5dimes wager dispute: Help needed

I took a wager on 5dimes for Georgetown (1st 10 min) 2nd Half -1½ -112* <small>vs</small> Pittsburgh (1st 10 min) .

Half time socre was 37-22

Acording to ESPN at

10:05

47-34

So I thought I covered with 5 seconds to spare. However the ticket is marked as a loss. Speaking with 5dimes they said the ball was not through the basket at 10:00 so the basket did not count.

They may very well be 100% correct. However public information I have says they are wrong. Anyone out there able to help me verify if this basket made it before the 10:00 mark? Ball has to be 100% through the net by 10:00 for it to count.

Any help is much appreciated.

Play by play tracker indicates 3 pointer was made with 10:06 left in 2nd half. You won your bet.

I am calling bullsh*t on this one. In basketball 5 or 6 seconds is an eternity, did the ball hang in the air that long before going through the basket? Perhaps it was a rainbow up to the rafters that finally came down through the bucket at 9:59? Yeah right. Both CBS and ESPN recorded the basket with 10:06 and 10:05 left in the game respectively.

Did they have had more action on GT than Pitt?

They're wrong, but of course Tony will never admit it. People need to learn to stick with the vanilla -105 at 5Dimes, they will angle props and have a history of just stealing money by grading the side with all the action as a loser (see the hotdog eating contest prop from a few years ago).

I wouldn't be surprised if the Pitt side of that bet lost too (if anyone actually bet it).

That really stinks Isaiah. You won your bet, and five dimes stole a winner from you. One reason I do not bet into five dimes is because of stuff like this.

If this happens more than once, I would withdraw my funds after getting it corrected, and then speak directly to the dumbfukk who said they couldn't change it. Espn 3 does not have the replay loaded for this game yet. When the link is there you can re watch the game on Espn 3.

Hopefully that is not necessary and five dimes gets their shit together.

I stopped betting the college 10 minute bets for this reason, they operate differently than the NBA games, which use NBA.com. 5Dimes says they use their own tape to judge college 10 minute wagers, so it's almost impossible to dispute.

According to the other thread on this, shot was taken at 10:01, and it was damn close. May have gone through at 10:00, may have been at 9:59, guess the book may have been in the right here. ESPN and CBS just put a random time up, thats pretty sad.

5d has a rule on point: NCAA first and next 10-minute results are determined from digital recordings of television broadcasts. The ball must be completely through the cylinder and net before 9:59 remaining for a basket to be official in the first 10 minutes of a half.

This surprised me, since I expected them to use an internet source. But their rule is clear. You might ask them for a copy of the video to confirm it... But if all is what people say, this was correctly graded.

Despite the smack you may hear, 5d is one of the safer books out there, and I'd lay -10000 that they graded both sides consistently. Tony may have a strong ego (don't most winning sports bettors?) but in the one case where he and I disagreed, he treated the player fairly.

If I were writing the rule, I might do it differently. But the rule is clear, and can be verified online. That makes it fair, even if it takes slightly more effort than reading a play-by-play.

Problem with that is which box score? cbs has this basket going in at 10:06 and espn at 10:05. I think video is the best route. As for the basket counting, I think 5dimes clear rule makes sense. Has to be 100% clear of the net. Better then saying ball has to be inside the rim of half way through the basket. I lost the wager fair and square. Had I been on the other side I would of harped if I lost the wager in this case.

Kudos to 5dimes for getting it right. However I did not like the chat I had with customer service. Repeating themselves over and over made me feel they where not listening to me and I felt they did degrade my opinion. I also do not like that they could not provide me any public available source to verify what they where saying. Every wager should have a publically available source they can point to for grading.
