I have a question for all of you. I am fairly new to the betting world and when I go into SBR's book and select a game to wager there is a drop down box giving the pitchers and a thing called "action". could anyone explain what this is and does it make any difference at all! Thanks in advance!!!

Action your bet is live no matter who is pitching, if a pitcher gets scratched your bet is still good, if you select pitchers if a pitcher is scratched your bet is refunded and you have no action.

Sure and my personal choice is listed pitcher this time of year... The series and individual games obviously weigh heavy on who is pitching...

PITCHERS
Since the pitcher is the single most important position, the line or
odds, are based largely by the starting pitchers listed. Taking this
into account, you have four options when betting baseball.
Listed Pitcher - A baseball bet is made on a game stating listed
pitchers and both of the listed pitchers must start the game. A
pitcher is determined to have made a start after he throws the opening
pitch for his team. If one, or both, of the listed pitchers do not
start the game, the bet has no action and the bettors money is
refunded.
Specify team pitcher- A baseball bet is made placing a bet specifying
just the pitcher starting for the team you are betting on. As long as
the pitcher starts for the team you have bet, you have action on the
game, no matter or not the opposing team's listed pitcher starts. If
the opposing team's pitcher doesn't start, this usually means that a
new price is determined for the game.
Team Action- If you bet on a team with normal action, then the bet is
good regardless of a change in starting pitchers for either team. The
odds may be adjusted if there is a change in the listed pitchers.
Team action against listed pitcher- In this situation a bet can be
made on a team and the bet is good regardless of whether or not the
listed pitcher starts for that team as long as the listed pitcher for
the other team does in fact start the game

It makes a huge difference if the you have already placed your bet on the action assuming the ace of the team is pitching and he fall's down a breaks his neak on they way to the game and some scrub from the bullpen gets the start.

Yes and most of us have learned the hard way just checking a box in the past...only to see "Johnny no pitch " start instead...

I know spending all the time to make the very best picks, answer questions, post results can be a ton...that is why I like to pause for a few days inbetween from my thread and bounce back and forth in here...same thing going on and easy to relate to people also winning... errors happen keep up the great work...

to add to what G's and DoubleJ said

You can also play listed on one team and action on the other.

I will sometimes play the listed on my team and action on the other team if I don't care who their starter is. If my ace is going up against theirs or one of their best and I liked it enough to bet then I obviously would like it with one of their lesser pitchers as well and it protects me in case my starter is scratched.

They were one of my plays too, but I played the -1rl so that series is a push for me

. Of course, that was the only -1rl I played too and my others weren't even close.

I picked up a few others that I started yesterday so it was still a good day.

Now we need to clean up this MIN series on the B bet today and get that out of the way

just a heads up...baltimore has changed their pitcher, so if you already had your bet in on minny, it is probably canceled now..sucks that the new line is -265 now..

Thanks for that. With Millwood I was a little uneasy about taking the -1.5 line, but now with Guthrie I love it at only 10 extra in the juice.

Joe Mauer (heel) could be available to pinch hit Saturday, according to manager Ron Gardenhire.

The Twins are set to begin a doubleheader Saturday, and it's unlikely that Wilson Ramos will be available to catch both games. If Drew Butera is called on to catch the second game, having Mauer available off the bench to hit in a key situation would be very beneficial to their chances. Gardenhire told ESPN 1500 that Mauer's availability depends on how he feels after doing drills Saturday morning.

From an excel file maintained by another guy on another site. He posts an update to it everyday. Has a tremendous amount of data that you can sort, filter, etc.

Yes if the Twins lose and it looks like they are going to tonights game would be a C Bet for the system.

Average odds for the game are around -175, His B Bet was 10.65/4.65 1.5 unit profit so C Bet would be 26.8/15.3 1.5 unit profit.

Correction that would have been the numbers before the pitching change in game 1 of todays doubleheader. Line changed to around -270 so B Bet would have been 12.55/4.65 1.5 unit profit. C Bet would be 29.29/17.2 1.5 unit profit.

OK so you are risking 29.29 units to show a profit of 1.5 total... wow I hope you guys win! Will be rooting for you guys...risk reward ratio very lopsided negatively....
