    Not Another EPL 2014/15 Thread!
Focusing on literally nothing but Premier League and Champions League.

Gonna follow weekly routine, early leans on Thursday and final picks on Friday.

I will analyze Form, Desperation, Key Players - indicators I believe are most crucial.

    Let's make some money!

Nov 1 - Newcastle vs Liverpool:

    Odds: H 3.75 / X 3.6 / A 2.0

The early kickoff on Saturday features a resurgent Newcastle against an inconsistent Liverpool.

    Form:

Newcastle are coming off a fantastic 1-2 road win over Tottenham on Sunday and an unbelievable road win over City in the League Cup on Wednesday. This is a considerable improvement after a rather long run of poor displays.

Liverpool recently played a 0-0 dull draw with Hull at Anfield and a late comeback win over Swansea in the League Cup on Tuesday. Neither result is particularly impressive but the latter does show they don't give up easily.

Desperation: Newcastle picked up an unlikely 3 points over Tottenham on Sunday and Liverpool lost points in their 0-0 draw. Desperation points to Pool.

    Key Players:

Newcastle are happy to see Cabella return from injury and he was fantastic on Sunday, delivering a crucial assist for their 2nd goal.

Despite Balotelli scoring for them in that cup comeback, all eyes are on Sterling. Resting him on Tuesday was a good move and I think it will be one of the deciding factors in this game. I firmly believe Sterling will deliver.

Verdict: Taking this all into account, it wouldn't be surprising to see a draw here. The only problem for me here is Newcastle have over-performed recently and might not play with the same desperation we may see from Liverpool. Although 14 pts currently is a decent place in the table, it just isn't enough relative to last season's results. FT 1-1/1-2

Nov 1 - Arsenal vs Burnley:

    - not interested in high spreads (-1.75); if had to guess, FT 1-0/2-1

Nov 1 - Chelsea vs QPR:

    - same thing here; if had to guess, FT 4-0/5-0

Nov 1 - Everton vs Swansea:

    Odds: H 1.75 / X 3.7 / A 5.0

Later on Saturday, a back-to-normal Everton host a decent Swansea side.

    Form:

Everton played a fantastic 1-3 win away to Burnley on Sunday which saw Eto'o and Lukaku finally partner up to their potential. Swansea delivered a decent performance in their 2-0 home win over Leicester. However, they got rattled in a 2-1 comeback loss to Liverpool in the League Cup on Tuesday.

Desperation: Swansea are sitting in 6th place, a solid position for their ambitions. Everton have 2 pts less in a disappointing 9th place. If they are to somehow fight off Pool, Arsenal, United for 4th, they have to start climbing the rankings now.

    Key Players:

Everton fans will be delighted to see both their top strikers hitting the back of the net but Eto'o is more important. We know Lukaku can deliver but seeing Eto'o score a double means he is still a potent force.

Swansea struck gold by acquiring Sigurdsson this season, who is quickly becoming one of the best play-makers in the league. He delivered yet another assist vs Leicester which means he is also a consistent one. Another important figure is Bony, who has now scored in 2 straight matches meaning he may be back to top form.

Verdict: Despite Swansea reaching their expected levels of performance, seeing Everton's back-line return to their best on top of both Lukaku and Eto'o scoring, I have to go with Everton here. They are much more desperate for the points and might even roll here. FT 3-1/4-1

Nov 1 - Hull vs Southampton:

    Odds: H 3.8 / X 3.4 / A 2.0

Meanwhile, we get to see if a ridiculous Southampton can maintain their striking form when they visit Hull.

    Form:

I have only good things to say about Southampton, as would anyone else. A decent 1-0 win over Stoke coupled with a solid 2-3 win over the same team in the cup midweek, all after their insane 8-0 win over Sunderland means complacency is not really an issue.

I can't say much negative about Hull either. A 2-2 draw at Arsenal and a 0-0 at Liverpool in back-to-back weeks are tremendous results. Their defense is showing signs of improvement.

Desperation: Neither team is desperate, both sitting at good positions in the table. Southampton with 19 pts at 2nd is a tremendous achievement for that club at this point in the season. Maybe it's time they take the foot off the gas?

    Key Players:

I am really liking Hull's pickup in Abel Hernandez. Coming from Uruguay, he sort of reminds me of Suarez in the sense that he plays with relentless energy. I would guard him carefully if I was Koeman.

The two players that stand out this season for Southampton have to be Pelle and Tadic. If they keep linking up to such devastating effect, we might have a new top 5 team, at Everton's expense.

Verdict: Hull are looking quite good and Southampton we all know by now, but something tells me this could be a letdown game for the Saints. That 2-3 win over Stoke on Wednesday was too frantic of a game to not feel any fatigue from and Hull's defense is looking much better. FT 2-1/1-1

Nov 1 – Leicester vs West Brom:

      Odds: H 2.25 / X 3.4 / A 3.2

This may be the least watched game on Saturday but does not mean we can’t profit off of it!

      Form:

Ever since that 5-3 win over United, Leicester have not played well at all. A recent 2-0 loss away to Swansea is not a good showing.

West Brom played two straight similar games in score, but not performance. The 2-2 draw against United was truthfully a deserved 3 pts rather than the mere 1 pt they received. They were quite brilliant at times. However, the following week, they are forced to score 2 goals just to salvage a point vs a poor away team in Crystal Palace. Two 2-2 draws with completely opposite displays.

      Desperation:
Neither team is in a good position and they have got to be disappointed not to be found in the top 10 after their respective brilliant run of games. Leicester must be desperate to turn things around though.

      Key Players:

A few weeks ago, I would have said the key is Ulloa but he hasn’t performed anywhere near the level he played at in the first 6-7 matches. For me, Drinkwater is the man to watch. A brilliant Championship for him last season but a poor start to his EPL campaign. If Leicester are to survive this season, he has got to put in man of the match performances.

West Brom are all Berahino and Dorrans at this point, but the striker is the man to watch. Scoring in 5 consecutive matches means he is one of England’s upcoming young stars and for now, on West Brom as well.

      Verdict:
This match is hard to call, as both teams have been poor recently. However, Leicester are fully rested and desperate to show their fans the 5-3 win over United was not a one-game wonder; West Brom played a cup game on Tuesday. FT 1-0/2-0

Nov 1 – Stoke vs West Ham:

      - I don’t have enough information on this one; gun to head, 0-0

Nov 2 – Man City vs Man United:

      Odds: H 1.85 / X 3.7 / A 4.1

Definitely the marquee matchup of the week. This one should be fun.

      Form:

Man City are coming off 2 completely different games. In one, they thump Tottenham 4-1 in a brilliant performance by Aguero and then one week later, they play a shameful match to lose to West Ham 2-1. Also, they failed at home to Newcastle 0-2 on Wednesday in the League Cup – quite a terrible result having put in some of their starters.

Man Utd salvaged a point in draws in consecutive weeks. Against West Brom, they weren’t that bad, but their defense was typically shaky. Yet again, their performance at home to Chelsea was decent although they were down a goal for some time. They showed good spirit to get the 1-1 draw at the end there thanks to the brilliant Di Maria.

      Desperation:
Both teams will be unhappy with their current standing. Man City’s ambitions must be that of a title win and they already trail Chelsea by 6 pts. United’s goal this season is a top 4 finish and they are currently in an unsatisfactory position if they are to achieve that. No advantages here for either team.

      Key Players:

Aguero, Aguero, Aguero. City are a different beast when that man is at his best. All eyes will be on him to replicate his previous home performance in the league.

On the other hand, we have a United team purely running on the brilliance of Di Maria. While United try to solve their fatal flaw in defense, Di Maria is doing his best to help them score more than they concede, and he is doing a fantastic job. However, you can’t expect them to rely on one guy the entire season. Rooney and Falcao must return to top form, and soon.

      Verdict:
I believe City’s loss on the weekend will only help to raise their efforts on Sunday. They are a better team than what they showed, and at home, should get it done against a poorly-defended and inconsistent United team. FT 3-0/3-1

Nov 2 – Aston Villa vs Tottenham:

      Odds: H 3.7 / X 3.4 / A 2.1

On the same day as that fantastic Manchester derby, we find an out-of-form Villa host a horribly inconsistent Tottenham side.

      Form:

Villa’s form is as bad as it gets. They are setting records by not scoring in 5 straight and although they faced the top teams in the first 4 of those games, they lost last weekend to a pitiful QPR side.

Tottenham have been poor as well. Losing to Man City 4-1 is one thing but failing against Newcastle at home is different story. They were just dreadful in that game, don’t let the commentators fool you. Newcastle thoroughly deserved the 3 pts, they were faster, hungrier and frankly, much more creative. Pochettino can’t be happy with that.

      Desperation:
Despite losing 5 straight, Villa still sit above the relegation zone; somewhere they might end up at if they continue this way. Regardless, Tottenham with 11 pts CANNOT be happy and have to start pushing for results or it will be too late to salvage anything this season.

      Key Players:

For me, the key player on Tottenham must be Eriksen. Lamela does not seem ready for the Premier League, he is just too sloppy. Eriksen on the other hand has been tremendous, scoring the only goal in both their win over Southampton and their loss to City. They need him at his best.

Villa have been so poor, they simply have nobody that stands out. I would say Benteke has been ok, but it will take complete team effort to get them back on track.

      Verdict:
Tottenham are inconsistent and at times, unwatchable. But, Villa have been FAR worse. I say Spurs sneak a late winner here to get 3 much-needed points. FT 0-1

Nov 3 – Crystal Palace vs Sunderland:
      - I have little to say about this one, but as it plays on Monday, I might figure something out.

My biggest critism for your analys is to fail to mention injuries. Aguero was reported semi injuried before the league cup game and did look a bit off against west-ham (wich again you should look up a bit more, hardly shameful to loose away to them the way they have been playing this season imo). Toure is reported to have a small injury same with Silva and Nasri.
If all of those have small injuries well no wounder they havent performed up to standards last two games.

United on the other hand have Jones out, Evans, Valencia and Falcao as doubtfull. While i know Falcao is a major player they do have this Robin Van pierse guy. Quite frankly its tomatoes tomatos.
Also i think you downplay Uniteds performance against Chelsea, i think they were very impressive and for a major part of the game was the better team. But maybe most importantly they played with a hunger they havent played with sense Fergie left.

While offcorse you are right City should win, but with their form it wouldnt suprise me at all if we see a draw. Gonna be a nice game anyway!

              Also you never handicap games?

I will mention injuries when I make the final picks tomorrow. I decided to make leans on Thursday and final picks on Friday because injury news will be more up to date tomorrow.

I will only mention injuries about past game performances if they are critical. Aguero was good enough to play for the West Ham game so that cannot be an excuse. Also, I meant their performance was shameful, not that it is shameful to lose to West Ham. City played with no creativity, looked a different team than against Tottenham.

If by handicap you mean state the exact picks you should bet, I'll do that tomorrow.

                Cheers

Thanks for posting this, in actual fact there's not too much EPL on this forum. Liverpool and Man City are my leans as well. I'm not too worried about City's game against Newcastle, City did themselves a massive favour. Newcastle with a few too many injuries still, and Liverpool have a fresh Sterling. Mario will want to prove himself more.

play newcastle OVERS and come out ahead at the end of the season.. However, they are climbing up the ladder so they may play closer, low scoring games when the O is priced -120 or more.. leaning pool/toon O2.5

If by handicap you mean state the exact picks you should bet, I'll do that tomorrow.

                                Cheers
With Handicaping i mean playing the betting type "asian handicap" you mentioned in your first post for example you arent intrested in Chelsea due to high spread, but predict them to win by a fair margin. So you can handicap for example chelsea at -2 is at 1.82 at the moment (not saying thats good just giving an example of an asian handicap). So i was just asking if you were doing that to or simple 1x2 thread.

Also i do not get the liverpool love here (or Sterling for that mather either). They are not the same team without Suarez. Sturridge out doesnt help either. They cant score, they hardly beat qpr if it wasnt for owngoals. Lost to Villa at home.. lost to basel.. lost to west ham... draw against hull and ffs almost draw against ludogorets (last second penelty). Im forever fading Liverpool untill Sturridge is back.

Now sure Balloteli might wake up from his one and half season slump, he can truely be great! But i wouldnt bet on it, my money is on the home team 3.75 newcastle who just had two excelent performances!
Dont mean to highjack your thread just want to discuss, it is what makes one better in the end!

No problem at all! I live for the feedback...

To answer first point, I bet on anything that works for my picks, asian handicap, 1X2, etc.

Liverpool is my weakest play, it is more of a hunch than actual logic, but a hunch I believe should be good. That comeback win against Swansea will give them much-needed boost of confidence. (both teams fielded top players so that game was no less than a league game)
As well as Newcastle have been playing recently, it often happens that these hot teams fail because they do not play with the same energy as they would when they are facing relegation, cup loss, etc.

Villa are making poor decisions near goal, I see Tottenham having a good 2nd half.

I'll just briefly say that Palace did well against West Brom last week and were unlucky to not get all 3 points. While on the other hand, Sunderland looked like an amateur team home to Arsenal, with just madness from Wes Brown and the GK to gift Sanchez both goals. After that 8-0 loss to Southampton, they look completely lost and I think will just simply lose again today.
