Can anyone convince me why not to bet Liverpool +120. Haven't bet in a long time.

#21) Liverpool are away from home
2) They lost Alonso to Real Madrid and the replacement for him is injured
3) Gerrard is doubtful at this timeOriginally posted by pags11SBR would never get rid of me...ever...Originally posted by BuddyBearI'd probably most likely chose Pags to jack off too.Originally posted by curioustaco is not a troll, he is a bubonic plague bacteria.Comment -

#5Gerrard is their key player. With no true injury information, you can't ascertain whether the odds are good or otherwise. However, you might want to check out SBR Lines since you can get Liverpool at +137 at 5Dimes - and on that basis I wouldn't touch Liverpool at +120.Originally posted by pags11SBR would never get rid of me...ever...Originally posted by BuddyBearI'd probably most likely chose Pags to jack off too.Originally posted by curioustaco is not a troll, he is a bubonic plague bacteria.Comment -

#8It does look like Gerrard will be missing, they are unsure at present. However, he is not my main concern. We lost two games last season and a lot of games were played WITHOUT Gerrard and Torres due to injury.
Xabi is a big loss, yes. However, for the time been, Lucas can step into his shoes. Lucas has been showing a lot of promise. Although, not the perfect replacement for alonso, he is improving and will put his work in because he does have something to prove.
Where the concern lies is not with our midfield/forwards, it's in defence. With Agger and Skirtel and possible Carragher injured, it's isn't looking good. Gerrard missing the game wouldn't be the greatest situation but I'm not overly worried.
Despite the issues, I can see Liverpool winning (that is a completely biased view of course). Our last meeting, we beat spurs 3-1. However, last season, ONE of our TWO premier league defeats was to Tottenham at White Hart Lane.Last edited by TheBeautifulGame; 08-14-09, 04:28 AM.Comment -

#12Tottenham greatly underperformed last season. Their squad has now had a chance to meld and i think they will be a force to reckoned with. Tottenham will probably come out punching but liverpool alway does enough to at least draw. Im looking for a 2-2 draw in this one. Ill play probably over as wellComment -

#15Im a liverpool supporter myself. I try not to bet sides in their matches as i would never bet against them and it hurts twice as much when they lose. but i must say the draw looks good here. This weekend looks good for a slew of draws.Comment -

#16. I don't mind betting totals with Liverpool because Liverpool could win 3-0 and I win the bet. I could not bet against Liverpool as in bet the other team to win. A draw is a very likely outcome. I would obviously love to be able to say LIVERPOOL WILL WIN AND THATS A
but lets not get carried away. Liverpool are the favs and the could very we'll win with style. After saying that, there is nothing to stop Spurs from taking the win, they are we'll capable of it. Spurs are no Burnley.

#17Another Liverpool fan here. I never bet on our games but If I were you, I would stay away from this one.
As always, Gerrard is going to be crucial but regardless I always get nervous about games at WHL. You never know which Spurs team will show up. They could play like world beaters one day and relegation fodder the other.
Liverpool also have issues in central defence. Carra and Skrtel should be back but they might not be 100% fit. Moreover, they'll be facing a fired up Keane and Crouch - who would like nothing more than beating Rafa's team.
On the flip side, if Torres decides that he wants to have some fun - there's very little that the Spurs defence would be able to do.Comment -

#21Also a liverpool fan here....and I agree with all the points made above. Yes, we lost to them last season in a terrible fashion at white hart lane and should win this time around but the injury problems have me worried as well. If this wasn't the first match of the year (which can be a bit cagey), I would say the the over 2.5 at even money is a decent bet.
Also, TheBeautifulGame, are you serious about Lucas? I have seen his potential (just pull up the Brazil U20 videos from a few years ago) but he drove me absolutely crazy last year and got us knocked out of the FA cup with that moronic red he got against Everton. I hope you are right though, we need someone to step up while Aquilani is injured. Masch is obviously a fantastic player but doesn't have the passing skills...Xabi was the key to so much of the upfield passing the last few years. Aquiliani is a terrific player but can't stay healthy. Watch out for Plessis this year though, he is coming up from reserves and could be a force to be reckoned with. Big, tall, strong, and surprisingly confident on the ball for such a young kid....plays a bit like Yaya Toure on Barca.

#22At WHL,
Won 0 out of last 5 against Man Utd
Won 1 out of last 5 against Liverpool
Won 2 out of last 5 against Chelsea (the two victories were recent after a long stretch of not beating Chelsea at WHL)
Won 0 out of last 5 against Arsenal
Spurs +0.5 or +0.25 might be a good bet though as they draw a lot against these teams.Comment -

#23The thing about Lucas is that he must have something for Rafa to persist with him. I've seen it in flashes but maybe this is the year (*fingers crossed*)
It's not like Rafa to keep a dud around, as evidenced by how quickly he got rid of Morientes, Josemi, Kromkamp, Bellamy, Keane.Comment -

The injury problems are a big worry for me. There is no news yet as to who is in and out. As I said above, Gerrard is not the biggest worry for me although, it's a concern, I'm more worried about our defence.
I'm serious in a way about Lucas. He's a good player but I agree with you, at times, last season, he was ropey . However, as I said, he does have something to prove to Rafa, he needs to impress. Nowhere near the perfect replacement for xabi but Lucas will play his part and work hard for the team.
I like Plessis and El Zhar. He does not play that often but I also like Dossena
