No way in hell people still have TVs in their homes with dials on them, except for maybe ZetaPsi.
What do kids think when they hear "Don't change that dial!"?

#26Yeah, there were two dials on the TV (VHF and UHF). I remember having to get up to change the channel and remember when we got a remote control; we used to call it the 'clicker' because it clicked when you pushed the button and it would actually rotate the dial on the TV. Much simpler times.Comment -

Had 4 local channels, TBS, PBS, I think ESPN but can't really remember. It was a simpler timeComment -

#35There are lots of examples in modern English of anachronisms that still convey their original meaning despite the loss of context.
"Shut your face" refers closing the visor on one's helmet.
"Son of a gun" is a reference to the habit among (mostly) British sailors of having sex on the gun deck in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
"The third degree" is a reference to Masonism.
"Under the weather" is another term originating form the British navy.
"With bells on" refers to a practice peddlers had when they roamed the area west of the Appalachians selling wares. To avoid Indians, they traveled as silently as possible until they reached a settled area and then unmuffled their bells thereby announcing their presence.
