Maybe Deuce can help
. So I need to get a smog check done on my 98 Ford Taurus (yeah whatever, got it for $500 with new tires) and anyways I noticed I have a leak so figured I should get a tuneup done but didn't think the leak was bad. However, I take it to the mechanic and what I get from what he is saying is that my coolant is leaking and he says I needed to get the head gasket repaired or w/e and the job would be $1200. I don't fukkn have $1200 to spend on my $500 car. The only reason I am gettin a tuneup is so I can pass smog. I don't think my car will pass if there's any leaks. I looked online for head gaskets that are fukking up and it says there is smoke coming from exhaust, etc etc but my car drives fine.
Any suggestion of what I should do? I was thinking of just trying to get some of that goop you pour in the coolant that supposedly stops the leaks
Need to get car smogged and pay for registration by September 8th so I need to get this done soon. BTW I live in CA so not sure if prices where you live are different for repairs.
