Fred The Hammers MLB Season Thread
Well started off a wee bit unlucky....had NYY/Balt Over 9 and it was 6-1 after 5. Didn't lose though

    Adding:

KC (-119) over CWS 1.5 units

I'm pretty high on KCs offense this year! Also not liking the WS. They have alot more holes in their lineup then KC imo. Brad Keller is also a little underrated in my book

The White Sox completely suck! It seems like it was only 2-3 years when the "experts" were picking their young talent to match Houston and Atlanta's.

Jimenez is just a rookie and Moncada will K 200x again. Rodon & Lopez are ok but nothing special. The rest of their pitching is terrible. WS are a def fade again this year imo!

          1-0 (+150)

          Adding:

          Boston/Seattle Over 8 (-110) 2 units

For one thing Seattle is really swinging the bats right now! Santana and Edwin Scissorhands were nice pickups and Tim Beckham has 3 bombs already! Seems like Beckham started red hot w/Balt a few years ago. Then you look at the world champs. A deadly lineup that can really work Kikuchi. I saw his start in Japan and he has decent stuff, but threw 91 pitches in less then 5ip. Thats not going to cut it vs Boston?

          Lets Do It

One hopefully helpful thing to note from tonite. German Marquez 6 ip, 2 h, 1 er, 7 Ks. He's one of the most underrated pitchers in the game. Road numbers last year = 2.95 era, 0.98 whip, and .203 batting avg allowed with 230 Ks overall! He's one to tail! I think Colorado takes the NL West going away. Wish I bet their futures to take the NL West

Over top of 6....gotta love it! Sea is going to come back to Earth pretty soon imo, but they're hot right now

You can't win them all if you don't win the first two

                Adding:

Reds (-130) over Pittsburgh 1.5 units

I think Sonny Gray rebounds in the NL. He has talent! Pitt was missing Marte, Polanco, and Chisenhall on Opening Day. Marte might be back, but the other 2 are out. I've also seen Trevor Williams for Pitt several times and he just has ordinary stuff? 170 ip last year with only 126 Ks? I think his 3.11 era gets corrected pretty quickly this year! He has 6 career ip in Great American with 4 earned runs. Its not like pitching in the big park of PNC.

The Reds bench & depth is really improved this year as well with the additions of Matt Kemp, Derek Dietrich, and Jose Iglesias. Dietrich & Iglesias combined for 4 rbis on Opening day. The Reds will probably be limited to a chase for .500 this year with their difficult division, but they are much improved. The Reds & Twins are 2 of my teams to fly under the radar and provide value for a while!

                  Adding:

Toronto over Detroit (-125) 1 unit
                  Toronto RL (+155) .5 unit
                  Cubs/Rangers Over 9 (-110) 1 unit

Pitching mismatch in Canada this afternoon. Former AS Aaron Sanchez has a 1.50 career era (including 6ip 1 run last year) vs Detroit. The Tigers are starting some guy named Turnbull. He was in AA last year at 26. Not a top prospect. Great value on the Jays to romp imo!

Yu Darvish vs Edwin Volquez! For one....didn't know Volquez was still pitching? He's all over the place and the Cubs should score at will again against him in that launching pad. The Ranger fans will probably boo Darvish and he's up-n-down anyway? Even if he's on then 5 ip is about all they'll get.

                    Reds rained out.

Jays up 3-0 with 3 outs to go

Aaron Sanchez with 5 shutout innings w/6 Ks. Hitting 96-97 with some run on it. He's had some physical issues, but he's very very talented if he gets it back? A career 3.40 era in the AL East is nothing to sneeze at!

Atlanta/Philly opened up 8.5 and Over was a winner in the top/5th. How did I miss that? Both those teams are going to play a ton of Overs this year! Nola is the only really good starter out of the combined 10 for both teams. Turner Field is a big park so needs to be played carefully but still love the Overs on most days with these 2 teams.

Asshole You guys just stole Goldie from Arizona for nothing? Weaver is never going to be very good? Did the Cards give up anyone else worthwhile? The Cards are def the team to beat in NL Central imo...even better if you didn't let Voit walk?

Gave them Carson Kelly, really good defensive catcher, for years cards wouldn’t trade him insisting he was our future catcher but yadi not showing any interest in letting up. Lol. Problem is he hasn’t hit very well but maybe he will with more opportunity he wasn’t getting here. I still think weaver can be a pretty decent big league starter, not a ace but a solid 3 possibly w upside. His stuff pretty good. Lot of young pitchers struggle after league sees them, lot of them make adjustments and have good careers.

Honestly I was kinda shocked cards were able to ink goldy to that contract that was actually pretty reasonable, I’d have thought he must have been asking for something crazy for zona to part w him. Gotta say it feels really really nice once again having a legit star in our lineup!! Thanks!! Lol.

I agree we should be the favs but Central is really tough, no easy W’s in this division. For a nice change not only should our lineup be stronger w goldy but our pen should actually be a huge strength if miller can get back to being the guy he was we will have a Reyes/Miller/Hicks 7-8-9, that about as lights out as it gets!! Brewers pen was a strength but they got issues at the moment w jefferies hurt and knebel gone for the year, I think they gonna be in real danger of overworking hader cause who else can council trust right now and their starters not exactly innings eaters!!

                                    Should be a great year!!

Yeah I like the Cards young arms but then again I liked them last year too. Milw and Cubs both have issues with pitching. If they go out and get some guys then who knows? Reds are going to score alot too, but their pen relies on Hughes & Hernandez who are both 34

I almost took Boston/Sea Over again. Seattle is really swinging it and we know what Boston can do.

TY mikmik and spippen!! GL gentleman!

                                                Adding:

                                                Detroit/Toronto Over 8.5 (-135) buying .5 run
                                                $150 to win $111

The line went up from -125 in the 15 min that I was researching this game. Kind of sucks, but I'm riding with it.

The Tigers just got shut out twice in a row. Toronto has only hit 1 HR in 3 games. There will definitely be a sense of urgency today for the hitters!

Here's the scoop on the starters:

Detroit = Matt Moore. Hard to believe this guy is only 29? He's horrible! 6.79 era in 102 ip last year (19 bombs). 5.94 road era for the last 3 years and a 5.48 era in spring training.

Toronto = Trent Thornton. A kid making his first MLB start today. 4.42 era at AAA last year. 5.21 AAA era in 2017. A 4.80 era in spring training. The Tigers bats will wake up today...atleast somewhat even if Miggy can't go.

Good Luck Fellas! I'd like to dig up 1-2 more winners and go Undefeated in March!!!

                                                  Adding:

                                                  2 team parlay: Pitt/Reds Under 8.5 (-115) & Orioles Over 2.5 (-135)

                                                  $50 to win $112

Its going to be in the upper 30s today in Cincy. I'm only 2 hours away and its cold as hell. Nobody in the NL has ever seen Sonny Gray and Williams is a pretty underrated pitcher for Pitt.

For the O's....its 2.5 runs and the park is a joke! I've seen righty hitters get jammed and inside-out the ball over the rightfield wall? Happ was great with NY last year when he came over, but he's 36 years old. It will be 60 in NYC today so cold isn't an issue although rain might be? My guess is that the Yankees wake up and put up 8+ today so a cookie or 2 to Balt's hitters won't matter to them.

TY! I've been doing this a long time and one thing I've singled out that works it to fade shitty pitchers. Last year I faded Moore and I faded Homer Bailey. I think the Reds were like 1-20 in Homer's last starts as a Red. I'm a Reds fan so I know them especially well. I faded Bronson Arroyo when he came back a few years ago and was throwing 84 mph. Some teams just have no talent so they have to plug in someone and other scrubs are out there because of their contracts. Darvish and Edinson Volquez last night. I think they're both done pretty much. Easy Over winner. I'm going to fade both of those 2 until proven otherwise.

Dammit. Good chance to steal that Over with Det/Tor but didn't happen. Both teams have shit lineups...esp Toronto. Won't be playing either one Over anytime soon. Reds Under gets me halfway home on the parlay atleast
