Almost pulled it off. Habs lead 4-3 until Lightning tied it with 20 seconds left in regulation. Big 3 point night for Brayden Point. He scored Tampa Bay's first 2 goals, assisted on the tying goal and won the draw on the overtime winner, scored just 36 seconds in to added time.

Should it, the 2022 Winter Classic is expected to become the coldest outdoor event on record in league history with a low of minus-15 degrees Fahrenheit anticipated for Saturday.
For those north of the border, that equates to minus-26 degrees Celsius.

Hamilton out for Devils with broken jaw, no timeline for return

Dougie Hamilton is out for the New Jersey Devils because of a broken jaw. There is no timeline for the return of the defenseman, who will have surgery Wednesday.

Hamilton will be placed on injured reserve retroactive to Sunday, when he was taken to a hospital after getting hit with a deflected puck 7:05 into the first period of a 4-3 overtime win at the Washington Capitals.

Evander Kane's tumultuous run with the San Jose Sharks is over. The Sharks placed Kane on unconditional waivers Saturday with the intent to terminate the rest of his seven-year, $49 million deal.
San Jose said it made the decision because Kane breached the NHL standard player contract and the AHL's COVID-19 protocols. Kane joined the Sharks' AHL team, the Barracuda, late November after serving a 21-game suspension for submitting a fake vaccine card to the NHL.

LaFontaine, a third-round pick (No. 75) by the Hurricanes at the 2016 NHL Draft, is turning pro in the middle of the college hockey season with the University of Minnesota. The 24-year-old goalie from Mississauga, Ontario, was 12-8-0 with a 2.69 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage in 20 games.

He was with Michigan when they drafted him, then Penticton, Minnesota and now the pros, good to see!
