Open Letter Regarding SBR and Sponsored Books Colluding on Payouts
Now I don't know if collusion is the exact term for what's going on, but I'm in the market to get some Sportsbook cash using my SBR points. I'd love to get the cash at BetPhoenix or WagerChief, but according to CS at Phoenix, the minimum withdrawal for a free payout is $500. The minimum withdrawal with a $30 fee is $200. So essentially, you have to quadruple up to get a payout, and more than 10 times up to get a free payout.

I'm awaiting a return email from Richard to confirm that there isn't an exception for SBR point users and contest winners, but there seems to be an arrangment at least between SBR and Phoenix where Phoenix can offer these fantastic contests and low point redemptions without much of a risk of ever having to actually pay out. Even more so, if you meet rollover, shouldn't you be able to cash out? Lets say I meet my 8X rollover and am at $150 and would just like get a check for that. According to Phoenix's rules, I can't.

I just write this as a warning to those seeking to redeem points. You might be better off with books that offer one free payout a month, like Bookmaker, Betjam, or 5Dimes.

go to betjam and stay away from BP family of books at this time. (betmania/wagerchief)

betjam lets you take a check for $200 free once a month or charges you $35 for under $200

having the free payout for $500 and more is just crazy and the book is having trouble in a ton of areas.

Yeah, this really leaves a bad taste in my mouth regarding Phoenix. I suppose it's not really SBRs fault that they're involved, but by sponsoring this book and including them in contests they're giving the book a better name than it deserves. Free payouts only above $500 is ridiculous.

I personally can't play at Betjam because I'm not 21 yet, but I know that 5dimes offers free Fedex money order for over $100 once a month. It's really starting to show that the more points for cash, the stronger the likelihood you'll ever see that cash.

I think that this is an issue with BP. To say that SBR is in collusion, or even to imply that is rediculous. SBR is doing their people a favor by allowing players to use the points that they earn to fund at these books. How many other sites allow you to do this? You are under 21, so you can not even place a wager legally in Vegas. You should be thankful that you can wager at all. I think that you are looking for a handout. If I were you, I would reconsider your post. An apology to SBR would be nice.

            tbill,
Didn't you choose BetPhoenix for your free-play courtesy of the SBR? SBR doesn't spend thousands on its users to find ways to get it back. The sportsbooks set the house bonus rules and that's reflecting in the amount of points to redeem and why BP and it's 8x rollover is the lowest. I'd suggest you research which sportsbook is best for you like you normally would. Use more points for a different book if you want less requirements, or get a gift card if you don't want to play.
Keep in mind you aren't talking about a deposit bonuses. BP offers to run contests for free and most players aren't worried about paying shipping on free money.

BetPhoenix lists $100 minimum for ** but says they will send $50 if player covers the fees.

I do apologize, as after more research this seems to be more of a BP issue than an SBR one. And yes, I understand that it is free money. But I do feel that from whatever end it's coming, there is the promotion of the idea that placing in an SBR contest for one of these sites will ultimately net you the opportunity to get that money. Considering BP and Wagerchief's restrictions, that is very very difficult. It just seems that if you complete the rollover, that should be enough to receive a payout (free or with fees). According to BP, you can't even receive a payout if you complete rollover.

As far as what your last sentence says, I confirmed with BP customer service that this is incorrect. They told me $200 ** minimum and nothing below that. I believe that policy may have changed recently and if so, this should be factored into their rating. Additionally, WagerChief is mislisting their minimum payouts if BP customer service is correct. They list $50, CS said $500. Again, I think this should be factored into the ranking.

Yes, collusion was the wrong word. I apologize SBR, and I thank you very much for giving us so many opportunities to participate at sportsbooks. This is more of a gripe with BP and so let's take it in that direction. You just have to understand that as a college student, anything helps. If I win a contest and complete rollover and end up with $100 in my account, I don't want to have to double that up again for a feed payout or 5X it up to get a free check. But you're right in that I needed to do the research (as I did), and pick the book that is suitable for me (which I also did with 5dimes).

Also, anybody notice that their max win for the Super Bowl freeplay was $300 and you can't get a payout below $200? Seems like a nice way to screw over a lot of people who won the freeplay and completed rollover...

Update: WagerChief is saying $50 minimum on **, which leads me to believe that you are correct Bill Dozer and that the BP customer service is a total wreck. I think I've found out all the information I need to know, I mainly just wanted to get the word out to people regarding BP and Wagerchief about this issue.

Please feel free to lock this thread or change the title to one that is less offensive moderators, I apologize for the misunderstanding.

It's not so much the minimum of $500 that gets me - it is that it has to be in increments of $500 as well. Dang near worthless.

How does it "screw you" if you have to win a certain amount to get a free withdrawal? If you were going to be betting anyway, you'd be betting whether you had money at BetPhoenix, had money at some other book, or if you were betting with Jimmy the Nose the local mafia bookie. If you go up $300 on BP and lose it, it's no different than if you withdrew your $300 and lost $300 to Jimmy the Nose. Almost all books have a rollover requirement with free plays, so you could say just as easily that the book is screwing you by requiring that you roll over your free play winnings 4x or whatever it is.

Sending payouts is expensive, and given the shaky nature of the offshore industry right now, I'm glad that books put a reasonable minimum on withdrawal amounts. If they didn't, people would constantly be requesting tiny payouts with the book absorbing the fees, and the more expenses the book has, the higher the chance they become insolvent.

Yeah, you're right. Once I have a salary and a college degree I will feel much better about this. But there are nickel and dimers like me out there who are trying to just get by with whatever. My tuition just went up by 2 grand this semester so yeah, I'm not exactly taking what few G's I have in my bank account out and throwing them into a sportsbook... I need more security than that.

I apologized, SBR is not at fault here. Phoenix is a little sketchy not offering any free payouts other than checks in $500 increments between $500-$2000 (which as another poster pointed out, is a very sketchy business policy).

I should have rephrased this. I simply wanted people to know that if they redeem their points at BP there may be this issue. It's smallest on the point scale and looks appealing, but harder to get the money out.

Let me see if I am getting all of this:

                                          1. SBR gives you free points which you can use to purchase freeplays at several different sportsbooks while asking for NOTHING in return and you accuse them of collusion.

                                          2. You have made it clear you have no intention of risking any of your own money so any sportsbook unlucky enough to be chosen by you can only lose money in this arrangement with no chance to profit.

                                          3. You complained about Bet Phoenix's rules and regulations when it comes to how they handle withdrawals that originated from a freeplay and want them to make an exception for you and waive all withdrawal fees as well as lower the minimum withdrawal amount.

Richard, if you wind up ever reading this thread, do me a favor and post back and let this guy know that his business is NOT WELCOME AT BET PHOENIX.

Tbill11, I just noticied you have UC Berkeley as your avatar and now everything is starting to make perfect sense.

If SBR or Bet Phoenix were located in the U.S., I wouldn't be surprised to hear that you filed a civil suit against them.

I have no idea who you are but I can say with absolute confidence that you're a left-wing liberal democrat.

                                          ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVEABLE

WHAT WOULD THE U.S. EVER DO WITHOUT PEOPLE LIKE YOU?
