This problem only recently started a couple weeks ago where I get timed out and have to re-enter my password after only a few minutes browsing the lines. I have reported this to 5Dimes numerous times since then and I keep getting nowhere. They tell me a bunch of bullshit and different stories. I've been told they will forward this matter to their tech department multiple times only to find out that no such action was taken. I've been told that a note was put on my account detailing the issue I was having, but when I called back a couple days later, the rep said no such note existed on my account. The penultimate time I called them, the rep said that that was completely normal and a new parameter had been implemented whereby, ALL (that means you!) players get booted after a measly 2 minutes logged on. I told the guy that this sounded like horse sh*t as what kind of book would only allow their players to be logged in for 2 minutes?! The last time I spoke with them they said I was using a software that was hiding my IP thus I kept getting logged off and asked to re-enter my password. I find this to be bogus and a lazy response to point the blame on my end, as I have used this connection before with no such problems. Furthermore, at my parents' house I had no such issue for a good 2 years or so. As I have stated, this is a recent phenomenon. I have asked if I was put on some sort of short-timer but they assured me that was not the case. Anyone know WTF is up? It's extremely frustrating to have to refresh the lines only to find out that I've been logged off and have to re-enter my password every f*ckin time I try to play there.

#2I am guessing it is some kind of anti-steam countermeasure maybe to delay you when you are hurrying to get on a line before it moves. Or maybe to free up resources for the server. No idea really.
I have the same problem but it seem to vary how long I can stay logged in. Sometimes I get that "you are about to be logged out..." pop-up, other times not. Maybe it has something to do with what time of the day you are logged in.
But I am annoyed by it too and they should do something to remedy it.Comment -

#3Yes, I think we are experiencing the same thing. This is a recent thing, at least for me. I also get the "you are about to be logged out..." pop-up, but even if and when I click on "Stay connected" it still logs me off and asks for my password. I think anyone with reason will agree that this is abnormal. 5Dimes refuses to acknowledge that there is even a problem. I've called them numerous times about this issue. And as I have stated, the last time I called them they had the gall to say that I was using some sort of software to hide my IP and that was what was causing this situation.Comment -

#4This has been the norm with 5dimes for as long as I can remember.
Many books do this these days it is mainly meant to free up their servers but it is also a great deterrent to make life difficult for steam chasers and arb players.Comment -

#6No. It hasn't. The norm has been 10 minutes or so before the "Do you want to stay logged on" pop-up comes up at which point if you click on "yes, stay connected" you will be able to do just that. However, lately it is sometimes like 2-3 minutes of inactivity before you are logged off and required to enter your password again OR sometimes the pop-up comes out, but when you click on "yes, stay connected" you still get booted! Something is definitely going on. I've been playing there for years and have only recently begun to experience this problem since about 2 weeks ago. No way in hell that this is "the norm".Comment -

#7Count me amongst those who have encountered the same phenomena. It has started only recently (a week or two max); you have the betting screen up, you go to make a wager and instead of the confirmation screen appearing, you get logged out. I'd be surprised if its an intentional thing on 5dimes part, it seems like some sort of tech issue that 5 dimes hasn't corrected yet.Comment -

#9Instead of clicking just refresh during commercial break for live lines, I have to re-login, find the right live-play market (there could be a few, NBA/Foot/Base), think about the line value, and then decide to bet, click refresh again just in case line change, enter bet, but the break is over, line off, a bunch of wasted effort.Comment -

#12I don't even get the "you are about to be logged out" message anymore. It's a little annoying when you are looking over lines for a sport with a lot of games (like NCAA football), and you end up getting bounced when you try to bet because the page has been open for 2 minutes. IMO it's not that big of a deal, though. Just enter your password again and you can make your bet.Comment -

#14There are books with very short time windows. 5D is definitely among them. Some years back, Ganch posted some programming solution to get around the problem. I don't think it's been updated recently, but it was helpful. I still like many things SBR offers, but I would be interested to see if they would still allow such a solution to be posted here, as books/advertisers would almost certainly not appreciate it.Comment -

#17i think part of the problem is that CS doesnt know enough about the techincal aspects. i had 3 different people tell me to update my browser or delete cookies. obviously a scripted response to ANY website problem. hopefully somebody from 5dimes will read this and look into itComment -

#20I don't mind timeouts every half hour or so. That offers added security, in case you walk away and forgot to log off. But these short timeouts are just ridiculous.Comment -

#22Why do they offer in-play lines for NFL during commercial breaks if all have to jump through loops to get there? The breaks are so short that I bet more than 80% of us can't make it. So that is what 5D wants for business?

#23yep add me to the list. i only started playing in september and everything seemed fine/normal. Just in the last 2-3 weeks or so it seems to be getting worse and worse every day. i've always used the same connection and same programs running on my computer. and its def not a steam thing or like that b/c i rarely win and i only usually play parlays, teasers, etc. never make bets over $50 (usually more like anywhere from a dollar to about 20). lol in fact i've never even withdrawn before.
its so bad that when im trying to do a multi-sport mega parlay for a few bucks by the time i make my picks and submit it says i need to log back in. like the OP says, sometimes its literally 2 minutes. and also sometimes the "you are about to be logged off" message pops up, sometimes it dont.
wierd thing is the racebook and casino never boot you off (although when you switch away from either to go back to the sportsbook, I ALWAYS have to log back in, even if i was in the racebook for a minute.)
thought it was my browser or broken connections but now i know its not me...Comment -

#29seems to me major problems with books when they have software issues is acknowledging that there is a problem. i dont know if they even realize there is a major issue. it logs out every 2 minutes. it is not supposed to be like this. its the type of thing someone looking to sabotage a sportsbook would put into their software.Comment -

#30I was thinking about starting a thread about this as well.
I do live betting and they keep logging me off. It's ridiculous.
Also, on my netbook, for some reason it won't save my 5 Dimes account number (it saves the password, and the account number box is blank), so I have to keep copying and pasting it in.
Other sportsbooks keep me logged in.
If it were after a half hour of inactivity, that's fine, but they log you off after like 3 minutes.
I haven't been using 5 Dimes for that long, but every time I try live betting (about 5 baseball games, 1 or 2 football), it logs me off like crazy, as if they don't want me being able to get a bet in.[quote=jjgold;5683305]I win again like usual

#31I can also confirm the nonsense with the popup box. It tells you "you are about to be logged out", and clicking to stay logged in often doesn't matter. It boots you anyway.[quote=jjgold;5683305]I win again like usual
