Whoa......sweep in 3? I respectfully disagree. Who will go Game 2 for the Cubs...Hammel or Hendricks?

Too soon to tell but despite the records, Cubs are the better team with the better pitching.

Agree that Game 2 is Cards' best chance but may get nice dog value on Cubs that game.

Cubs should be favored Game 1 too with Lester, Cardinal starters are very mediocre. St. Louis currently -110ish Game 1.

Damn, I was planning on taking Cubs series assuming they would be dogs. Any suggestions on how to approach this LT? Game by game or series?

I hear you, as of now I am passing on series and on Game 1 for lack of value. But my answer would always be game-by-game, it is infrequent that books give good value on series prices. I mean I like Mets and Astros to upset too, but I don't think the series prices are high enough. Only favorite I like is Toronto, but I never lay those kinds of odds.

Probably Hendricks, but could be Hammel because he's been better on the road.

4 days rest would put him on ? Sunday - game 4 ? Might set him up well if the Cubs can advance here?

4 days is Monday - Game 3. That is what he will do. Yes, it would set him up to pitch a Game 1 NLCS on normal 4 days rest.

Cubs pitching hasn't allowed more than 4 runs in a game in their last 17 games. Starters 0.29 ERA over last 9. Cubs have had the best pitching over the last 2+ months.

Cubs are going to kick the shit out of the cards. Anyone who takes cards is braindead. Cards with best record in league weren't even favored to go to world series.

Remember how much money books have on cubs world series from before season? Sharps were hammering them. Vegas might have a big payday on their hands.

Hard to say. He hasn't pitched all season. Who the hell knows what he will bring coming in cold.

Not with how the series works out imo with first 2 being played in St Louis where Lackey has a 1.93 ERA through 17 starts and Garcia has a 1.70 ERA through 10 starts. They were going to lose game 3 no matter where they play vs Arrietta. You are putting a lot of faith in Lester but think it's more likely his games come down to the bullpen where Cardinals have 3 or 4 shut down guys plus whatever Wainwright gives them already proven out of the pen . Wainwright in 6th,7th,8th to Rosenthal in 9th will be tough.
St Louis in 4 or 5

What I've learned over the years is, never doubt the Cardinals. They always seem to figure it out. A guy goes down & someone steps up like nothing ever happened. If Cubs were plus odds, I'd say that there is value there. The Cubs do seem to be that "hot" team entering the playoffs but, if anyone can put out a "hot" team, it's the Cardinals. Also, Arrieta, only pitching one game in this series, doesn't excite me.

I have no problem with him pitching an inning or two in a big situation. They've been prepping hm for just that.

Lester grades out MUCH better than Lackey plus Cardinals struggle with lefties. And Garcia is not nearly as good as his mainstream stats. Posted in another thread that Cubs rotation grades out second best among playoff teams behind only Mets. St. Louis grades out third worst ahead of only Kansas City and Texas.

This is 2015. The Cardinals had one of best teams in the league in recent years, so of course they did well. THIS year and right now, Cubs are better team, don't get blinded by the 100 wins and overachieving ERA numbers.
