That's weird, they took a posted goal away, only 2-0 now.

Carolina Panthers trying to fight off NYR in their bid to overtake top spot Metropolitan. They have an easy one tomorrow at Arizona, hoping they take the Coyotes for granted, and end up losing.

Washington could upset Colorado tonight. Rockies playing for president's trophy, Capitals want to trade playoff ranks with Penguins.

Matthews has 'minor injury,' day to day for Maple Leafs

Forward misses game against Islanders, leads NHL with 58 goals

TORONTO -- Auston Matthews is day to day because of a "minor injury" and did not play for the Toronto Maple Leafs in their 4-2 win against the New York Islanders at Scotiabank Arena on Sunday.

"It's really out of an abundance of caution," Maple Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe said. "We'll give him the day off and reassess him from there."
Matthews, a forward, leads the NHL with 58 goals and has 102 points in 70 games. He had one assist in 23:49 of ice time in a 5-4 overtime win against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.
Keefe said he was not too concerned about the injury.
"Something last night, consider it pretty minor at this point, but given the back to back, quick turnaround, we're going to give him the night off," Keefe said.
Center John Tavares replaced Matthews on a line with left wing Ilya Mikheyev and right wing Mitchell Marner.
It's the sixth game Matthews has missed this season; Toronto is 5-1-0 without him.
"It's hard to replace an Auston, I don't know if you can," Maple Leafs goalie Jack Campbell said. "No disrespect to anybody else, but he does so many world-class things. He just means so much to our dressing room, on the ice and off the ice. But man, what a great opportunity it was for everybody to step up without him tonight, and I thought everybody battled super hard and got a big win."
Toronto (50-20-6) is second in the Atlantic Division, six points ahead of the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Maple Leafs will host the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday.

Favorites split Monday's wins 3-3 vs dogs... but one of those was Dallas losing as a road favorite at Vancouver which was phony, given how well the Canucks have been playing, which did bring the closing odds to around -110 each on that game

The 2 vs 3 seed in the West seems to be locked in with St.Louis vs Minnesota. The regular season games remaining are going to determine who has home advantage, which has been huge for both teams this year.

Andersen out at least one week for Hurricanes with lower-body injury

Carolina 'definitely concerned' for goalie; forward Staal likely to return Thursday

Frederik Andersen will be out at least one week for the Carolina Hurricanes because of a lower-body injury.

"It's a big concern," coach Rod Brind'Amour said after practice Wednesday. "Goaltending is the most important part of the deal, so we're definitely concerned."
Andersen sustained the injury during the third period of a 7-4 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday while extending his left leg to make a save.
"Give me a week and we can reassess," Brind'Amour said. "We've got to give it time to see where it's at."
Andersen is tied for sixth among NHL goalies in wins (35-14-3), is second in goals-against average (2.17) behind Igor Shesterkin of the New York Rangers (2.05) and is tied for sixth in save percentage (.922) among goalie to play at least 10 games. He also has four shutouts.
Antti Raanta made 23 saves for the Hurricanes in a 5-3 win against the Arizona Coyotes on Monday. Pyotr Kochetkov was recalled from Chicago of the American Hockey League on an emergency basis Sunday and was the backup goalie. He has yet to make his NHL debut.
Raanta is 13-5-4 with a 2.46 GAA, .912 save percentage and two shutouts in 25 games (23 starts).
The Hurricanes (49-20-8) are tied with the Rangers for first in the Metropolitan Division.
"We're still playing for something," Brind'Amour said. "I think we're going to go day to day on how we approach [the goaltending]. You don't want to get rusty and you want to stay in rhythm."
Jordan Staal, who did not play against the Coyotes because of an upper-body injury, is expected to return on Thursday when the Hurricanes host the Winnipeg Jets. The forward was injured after scoring two goals against Colorado on Saturday.
Jesperi Kotkaniemi, a forward who played two games after missing eight with a lower-body injury, will miss his second straight game.
"I don't think it's anything serious, but it's related to the injury he had before," Brind'Amour said. "He's not 100 percent. No reason to put (him) in."

and the Canucks are pretty much out of hope for a Wild Card spot with that loss, although still mathematically alive with 3 games remaining on their schedule. It was a good fight, after such a bad start to the season.
