The Carolina Hurricanes look to take a 3-0 lead against the New York Islanders when they clash for Game 3 in New York on Thursday, as we dive into the best Hurricanes vs. Islanders props and predictions based on the best NHL odds.

After a thrilling comeback with four third-period goals securing victory in Game 2, the Carolina Hurricanes (52-23-7) stride into Game 3 as formidable -160 favorites to triumph at UBS Arena in Elmont, N.Y.

The Hurricanes also lead the pack with the shortest Stanley Cup odds as they gear up for this pivotal showdown against the New York Islanders (39-27-16).

On the flip side, the Islanders face a must-win situation, trailing 2-0 as they head into Thursday's clash at 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN2).

Despite initially commanding a 3-0 lead early in the second period of the previous game, the Islanders stumbled against Carolina's fierce third-period surge. Their struggle primarily stemmed from a lack of sustained offensive pressure, evident in their meager tally of just 12 shots on goal throughout the game.

To accompany our Panthers vs. Lightning player props, here are our best Hurricanes vs. Islanders player props and NHL picks (odds via our best NHL betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Hurricanes vs. Islanders prop bet predictions for Thursday

Seth Jarvis Over 0.5 points ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Seth Jarvis created the spark the Hurricanes so desperately needed in Game 2. The 22-year-old center scored one and set up two of the Hurricanes' first three goals. As Miley Cyrus famously said, he came in like a wrecking ball. Jarvis has six points (three goals, three assists) in his last four games against the Islanders.

He also finished the season with a Category-5-like gust, notching five points in the final three games. At -135, DraftKings offers the best value. Our other best sports betting sites provide comparable odds, with BetMGM at -139, bet365 at -140, and Caesars lagging at -150. A winning $10 bet at DraftKings will pay out a profit of $7.41. The -135 odds, via our odds converter, have an implied win probability of 57.45%.

Bo Horvat Over 2.5 shots ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Bo Horvat had three shots in Game 2, 25% of the Islanders' total. That's more of a condemnation of the Islanders than a compliment to Bo. Horvat had an even more productive Game 1 outing, at least in terms of shots. He had five in the opener and hit the Over in six of the final eight regular-season games.

Buoyed by their raucous home crowd, the Islanders will come out of the gates flying in Game 3. Horvat should piggyback on the atmosphere and get as many pucks to the net as possible, unlike his team in Game 2. At -130, DraftKings offers the best value. A winning $10 bet pays a profit of $7.69 and has an implied 56.52% win probability.

Over 5.5 goals ⭐⭐⭐

I haven't lost track of the fact this is a series in which defense reigns supreme. Game 1 perfectly embodied the type of series expected. However, the Hurricanes exploded offensively in Game 3 and have scored at least three goals in eight straight and 10 of the last 11. The Islanders have conceded at least three goals in three straight while lighting the lamp at least three times in six of their previous nine games.

In addition, unless they take the lead early, the Islanders will have to open up and take some chances eventually. That could leave them exposed, especially against a ruthless Hurricanes team. Based on the Stanley Cup playoffs opening week, there's also a distinct possibility of an empty-net goal or two. FanDuel offers the best value at +104. A $10 winning bet pays a profit of $10.04 and has a 49.02% implied probability.
