Why would Scherzer just go 5 or 6?

Short rest? Cc pitched Friday. 4-5 days off is normal between starts.

I expect cc to pitch well and the Yankee offense is lost and I doubt have much life. Big park-cool weather.

Dexter, I have not been really impressed with Sabathia despite his dominance of the Orioles in the division series. Watching his pitches which were left up alot to the Orioles only to be fouled off. The Orioles were in a funk and did not show very good discipline at the plate. I agree with the poster that said Scherzer would probably only go 5-6 innings. He is not back all the way to be turned loose yet and pitch well above 100 pitches. I think with his K's, and BB's and a few hits(maybe,lol) he gets his pitch count ran up quickly. That being said Scherzer was good against Yankees last post season. Really think Detroit FF is a good play here for the value at around EV. I see no reason Detroit does not close out the series tonite, but feel more comfortable FF than full game because I like Scherzer more than watching Detroit bull pen throw 3-4 innings in this game. GL.

Yanks should have start sabathia against verlander yesterday. They gave the series away to the tigers

Looks like a lot of rain coming towards STL i dont like the thought of a big rain delay in the middle of the game chasing both starters out early

you haven't been impressed with sabathia? what more can you want from an ace. go look at his last 5 starts (well past balt)...pure dominance.
the only thing i see messing him up tonight is the rain delay....may only get a few inn out of him.
as for scherzer, this is his 3rd start off the bench and he went 75/91....i see no reason why a guy like leyland wouldnt let him loose for 110.

i think wainwright is in the same boat as bumgarner with his arm - and lincecum has the confidence back from a few bullpen appearances. all systems go for me in what i expect to be a see-saw series till game 7.

I'll take Bochy over Matheny any day of the week in the dugout. Other than that the Cards own all the matchups in this series. They practically have a better player at ever single posistion. You might could argue Posey over Molina, but Molina is the best defensive catcher in the game imo. Other than that who could you possibly want on the Giants team to replace one of the Cardinals players? Giants should be at home right now, but they were close enough talent wise to the Reds that Bochy owned Baker in game 4 when he had the brains to go get Zito early before it got ugly and Baker waited to it did get ugly before removing Leake. That was game set match right there. Basically the Giants are very inferior other than the braintrust in this series. I can understand the Lincecum love to some degree because we all know he has greatness in him. I really believe his quirkyness has been effective in middle relief because it has really caught teams of guard. Lincecum got good results against Cards game 1 but most of his pitches were up and very hittable. He skated by in a short 2 inn performance. I don't feel that will be the case today. Most of the Cards hitters have pretty good history against him and with this price it looks like the books are looking for SF money.Lincecum has been effective but I think it has been more a by product of his usage rather than some old magic he has found. Results are sometimes decieving and I believe his recent playoff results are a mirage because I do not see anything different from him. His pitches are still up and his velocity is still down. He still has devastating changeup but it is not as effective behind in count and when fastball has been up. We are headed for a 2006 WS rematch. Don't fight it. It is coming sooner, rather than later.
