You have some good idea's betting baseball and certainly know more about the sport than myself, but maybe suppose I can drop some friendly advice here. Quit betting shit teams. IE Indians, Arizona,etc.. All teams streaking in the wrong direction deserve NO action. I know you look at stats and what not but those are not near as important as current FORM. The Indians have been a disaster for months now I believe and Arizona hasn't seemed interested in weeks. A simple rule here. Whenever your handicapping leads you to select a team that has lost 5 in a row (Arizona) or 11 out 12 (Indians) stay away!! Love the Pads pick here. They have been playing real well as of late and have a lefty pitching that Braves can't hit, already stymied them once plus they have sucked against LHP. I like that the total went from 7.7.5. I think that action is because bettors feel that Hanson is getting hit today. Besides he's not that good and not in good form. Also travel day for Braves. Regardless of todays game outcome they are happy to be going home no worse off than they were thanks to Washington't recent demise. Rockies is a smart play as well. Dodgers are lost at the moment and can't hit LHP pitching either. Plus Pomeranz has already stuck it up there ass once already recently. Blanton looks like a gas can and I am sure Coors is not the remedy for him. Rockies have been playing pretty well recently so there overall record means nothing to me. Now, Arizona?? I would not bet them. They have phoned the season in it appears. They are playing a playoff team looking to get as many wins as they can get. Corbin has pitched pretty well, but Reds seem to find ways to win and Arizona seems to find ways to lose. Good Luck! Looking forward to Football season.. Which is a prelude to Basketball! Oh well still got Pads, hit that it will come out pretty good. I just hate losing, especially at baseball. It is not an entertaining game to lose at. What is frustrating is I actually know it real well and played college baseball and do real well fantasy baseball daily leagues, but as far as betting it... Can't do it. You might want to vacate your Pads posistion because I like that one real well. I am sure of it. My theory is that there is so many games and the travel and the grind are so hard, not to mention the sport itself is very hard to play that you get such very inconsistent results due to fatigue, not giving a shit,etc.. Anybody can play baseball unlike basketball and football but not many can succeed at the game.
Take basketball. A 300 pound whale can shoot FT's at a decent %. Now I know there is more to the game than that, but what could some gigantic unathletic person do in baseball?
Baseball frustrated the shit out of me when I played it. I loved it, but I was never as good or as consistent as I thought I should be. It is such a grind on you mentally as well.
I got a good portion of my college education paid for because I was know to hit the ball occasionally where other's were not posistioned, but when I struggled it drove me insane. Like slumps hitting.Hitting is a confidence thing first and foremost and when you are struggling it is difficult to be confident and then it snowballs. 0-4's turn into 4-23's before you know it. It is a thankless game. Such as hitting lasers right at people. They say it averages it out. Some dinks and dunks fall in here and there. Never averaged out for me. It is a sport where you can do everything right and still fail. It is played out in gambling much like it was for me playing the sport.Comment -
I know I make the right calls in baseball more times than not based on the situations and matchups, current form of opposistion and past results of the matchups pitchers vs hitters not to mention other criteria. Other sports like basketball and football when I do my due dilligence I am rewarded more times than not. But baseball? Shit no. I see some of the flukiest shit happen in that sport you can't handicap.
Take the Orioles. That is a team of destiny imo. That team on paper should be about 20 games below 500. They beat the White Sox the other nite because Lew Ford hit his 1st HR of the year and Nate Mcclouth hit is 2nd homer of the year. That was 3 runs and that was all they got and won 3-2?? Dude those guys are fukking scrubs and quite honestly I have no earthly idea what they are doing in the show. I played with and against players better than them. Compare that to the NBA and it would be like getting 2 guys off the bench go for 30 pts a piece.Comment -
