Our Victoria Day in Toronto temperature odds from a sportsbook offering Ontario sports betting are a good gauge for whether patio season is really almost here.

You can always smell it in the air, and hear it all around. There are birds chirping, barbeques sizzling, and the constant drone of leaf blowers amid spring cleaning.

Oh yes, summer is almost unofficially here in Toronto. Or is it?

Calendar traditionalists/nerds will point to June 20 as the actual start of summer. Let them go spoil parties. We all know that in the great white north, with its always fleeting warm-weather season, Victoria Day is when summer is actually supposed to begin. Or at minimum, it's the unofficial start of patio season.

One of our best Ontario sports betting sites was offering Victoria Day in Toronto temperature odds. Here's a look at the final odds and analysis for 2024.

What Victoria Day in Toronto temperature is the favorite?

A warm yet comfortable max temperature of 22 degrees is the faraway front-runner by the odds here at +184, with a sizable gap to 23 degrees at +270. The latter means we're getting deeper into a time of the year when ice-cream truck jingles are heard roughly every nine minutes.

There's an even larger chasm to 24 degrees at +490 in fourth. However, the forecast from The Weather Network just two days out on Saturday afternoon is calling for a deep long shot to cash. A high temperature of 26 degrees is projected, which is tied for seventh on the board at +1500.

The historical max temperature average in Toronto on May 20 is 17.2 degrees, according to Weather Underground. We're dealing with the sadness of faux summer at that temperature, with tank tops and spike ball sets needing to stay in storage for a while longer. In 2023 the high was a fall-like 16.1 degrees. But there's been higher temperatures recently too, including 21.1 in 2022, and a comparatively blistering 25 in 2021.

So maybe those juicy +1300 odds on 25 degrees can cash again. You can take your winnings directly to the closest patio, with a $10 bet netting $130, or the equivalent of roughly three beers in downtown Toronto.
