Atlanta has an easier schedule than Philly. And they have them best starting rotation and bullpen in the majors. Now they are also hitting at an alarming rate and the sky is the limit.

West coast getting no love in this thread.
SD and SF are both better. SF is picking a terrible time to make a little skid here but I think they regroup and would be a tough team to beat.

Look at Braves schedule. They play 8 more games with the Nationals, 9 games with the Marlins, 7 with Mets, 3 Pirates, 3 Cubs, 3 Rockies, 4 Cardinals, 3 Phillies.
Out of all these games only 7 games are with teams playing for a playoff spot. They have an easy schedule.
West Coast teams play each other a lot and SF is not going to sweep the Dodgers or the Rockies in series.

Have you seen the West Coast play? It is the worst division in baseball. Anytime the west coast teams play a tema from the East such as Atlanta, Philly, Florida they get there ass handed to them. Atlanta has kicked SDG SFG and LA's ass all year.
It's no surprise Atl is in 1st.

I agree with the top 4 JJ....but I struggle badly to put the Cards in the top 5. Having trouble in the backend of the rotation, Garcia's magic has seemed to die, the bullpen is having a tough time getting people out, outside of Jay, Pujols, Holliday the line just isnt that good. Not much balance, no power, limited speed. They have been dropping home games lately to the likes of the Cubs, Brewers and Astros.
I would put the Twins/Phils/Padres in the top 5 before the Cards.

Not so sure I would say we have the best bullpen in the major as I think SD's is slightly better than ours at the moment, but with EOF coming back within the next few days, that could put ours ahead of them. Also getting Derek Lee wouldn't hurt us.

I think you guys are hillarious... again phillies do not get tnough respect... now i am a phillies fan, but I normally am not biased... but get real... 2 trips to the world series.. should be definitely favored to go back.. it's not even close in who is favored... teams with some hitting, don't have the pitching.. and teams with pitching dont have the hitting.. philly has both.. I laugh at people that put Padres, Cards, Braves on this list ahead of Philly.. What have these teams proved to take over philly? I will say the bullpen on the road for philly is a concern for me.. but not big enough to not be favored.. phillies best hitting team when healthy in baseball. and with halladay, oswalt, and hamels.. i think it's very hard for any national team to realistic compete.... I guess time will tell.. it's baseball.. but for who should be favored. i think this conversation is funny.. philly has been the only team in 2 yrs to be success in the NL in the playoffs... And they got there in 2 yrs.. fairly easy..

Now I would to make it clear. I am not saying teams in the playoffs arent capable in beating philly.. it's baseball. if pitchers get hot.. anything can happen. we are talking about who is favored..

i dont agree with the cards or atlanta. phillies have had 16 guys on the DL this season, tied for the major league lead and they are still only 2 games back. only 9 times this season have all the players on opening day roster have played together in the same game. and the padres have the best record in the NL. no way they cant be on the list

Your pitching rotation goes three deep and is not very impressive, one could make a very valid argument saying we have a better rotation...

You only need 4 pitchers for the postseason. And the Phillies have only had their starting lineup for a grand total of 7 games this year and they are still 16 games over .500.
Top 5 teams in no order:
Rays, Yanks, Rangers, Phils, Braves
The Cards do not deserve to be anywhere in the top 5. Id put them at like 8 or 9.

I'm very much aware of this, you need 5 for the regular season. And the Braves top 4 is still better than the Phils to four...

But the Phils top 3 is better than the Braves top 3. And the Phillies lineup, when healthy, is far more potent than the Braves.

Not much of an argument can be made about your second statement, but the thing about the top three could certainly be argued. Also helps a bit for us having an easier schedule as well...
