As you all know, only the best handicappers use custom-made systems to derive their plays. Therefore, I have developed my own MLB system using enhanced statistical data that has been collected over the past 127 years.
However, unlike others in the forum who claim to have a model, I will be divulging exactly how my system works. You ready?
For the purposes of this thread, I will be placing 1 unit on each game that fits this definitive criteria: a home team starting a pitcher whose last name ends with a consonant, facing a road team starting a pitcher whose last name ends in a vowel.
We will see if my total record and +/- units can compete with the foolproof models of other systems championed on this website. Today's plays are:
Tigers -113
Cardinals +156
Rangers -111
Braves +106
My model has been built by some of the finest statistical minds in the industry, including several proteges of Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey. You may have also seen it on Nate Silver's website FiveThirtyEight. We are still working out the kinks on how to handle pitchers whose names end in "y," so I will get back to you on that.
