Wow. I hate Ballack, I really do. He's an ugly ass player, but I wouldn't wish this even upon him to miss the world cup. That's pretty sad.

Germany will definitely miss him in midfield.

This was his last World Cup, at age 33.

Now its time for the young blood to come in. Could be a good thing or a bad thing.

Gotta be frustrating going to final in 2002 and losing, eliminated in the semifinals 2006, injured less then a month before 2010.

I was watching the FA Cup on Saturday, and he got subbed due to a ankle injury he had some time ago. But it didnt seem to be that much of an injury to make him lose his final WC.

He has torn ligaments in his right ankle. He needs to wear a cast for about four weeks and won't be able to start training for at least another four weeks more.

As a football fan, you always want to see the best players out there and Ballack would certainly be that for Germany.

Besides from my "no love" for the german coach I still think Germany will show up this WC.
Schweinsteiger is in the best shape of his carreer. He will play the defensive part in the midfield now IMO. He can create good chances in the offense aswell and with Özil and Müller on his side we could see a very creative midfield this year.
If he puts Podolski on the bench and let Cacau and Klose play even the offense looks good.
Tough to say how germany will finish the WC but I don't see them that bad. Could be better with another coach though

I second that! I can't stand him, but it's a shame. On the other hand I don't think he's very good, but he brings leadership and experience to the team. Good luck Germany...

Schweinsteiger can't take Ballacks position because they were meant to play together in the defensive midfield as Germany plays a 4-2-3-1. I think Sami Khedira will replace Ballack.

He did good at some point but theres too many good players in Chelsea and if youre not in the squad week in week out youre losing your motivation

I have no hope for Ozil, he is the biggest flop when it comes to the big stage, guy is mentally weak and not the best player either.

I think the most underrated up and coming German player is Marin but he hardly gets a mention, he is much better, I hope he gets a chance.

How can you say Ozil is a flop?

He is not even on the starting 11, maybe this year because there is no Ballack.

This world cup came 2 years to early for Germany. They have too many young players. The likes of Ozil, Kroos, Mueller are for the future.
