That rule helps build your case to get a full refund, but they obviously can't void the bets since the other bettors did nothing wrong. Good luck
Check your log if you placed a Matchbook offer shortly before NFL early games

#38I received a full refund thanks to Justin@SBR. MB still says that I would not have told them anything if the bet won, but I informed them of the error as soon as I checked the logs at the end of 1st/start of 2nd quarter. I didn't wait until the game was decided. It is still disconcerting to know that this was a manual error -- it can happen again. I guess that I should kill unmatched offers in the reports section just to be sure now.

This matter was only referred to our desk yesterday, and it seems pretty clear cut that if your offer was not flushed at the start of the game, the trade should be voided and all funds returned to your account.
The point we'd like to emphasize is that the unflushed offer was not due to a software bug or system glitch; rather, it was due to a one-off procedural error by the site administrator responsible for closing and reopening this market.
Regarding the partial settlement that was offered to you earlier by Client Services, I think their intuition was that if someone is forced to place a bet on a fair coin toss, then win or lose, that person has not been harmed from a mathematical point of view, since he will win that coin toss as often as he loses.
In your case, Client Services was trying to underline the fact that in the cases where you won this trade, you probably would have accepted the winnings without comment. While there is some truth to this argument, I think it's more important to reassure clients that open offers are always flushed at the start of a game. Matchbook has a spotless record in this regard, and we hope to keep it that way.
Please accept our apologies for the protracted discussion; our Accounts Dept will drop you a note once your balance has been updated.

#39saying you would be a shot taker is uncalled for they should have just refunded the money and left that out.

#40Wonder if they did void it as the email states... could also be problematic for the other person if for example he took your trade and then something the other side for a guaranteed position.Comment -

#41What a relief to get your bet voided. In the end Matchbook handled it properly.Comment -

#42Question: Did Justin7 emphasize you called MB while the game was still in the early going? If he did, it makes MB arguement that you would have kept quiet if the bet had won nonsensical.Comment -

#44I think MB still paid out the winnings to the other side of my offer. They can't justify taking away winnings from someone who simply took an existing offer.Comment -

#45I don't know if he did. I think MB (and traditional books) are paranoid about bettors taking shots at line errors and lumping me in with them.Comment -

#46This was uncalled for cuz it was their fault, but this kind of ended up being a freeroll for the OP. Keep in mind that while this was reported by the OP 15 minutes into the game, there was no resolution until the outcome was known. Therefore he would have gotten his winnings if the bet won.
Congrats on getting this resolved fairly though...Comment -

And then you would have just accepted that? To add even more fuel to that fire, we know from this thread that they werent planning on voiding the bet.Comment -

#48So you think they would have said something like, "Hello, MSDW. After reviewing your request to cancel your bet from X days ago, we are have decided to void your winning bet. Please understand that we would have voided the bet no matter what the result."
And then you would have just accepted that? To add even more fuel to that fire, we know from this thread that they werent planning on voiding the bet.Comment -

I did nothing wrong but it didn't stop them voiding my winning bets

#51No.
It was early in the MLB season.
The site went down for a while and came up not too long prior to the scheduled start of games.
I placed bets on two matches. MB claim I accepted bids which were posted before they went down and weren't flushed when they came back on line.
I received an email after the start of one of the games advising that my bet had been voided. I complained immediately I found the email, whilst the game was still in progress. My bet was a winner.
They also voided my bet on the other game but I got no email to advise of it. I only discovered it later, again before the game was over and complained. My bet on that was also a winner.
The bet on the second game was apparently voided before the start due to a weather delay in that one. But it was too late for me to bet again by the time I found out about it.
MB refused to compensate me for my missed winnings except the extent of some commission credits.
I referred the matter to their regulator who after undue delay not surprisingly eventually concluded that MB had done all they could in the circumstances.
I hold MB responsible for not having flushed the bids prior to bringing the system back on line. In the circumstances I had no practical way of replacing the cancelled bets so missed out on over $2k in winnings.Comment
