The Florida Panthers have a second kick of the can against the Edmonton Oilers in Game 5 to secure their first Stanley Cup, as we offer our Oilers vs. Panthers player props based on the best NHL odds

The Florida Panthers allowed eight goals in Game 4, the most since conceding nine in Game 5 of the 2022-23 Stanley Cup Final against the Vegas Golden Knights. Despite the 8-1 whipping in Game 4, the Panthers are favorites to prevail in Game 5 and lift the Holy Grail.

Puck drop for Game 5 is set for 8 p.m. ET on ABC from Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Fla. While the loss lengthened the Panthers' Stanley Cup odds, they remain strong favorites to lift the Holy Grail. Only one team, the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs, has come back from an 0-3 series deficit in the Stanley Cup Final.

Along with our best Oilers-Panthers expert picks, here are our best player props and NHL picks for Game 5.

Top Oilers vs. Panthers prop bets

Panthers Over 30.5 shots ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Panthers average 33 shots per game at home during the 2024 playoffs. While Paul Maurice's team only fired 18 and 29 in Games 1 and 2, respectively, they should be highly motivated to get back to their shooting ways in Game 5, especially after being humiliated in Game 4 with the Stanley Cup in the building.

Florida had 33 shots in the Game 4 loss, 15 of which occurred in the third period with the result no longer in question. This prop may depend on whether the Panthers are leading or trailing entering the third period. However, Game 5 should be hotly contested and close throughout, ensuring the home favorites can't let their foot off the gas.

Expect the Panthers' best game of the series, which should lead to a higher volume of shots. The -125 odds imply a probability of 55.56%, and a $10 winning bet pays a profit of $8.

Stuart Skinner Over 26.5 saves ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rarely do I go with two prop bets that are so closely dependent on each other. However, I'm confident the Panthers should recover well after such a putrid Game 4 display. As such, they should get more shots than previous encounters in the Stanley Cup Final.

Game 4 was an outlier as the game was put to bed midway through, allowing Florida to pour it on - at least in terms of shots - in the third period. For obvious reasons, Skinner's performance in Game 4 went under the radar. He was quietly excellent between the pipes, turning away 32 of 33 shots and finishing the contest with 1.49 goals saved above expected.

Skinner was dialed in and appeared unflappable, resembling his outing against Dallas in Game 6 of the Western Conference Final. The Oilers' offense finally let loose after three frustrating games, facilitating a stress-free and straightforward game for Skinner.

The Oilers' netminder will need to be at his best for the Oilers to hang around in Game 5, and based on his Game 4 performance, he should be on point. The odds mirror the Over 30.5 shots prop, facilitating an $8 profit if a $10 wager hits.

Best odds: -125 via Betway

Matthew Tkachuk anytime goal ⭐⭐⭐

Tkachuk hasn't scored in nine games, which is the longest of his playoff career. Players like him rarely go so long without lighting the lamp - especially for Tkachuk, a playoff specialist.

There are signs, however, that he is on the verge of breaking that unenviable goal-less streak. Tkachuk had several golden scoring opportunities in Game 4 but was repeatedly thwarted by Skinner. He also hit the post early on the power play, leading to the Oilers' opener.

In 2019-20, Tkachuk had his lowest shooting percentage in the playoffs (10% in six games). He has five goals on 77 shots in the 2024 playoffs, a shooting percentage of just 6.5%. That's rock bottom for a player of Tkachuk's caliber, who is used to scoring on a far higher percentage of his shots on goal.

At +187, the Betway odds offer an implied probability of 34.84%. A $10 bet will pay a profit of $18.70 if Tkachuk scores.
