Since rosters expand, baseball becomes a crazy (and unpredictable) game in September. Most profitable months are August & July in my opinion.

After 28-31 August, baseball ends for me..
i actually find this to be very profitable because i bet on the team that has nothing to lose and are playing loose. i usually hit about 50% but the dog prices are very tasty. don't ignore september.

I agree that july and august are big. I disagree that september is bad. I have made more money on september baseball than april and may combined. September is amazing for run lines .

Me personally i always like to play totals in baseball . They have great value when plugged in the right spots. Also always grab the home team on the last game of a series if they are about to get swept .

I don't agree with most of the advice in this thread. IMO lots of it is bad and even with the good pointers baseball betting is too complicated for one little heuristic to turn somebody into a winning bettor. There is one thing, however, that will help you out a lot.

Shop lines aggressively and bet overnight. At minimum have money at 5dimes and matchbook. On a even money game at 5dimes the juice is -103/-102 overnight, and with line shopping you can usually shave that down to the equivalent of -101/-102. This alone will be much more valuable to you than advice like "know your bullpens"... IMO bullpens aren't particularly valuable anyway, but that's another issue entirely.

THE best capper to follow in MLB is Robert farringo. His numbers speak for themselves. His picks will be in service plays once MLB starts. He has been plus units for the past two years I have been following him. He's the shit

more than any other sport betting on baseball really does require a good knowledge of the game and the players. finding value is the key and in baseball that value may be at -220 or it may be at +150. it all depends on matchups. when i first started betting MLB I stayed away from the higher ml's and did crap. studied the game and realized sometimes yankees -240 was a good value bet. my best advice would be to wait until you know more about the game and the players, this way you may start seeing a pattern. baseball is the easiest sport to crush if you know the game.

                  good luck

Don't start betting bases until may or june. No spring training!!!!! It will turn u off right from the start. Not to state the obvious, but teams are getting different looks from different players. They don't care if they win or cover our bets.

Keep your emotions out of the picture. Don't bet on your cubbies just because you want them to win.

Definitely follow this. I've been burned many time for betting on my Braves, when I knew it was not the smart play...

It just might be. Look for WAS to win about 70 games this year. I'll be looking to make some plays on WAS when they're a big home dog.

Really where are yoy getting your stats???? Only three teams had a better home record than Cubs in all of NL.

Invest heavily in how good are your closers. Think of the 2009 Mets...how many were in the bag only to be blown open wide in the 8th and 9th for the loss.

Things every baseball bettor should know:

MLB has ridiculously high parity, it's the closest game to a coin flip.

                                                      Home underdogs usually have value.

Road teams win by exactly 1 run about 12% of the time, Home teams 18%.

Home field advantage is stronger during inter-league games.

Teams can change dramatically at the trade deadline, bad teams just give up.

That is exactly why baseball IS worth betting, it is easier to get underdog value in baseball than in most other sports.
