HC, was just wondering if the odds I booked it at were decent. The local book im using has awful spreads on tennis between dogs and favorites (example -140 favorite and even for the dog). Additionally, Johnson was approximately 1.8 at -2.5 games so I was just curious if this was a decent line or as bad as what else I was offered. I'm guessing these odds were far from the best.

#13757to answer you the best going around an hr before the match was 2.35-2.40
most of the odds comparison sites like livescore etc show you the odds avail pre match even after its finished if you wanted to check whether you got decent odds at your local.Comment -

Whether the line offered on favorites' spread is terrible depends on how large the spread is, but most likely in this case it was yes. The -2.5 on Pinnacle dropped to below @ 1.85 pretty quickly an hour or so before the match. The 2-0 line isn't terrible compared to market lines (by which I mean current odds, typically on Betfair and Pinnacle, although margins apply to Pinnacle odds), but I don't like it, because losing a set in the process happens so easily.
Consider this: The probability of a player winning the match 2-0 equals the probability of winning set one with the probability of winning set two. Johnson was around @ 1.7 market odds to win the first set, and 1.7 squared is 2.89. That makes 2.5 (which wasn't available anywhere) look bad. Granted, one might argue that if Johnson wins set one he is likelier to win set two (which is true), but I find it a better option to simply disregard that and instead bet on him to win the first set, circumventing the shittier part of the bet as well as its risk.Comment -

#13761Market holds Zakopalova as a very marginal favorite (@ 1.98), but I think those odds should be inverted, and then some.Comment -

#13764I agree but I have seen several of her matches this year (including yesterday) and she just looks like Grumpy Cat all the time, no matter if she has just hit a winner and is a set up or has lost several games in a row.Comment -

#13775i was being sarcastic in my prev post as us aussies tend to do, and the one before that agreed as it looked stupid if one was watching, similarly the 13 that was avail in the tie (i dont bet live btw, just an observation)Comment -

#13786Had GGL +2.5 and Fabbiano in a parlay @ 3.20ish for a few hundred today. Have no idea why GGL was the underdog.. but still went with the cap knowing he's capable of stinking it up big time!
Which he almost did after being a set and a break up.Comment -

#13787Btw I suggest people keep a close eye on how Rybarikova performs today. Next up she'll have Carla and going on what I saw yesterday, the Spaniard is primed to be upset!
Think we'll get some decent odds on that play. Just have to make sure Magdalena's up for it.Comment -

Anyway I'm not interested unless it's Rybarikova who wins.
She's a good Indoor HC player and I think she'll be a good match up to cause the upset.Comment -
