Sparts has added goaltending depth with G - Michal Neuvirth 2.82GAA 13-13-5 .902 SV%, but it has vet to pay off. The ML is a tempting +135, but i will play it a bit safer & take the 1/2 point.
Zlin is 3-2 in their last 5 and has an away record of 1-2, which is nothing to write home about. They are a 5th place team coming off an OTL to Chomutov (7th) and a loss to Liberec (12th). If their coach can't fire them up enough to beat the last place team in the league, maybe he should be selling hotdogs.
FINLAND: SM-liiga
11:30am Karpat Oulu vs Jokerit ML (+105 Bet365) 3 units--Loser Karpat doubled up on jokerit 4-2. Looks like my man Karlsson was a non-factor in the game. Jokerit outshot karpat 23-19, but their goalie was a sieve... 4 goals on 19 shots??? WTF!!! 4.75 GAA is very sad & out of character - I just checked his GAA & it was .303 for his first 6 games. Bad beat down. Someone should let them know that there are some NHL goalies looking for work.
Karpat 2W-4L = 6points
Jokerit 2W-1OTW-3L = 8 points
Karpat is 2-3 in their last 5 and coming off a loss to Blues Espoo (2nd place). Their home record is 1-2 with both of their losses coming from quality teams & their win was over Assat (7th place team). They have acquired a couple of ok players from the NHL:
D - Jason Demers 4G, 9A for San Jose
LW - Jussi Jokinen 12G, 34A for Carolina
Jokerit is one of the traditional 'Big Guns' in the Finnish League. In their last 5 games they are 2W-1OTW-2L. Their away record is a poor 1OTW (over Ilves Tampere - 11th place) & 2L both top of the league teams. That being said, management was able to acquire 'Top Gun' talent from the NHL to bolster the roster & the final addition of karlsson is the piece that's already paid off as he scored the opening goal in the last game - a win over Hameenlinna (6th place). I must admit that i am a little biased on this as I live in Ottawa. However, this kid is built for the large rink as he is compact & skates like a SOB - 78 points for a defenceman, getting the nod from Bobby Orr, & the Norris Trophy are something to write home about.
LW - Valtteri Filppula 23G, 43A in 81 games for Detroit
D - Erik Karlsson 19G, 59A in 81 games for Ottawa (Norris Award)
RUSSIA: KHL
12:00pm Dinamo Minsk ML vs Lokomotiv Yaroslavl (-105 Bet365) --Loser- Lokomotiv won 2-1. Varlamov put lokomotiv on his back & carried them through this game. Dinamo outshot Lokomotiv 39-27 in a losing effort. All the goals were scored early in the first (final goal was at 7:21 mark - I bet many folks lost on pile of cash live betting the over). I can't fault Rinne as allowing only 2 goals against a quality team is impressive. My call of a low scoring affair was bang-on 2-1 or 3-1 is what I predicted... should have take the under. --- Nice call by rich_24 on the Lokomotive win
Dinamo 4W-1OTW-6L = 14 points
Lokomotiv 6W-2OTW-2L = 22 points
Dinamo is 2-3 in their last 5 with an impressive home record of 3-1. I see this team as a climber - their latest addition, Pekka Rinne, is IMHO one of the top 5 goalies in the NHL. In his first appearance, he helped his team beat Atlant (currently 5th) straight up. He's the kind of goalie that inspires offence because the players have fiath that he will be able to pull them out of most jams. Two BIG thumbs up to MGT for acquiring him.
C - Mikhail Grabovski 23G, 28A for Toronto
F - Tim Stapleton 11G, 16A for Winnipeg
G - Pekka Rinne 2.39GAA 43-18-8 .922SV%
Lokomotiv is no slouch, their currently in 2nd place overall with 22 points AND have played 2 fewer games than #1 HC Lev 9they could potentially be in 1st place with a 5 point lead. They have also been busy shopping at the NHL market & have acquired some quality talent:
G - Semyon Varlamov 2.59GAA 26-24-3 .913SV%
C - Artem Anisimov 16G, 20A for NYR
D - Dmitry Kulikov 4G, 24A for Florida
In their last 5 games they went 4W-1OTW & their away record is a very impressive 3W-1OTW-1L. They are contender, not pretenders.
Overall, I see this game as a low scoring affair (assuming that both Rinne & Varlamov get the starts) probably 2-1 or 3-1. I give my nod to Dinamo as they have home advantage & Rinne.

#146I had a question about the results of over/under lines. I know for money line if it goes into OT, it's a push no matter which team you chose but how does the result of over/under work in hockey? Is it over/under until regulation ends or whole match?Comment -

CZECH REPUBLIC: Extraliga
12:10pm Kladno -1 vs Trinec (-120 Bet 365) 3 units --Winner Jagr's team beat Trinec by a score of 3-1 - covering the full spread that I was nervous about. They now sit in 1st place overall but have played 1 more game than most teams. They also were winners on my lean for under 6. I should have played it but did not.

11:00am SKA St. Petersburg vs Niznekamsk over 5.5 (-133 Bet365) 3 unit --Loser After the first period, this one looked like a lock as SKA had already built a 2-1 lead. I resisted the temptation of playing live & am glad for it as the game changed from the Kovalchuck show (1G, 1A in the first) to the Yakupov / Sokolov show. The second period provided many chances for SKA including an extended 5 on 3 that they could not capitalize on. Nail (property of Edmonton drafted 1st overall) scored Niznekamsk lone goal in the first and also the tying goal in the third. I missed the third because I had to go out but from the stats, Niznekamsk was manhandled by SKA out-shooting them by a margin of 47-28 but Sokolov shut them down. The game ended going to the shoot-out where Yakupov scored 2 of his teams 3 goals while Kovalchuck could only pocket 1. Even though I lost the wager, I really enjoyed the pace & intensity of the game - it was worth the price of admission.

That was a tough one to lose Bryan & like I posted in my recap, it looked like a lock after the first - 3 goals in the first & then only 1 goal in 2 periods for 2 teams that average 6.2 GPG combined... Sokolov played incredibly & SKA just could not beat him. Bobrovsky also played solid as well -considering that he left Philly last year with a 3.02 GAA.
It was a tough loss for sure mate.Comment -

11:45am Spartak Moscow vs CSKA Moscow - .5 (-111 Bet365) 3 units--Loser This was my fav of the day. I was able to watch the first 2 periods and was totally unimpressed... To me it looked like there were 'external forces' influencing the game. I find it very hard to fathom that a 4th place team with such a potent offence was so completely owned by the last place team in their conference -- something stinks here. CKSA rec'd 4 penalties to Sparta's 1, was outshot 37-14, and it looked like Datsyuk was the only one trying for the win. He scored a goal in the second and also ended up winning it for CKSA in OT. Final score 2-1

#159Friday's PiX - There are many games that I like today so narrowing it down has been tough.
CZECH REPUBLIC: Extraliga
11:30am Zlin vs Kladno -.5 (-118 Bet365) 3 units
Zlin 4W-1OTW-1OTL-2L = 15 points Home 2W-1OTW-1OTL
Kladno 6W-1OTL-2L = 19 points----Away 3W-1L
Last 5 games
Zlin 1W-1OTL-1L-1OTW-1W
Kladno 5W
Kladno is steamrolling the league right now & hot as a fox in a forestfire. His hired gunslinger list is owning their opponents:
RW - Jaromir Jagr to HC Kladno 19G, 39A for Philly
C - Tomas Plekanec to HC Kladno 17G, 35A for Montreal
LW - Jiri Tlusty to HC Kladno 17G, 19A for Carolina
D - Tomas Kaberle to HC Kladno 3G, 28 A for Carolina / Montreal
D - Marek Zidlicky to HC Kladno 2G, 20A for Minnesota / Jersey
C - Vladimir Sobotka to HC Kladno 5G, 15A for St. Louis
F - Roman Cervenka to HC Kladno 23G, 16A for Omsk
In just 5 games of lining together, the combination of Jiri Tlusty, Tomas Plekanec, and Jaromir Jagr has produced 40 points. They are in first place overall and increasing their chemistry with every game.
Zlin, currently in 5th place with 1 game in hand, has not acquired any NHL talent. I think they are a good team but Kladno looks too powerful for them.
I also lean the under 5.5 for this game.
CZECH REPUBLIC: Extraliga
12:15pm Trinec -1.5 vs Ceske Budejovice (+105 Bet365) 3 units
Trinec 5W-1OTW-2L = 18 points Home 2W-1OTW-1L
Ceske 3W-5L = 9 points -------Away 1W-3L
Goals for/against
Trinec 26-18
Ceske- 18-29
Trinec (3rd place) is clearly more powerful than Trinec (11th place) and with home advantage, I expect them to pound out a solid win. They are coming off a road loss to Jagr's Kladno team and will want to show their home fans that they've got what it takes.
Ceske looks to be in free-fall coming off 3 straight losses (5-2, 6-2, 5-1). Their last s wins came over cellar dwellars Sparta Prague (last place) and Pardubice (2nd last place). I think they will lose 4-1 or 5-1.
FINLAND: SM-liiga - Pick O' the day
11:30am Jyp Jyvaskyla -.5 vs Kalpa Kuopio (-133 Bet365 ) 5 units
Jyp 7W-1OTL = 22 points ------Home 3W
Kalpa 4W-1OTL-3L = 13 points -Away 1W-2L
Last 5 games
Jyp 5W
Kalpa 1W-1OTL-1L-1W-1L
Goals for/against
Jyp 25-14
Kalpa 23-23
Jyp is in 1st overall by 4 points and has only allowed an averave of 1.75 GPG while scoring an avg of 3.125. 3 of their last 5 opponets were in the top half of the division.
NHL'ers
F - Rich Peverley to JYP Jyvaskyla 11G, 31A for Boston
C - Craig Smith to KalPa 14G, 22A for Nashville
Rich Peverley is playing his second game for JYP & should be settling down - I expect to see some scoring from this talented forward. I am serongly leaning towards the -1 / -110 HC odds, but will play this safe till BR is healthy again.
GERMANY: DEL
1:30pm Augsburger Panthervs Kolner under 5.5 (-118 Bet365) 3 units
Augsburger 5W-1OTL = 16 points -Home 1OTL-1W
Kolner 5W-2OTW = 19 points -----Away 3W
Goals for/against
Augsburger 16-8 - avg 4 GPG
Kolner 26-12 ---- avg 5.43 GPG
--- overall avg of 4.76 GPG ---
Kolner holds 1st place overall while Augsburger sits in 3rd, but Augsburger also has 1 game in hand - potentiallt giving them a tie for 1st.
Augsburger has home ice advantage & this should be a very tight game as 2 top teams duke it out for the league lead. This game will probably end up going to OT & the final will be either 2-1 or 3-2 with Augsburger getting the extra point.
GERMANY: DEL
1:30pm Hamburg Freezers vs Adler Mannheim ML (-133 Bet365) 4 units
Hamburg 3W-4L = 9 points -6th place -Home 1W-2L
Adler 6W-1L = 18 points --2nd place -Away 2W-1L
Goals for/against
Hamburg 18-19
Adler 29-12
Adler has double the points of Hamburg & has on;y lost 1 of their last 5 while Hamburg has lost 3 straight (2-3) in their last 5. Adler is scoring an avg of 4.14 GPG while allowing only 1.71 GPG. Hamburg is scoring an avg of 2.57 GPG & allowing 2.71 GPG.
I am heavily leaning on Adler -.5 / +125 odds as it has great value but will be playing it safe with the ML to build BR.
This is what I have for now - I may list more games in a little while as there are some sweedish & Swiss games that look interesting.
I expect today to be a rebound day, but considering my record, recommend caution.

#1624 late additions for today's matches. This is my biggest card to date. Losing will mean baloney sandwiches for next week
SWEDEN: Hockey Allsvenskan
1:00pm Leksands ML vs Djurgardens (-149 Bet 365) 3 units
Leksands 3w-1L = 9 points -3rd place --Home 2W-2OTL
Djurgardens 1W-1OTL-2L ----10th place -Away 1W-1OTL-2L
Goals for/against
Leksands 28-22
Djurgardens 16-21
Eating a little chaulk on this one but looking to grow the BR. Leksands last 2 home games resulted in OTL's. I would expect them to come out gunning to give their home fans the 'W'.
Djurgardens has acquired noteable talent from the NHL, but cannot seem to find the scoring touch.
RW - Patric Hornqvist to Djurgardens IF 27G, 16A for Nashville
D - Douglas Murray to Djurgardens IF 4A for San Jose
I think worst case this one goes to OT & $$$ is ret'd.
SWITZERLAND: NLA --- I really love this pick
1:45pm Davos vs Fribourg ML (+130 Bet365) 3 units
Davos 1W-1OTW-2OTL-4L = 7 points -3rd place -Home 1W-1OTW-1OTL-1L
Fribourg 3W-3OTW-2L = 15 points -9th place -Away 2OTW-1L
Goals for/against
Davos 20-23
Fribourg 24-16
Fribourg is easilt the better team & has only allowed an avg of 2 GPG while Davos allows 2.87. Notably missing form Davos lineup is Rick Nash. He owns 3 of their 20 goals. They still have Joe Thornton who has a respectable 1G, 4A in his 5 games.
I still believe that Fribourg is too powerful & in the worst case, will send it to OT for a push.
SWITZERLAND: NLA
1:45pm Servette -1 vs Biel (-125 Bet365 alternate line) 3 units
Servette 7W-1OTW = 23 points -1st place -Home 3W-1OTL
Biel 3W-1OTW-3L = 11 points -7th place -Away 1OTW-1L (1 game in hand)
Goals for/against
Servette 26-11
Biel 19-19
Servette outclasses Biel on all fronts. If the BR was healthier, I would take the straight HC -1.5 / +105, but will play this safe.
Servette avg 3.25 GPG while giving up a paltry 1.375.
Biel avg 2.57 GPG & gives up 2.71
Servette has acquired:
D - Yannick Weber 4G, 14A for Montreal & 3G, 2A for Geneva-Servette in 5 games
C - Logan Couture 31G, 34A for San Jose & 2A Geneva-Servette in 3 games
Biel has acquired:
F - Tyler Seguin 29G, 38A for Boston & 1G, 2A EHC Biel in 2 games
SWITZERLAND: NLA
1:45pm Lugano -1.5 vs Biel (-114 Bet365) 2 units
Lugano 3W-1OTW-2OTL-2L = 13 points -5th place -Home 2W-1OTW-1L
Ambri-Piotta 1W-1OTl-5L = 4 points -12th place -Away 3L (1 game in hand)
Goals for/against
Lugano 22-21 -avg 2.75-2.63
Ambri 15-26 --avg 2.14-3.71
Lugano is coming of an OTL & a L. I believe that they will be looking for blood & having home ice advantage over the last place team is a great place to start.
Ambri-Piotta is a team in free-fall. their last 5 games went 2L-1OTL-2L. They have acquired F - Max Pacioretty, (33G, 32A for Montreal & 1G for Ambri-Piotta in 3 games), but he does not seem capable to do much for them - that Chara hit was nasty.

#164RUSSIA: KHL
Final score 2-1Comment -

There are more, that's just what I could remember of the top of my head. 126 have crossed so far & this should be another big week after the league started cancelling the regular season... They're about as smart as the NFL were when they got 'the replacements' in to cover for the real zebras...Comment -

#168Daily Recap
CZECH REPUBLIC: Extraliga
11:30am Zlin vs Kladno -.5 (-118 Bet365) 3 units --Loser jagr & Co. were flat & just could not get it done. Ziln 3-2. I should have played my lean on the under 5.5CZECH REPUBLIC: Extraliga
12:15pm Trinec -1.5 vs Ceske Budejovice (+105 Bet365) 3 units --Winner Easy win for Trinec who pounded Ceske 5-0. M Ruzicka scored a natural hat-trick in this game.
FINLAND: SM-liiga - Pick O' the day
11:30am Jyp Jyvaskyla -.5 vs Kalpa Kuopio (-133 Bet365 ) 5 units --Loser I totally got hosed on this one... It started out great as JYp scored at the 1:05 mark of the first, but it was all downhill from there as Kalpa scored 5 unanswered goals to take the game 5-1. This was an embarrassing loss in front of their home crowd. I will be playing them next game as revenge will be on their minds. All-in-all, a very disappointing game.
GERMANY: DEL
1:30pm Augsburger Panther vs Kolner under 5.5 (-118 Bet365) 3 units --Winner I predicted the game to be either 2-1 or 3-2 final & was right. Augsburger scored the first 3 & Kolner followed up with the final 2. Augsburger 3-2 final. Now tied for 1st place.
GERMANY: DEL
1:30pm Hamburg Freezers vs Adler Mannheim ML (-133 Bet365) 4 units --Loser The Hamburg Freezers battled hard & gave their home crowd something to cheer about by beating Adler 2-1. Jamie Benn from Dallas picked up an assist on the first goal.
SWEDEN: Hockey Allsvenskan
1:00pm Leksands ML vs Djurgardens (-149 Bet 365) 3 units --Push both teams battled to a 3 all draw during regulation. Leksands ended scoring the winner in OT for a 4-3 final.
SWITZERLAND: NLA
1:45pm Davos vs Fribourg ML (+130 Bet365) 3 units --Push Even without Nash, Davos was able to battle to a draw during regulation - Thorton pocketed a goal. Davos ended up winning this in the shootout 4-3
SWITZERLAND: NLA
1:45pm Servette -1 vs Biel (-125 Bet365 alternate line) 3 units -- Winner As expected, Servette was too powerful for Biel and ended up with an easy 4-1 win. logan Couture picked up an assist on the game winner. Again, I should have played my lean with the -1.5 / +105 odds...
SWITZERLAND: NLA
1:45pm Lugano -1.5 vs Ambri-Piotta (-114 Bet365) 2 units -- Winner Lugano earned a shutout for their home fans after losing their last 2 on their own rink. I should have put more units on this one but as they say, hindsight is 20/20.
Daily total 4-3-2 -2.16 units (JYP & Adler brought me down. i should have stuck with my 3 unit plays)

FINLAND: SM-liiga

Jyp 7W-1OTL-1L = 22 points -1st place -Away 4W-1OTL
JYP will be out for blood after losing yesterday - Lukko will pay the price.
FINLAND: SM-liiga
10:00am Hameenlinna ML vs Karpat Oulu (+115 Bet365) 3 units
Hameenlinna 3w-3OTW-3L = 15 points - 5th place
Karpat Oulu 3W-1OTL-4L = 10 points -11th place
Great value for a higher ranked home team that lost their last home game to JYP. Karpat's only road win came from Lukko.
FINLAND: SM-liiga
10:00am TPS Turku ML vs Assat Pori (+120 Bet365) 3 units
TPS Turku 2OTW-1OTL-5L = 5 points (1 game in hand)
Assat Pori 4W-1OTW-4L = 14 points
Odds seem out of whack but I'll take them. Assat ahead by 9 points & has NHL'ers:
F - Lauri Korpikoski to TPS Turku 17G, 20A for Phoenix
D - Alec Martinez to TPS Turku 6G, 6A for LA

#173Swiss League
SWITZERLAND: NLA
1:45pm Bern vs Servette +.5 3 units & ML 2 units (-125 & +135 Bet365)
Bern 3W-2OTL-4L = 11 points --7th place
Servette 8W-1OTW = 26 points -1st place
Servette has dominated the entire league & not lost any games. They are a perfect 4-0 on the road. They have only allowed 12 goals in 9 games while scoring 30. I am very tempted to place all units on ML, but will hedge for security.
Both teams have NHL talent:
D - Mark Streit to SC Bern 7G, 40A for NYI
D - Roman Josi to SC Bern 6G, 14A vor Nashville / AHL
D - Yannick Weber to Geneva-Servette 4G, 14A for Montreal
C - Logan Couture to Geneva-Servette 31G, 34A for San Jose
SWITZERLAND: NLA

Fribourg 3W-3OTW-1OTL-2L = 16 points -3rd place
Zug 3W-5L = 9 points ----------------10th place (1 game in hand)
Fribourg has a home record of 3W-1OTW-1L. Loss wes to Servette - everyone has lost to Servette. Zug has not won on the road (2-1, 5-2, & 5-2)
Zug has acquired:
D - Raphael Diaz to EZ Zug 3G, 13A for Montreal
F - Damien Brunner to EZ Zug 24G, 36A in 45 games for Swiss league
