I think its fair to say that condit has good submission defense based on the fact that he has not been submitted in a long time. Granted he hasnt fought the best submissionist and nick diaz took his back damn near instantly in i beleive the fourth round of their fight.
On the ither hand, kampmann has really good guillotines. The way he landed that guillotine on thiago alves was very impressive. He dropped for them constantly on jake shields which probably costs him the fight. Though it still matters because it shows it is kampmans go to move.
I dont really EXPECT him to land it but if kampman does win it could very well be by choking condit out. At plus 1700 it is tooooo good of an arb to pass up.
I disagree that kampmann hasnt fought good competiton since their last fight. He has fought good competition but he hasnt done as well against them. Granted he beat alves and ellenberger but he was losing up until he came from behind to win. I think kampmann could have beat shields if he didnt drop for guillotines constantly. Some important things. Kampmann has been knocked out three times in the ufc and condit has big power. Kampmann faded against diego sanchez in the third round of their fight. Condit shoukd be ale to bring the same kind of intensity that diego brings. In fact i think he could bring more potentially. Diego should really be fighting at 155. He was a little chubby at 170. He still was effective of course.
I think their striking is relatively even. Kampmann might even be then better technical fighter but if he is it is by a small margin that should be overcome by condits intensity. I also have reason to beleive that condits wrestling is getting better and his cardio should really be on point for this fight.
