Argentina is one of the worse away teams , they have only scored 5 goals on the road same as bolivia , so does that mean that the Under is a good play?

Most of La Paz is actually higher than that. And the altiplano that surrounds it is over 14,000 feet. Took me a couple weeks to be able to walk a few blocks there without getting winded.

Going to try and update these as the finals come in.

In UEFA Group 6, Ukraine beat Andorra 6-0 and Croatia beat Kazakhstan 2-1.

Ukraine advances to the playoff round with 21 points and Croatia is eliminated with 20 points.

Germany was already qualified and Russia already clinched the playoffs so no changes from the meaningless (not if you bet on them though) results.

france has no chance to win wc 2010, they weren't able to beat us (romania) in the last three matches, and we are the biggest deception in european soccer. Seriba, on the other hand looks strong.
Portugal neighter has real chances, they are weak, except for c. ronaldo and few others, portugal isn;t a great team.
Holland, Spain and England are really strong european teams, with the greatest chances of winning the title. And, of course, we should never forget about Germany and Italy, they can always win this type of competition.

Australia ? This is soccer man, not aussie rules

Mexico ? neah, at most quater finals if they are lucky to have easy opponents.
Brasil always is no. 1 competitor.
Argentina, if they sack Maradona, they have a bigger chance to win it.

Italy 3, Cyprus 2- Italy came back from two-goal deficit in last 12 minutes

Ireland 0, Montenegro 0

Bulgaria 6, Georgia 2

All games were meaningless for WC purposes as Italy had locked up a berth and Ireland will be going to the playoff.

Group 4 game:

Wales 2, Liechtenstein 0

Meaningless game.

According to the FIFA World Cup site, they are seeded according to the next rankings which are due out tomorrow I believe.

I had the seedings in a previous post pending the outcomes. The above post is not the correct seeding (probably close though)

Great info and input from everyone. Can't wait for next summer. Nothing beats the World Cup. When not backing the US I've always been a fan of the Netherlands. I'm also expecting big things from Spain and Brazil, and of course Germany always seems to find a way to get deep into the tourney.

Really wish I could watch Messi and Argentina battle tonight to stay alive.

Chile 1, Ecuador 0- Ecuador eliminated from playoff contention.

From what I recall, the top 4 seeds are put in one bowl and the bottom 4 seeds are in another. Pick one from the top seeds and then one from the bottom seeds and repeat 3 times. Winners from each of the 4 match-ups over 2 legs go to the World Cup. Probably a further draw or coin toss to see who gets the home leg first.

Makes sense TacoMax, pretty much how they do it in other competitions. I would assume that the top 4 and bottom 4 will likely stay the same in the rankings. I'm hoping that Ireland draws Greece as that could be a defensive struggle, first goal wins the tie. Russia-Ukraine could be intriguing as well.

Top upset teams,

Ivory Coast 32/1 - Strongest team player for player in Africa, they have more talent than alot of the European sides and one of the most dangerous strike forces after Brazil and Spain. They are playing in their home continent and will be very motivated and pumped up. Only problem is that the players can be selfish and not play as a team.

Cameroon 120/1 - Another solid African team, strong physical defense and midfield with Eto upfront.

Mexico 120/1 - Nobody knows what to expect, alot of players play domestically in a league that is bigger and of a higher quality than alot of people think.

Serbia 75/1 - Very good and solid team, not to be underestimated.

Russia 36/1 - Gus Hiddink somehow always does well in cup competitions

Most likely teams, Spain, Brazil

Teams not to be written off,

Germany - They somehow find a way to get far even when their team isn't the best German football has been

Italy - Same as above

Argentina - Maradona is a winner, the guy is a living legend in Argentina, the team will be in a trance and with his auro around them they could have that edge, that something special needed to win competitions like this.

England - If they can sort out their psychological problems, they usually get far then start thinking negative, they always have 'how are we going to loose this' in the back of their minds partly due to the media and have problems in penalty shoot outs.

I'll rule out Cameroon, Serbia, and Mexico for reasons I can't elaborate right away. I'm tipping these countries to make the semi-finals, if they don't meet each other before then: Spain, Brazil, Argentina and Ivory Coast. I'm tipping Argentina to win it all. Why?

1). No European country has won the World Cup in another continent and that trend will continue in South Africa.
2) Teams that struggle in qualification tend to go all the way. Recall Brazil in 2002? No one gave them a chance. Even Pele predicted that Brazil would go out in the first round. This time, Argentina has struggled in qualifying and I'm tipping them to win it all.
