#632Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said Friday that he's had discussions with Grady Sizemore's representatives.
"We have [talked]," Jocketty said. "I’m not sure where that is right now. With the holidays, not much has happened." Sizemore hasn't played since 2011 and is coming off microfracture surgery on his right knee (he previously had microfracture surgery on his left knee). Jocketty said the outfielder "appears to be" healthy, though, and the Reds are considering bringing him in as Billy Hamilton insurance.
I'm not a big Grady fan, but as a Reds fan it can't hurt. They don't have any money to spend on any free agents.Comment -

Remember Ron Gant. Reds took a chance on him after his motorcycle accident and he had a great year....
And of course he signed a big contract the next year with the Cards.
I'm sure there's others, but Gant comes to mind first.Comment -

#636Grady Sizemore? I had totally forgotten about him since his injury a couple years ago.
Surprised to see he is only a .269 career hitter with 139 HR's?
Could have sworn he had better stats than that?Comment -

#640I would have thought he was better than that also but not by a lot. he had a couple tough years. I could see him making a comebackComment -

Hard to believe it's been 10 years since he's played...Comment -

he had a really interesting year in the minors the year previous to that for Boston... he struck out 38 in 25 innings and only gave up 15 hits but walked 23, so he totally lost his controlComment -

#651Speaking of comebacks. Here is career ending, which surprises me. I figured he could still be a bench player. I always loved his name.
Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports that Ryan Theriot has officially retired from Major League Baseball.
The 34-year-old infielder hasn't appeared in the big leagues since he was a member of the Giants during the 2012 season. He finishes his eight year career with a .281/.341/.350 career line, 17 homers and 121 stolen bases in 899 games.Comment -

#655Just read on CBS Sports that the Red Sox are trying to get Scott Podsednik out of retirement.
Seriously, Podsednik had a decent career. Hit above .280 and had over 300 stolen bases.Comment -

Might be a nice solution in right field.Comment
