Obama does nothing because he is weak in foreign policy. He started to show his incompetence in 2009 when Iranians demonstrated in the streets and Obama did fukk all. He blew a great chance to be a champion of freedom and human rights. He chickened out.
He is doing the same regarding Libya. Nothing! Reagan or Bush or even Clinton would have demanded Gaddafi step down and harshly denounced him.
Obama's usless.

The actual title of this should be: BP, Exxon, and Texaco will let Gaddafi do his thing.
The last thing disaster capitalism wants is actual representative democracy in the third world. Our corporations prefer the likes of Gaddafi, Pinochet, Marcos, Noreiga, Diem etc to run these backwater countries

Both him and Mubarak were blaming outside influence,I think the past few months could be a movie plot.
Oil companies wants to make up for lost profits in spilt oil and fine costs so it foments dissent amongst a few key countries in an oil rich region.
The premise works.Let's make a movie.
I heard if BP is found liable it could cost as much as $4000 a barrel in fines.
That is an expensive barrel of oil

If he isn't killed buy some shares in Exxon. If he is killed, the economic recovery will resume.

A revolution is a people rising up against oppression. If you don't live in that country how are you being oppressed? It would be great if every country could take care of there own.

The problem is that as long as this "revolution" continues, the price of gasoline will continue to go up and up. This is a convient excuse for the big oil companies to raise their prices. Obama is spineless. Now he is saying that even though the nation is suffering, he will not tap into the reserves, and will not allow any more drilling. Obama is a complete and total idiot. He had better do something, or he will lose even more support than he has already lost.

Anyone who truly thinks the Bush administration would handle this issue well must have an extremely short memory.
Attempting a resolution to this through diplomacy and sanctions, as part of the wider international community, will save far more lives on both sides, than a repeat of Bush's gun-ho approach. Meanwhile, concerns over the oil price should pail in comparison to the possibility of another $3 trillion conflict.
Obama haters should be grateful that his 'pussy/bitch'-like 'verbal b.s.' prevents people they know coming home in coffins...

Another Liberal know-nothing. No one said to invade Libya. There is no need to do this. A "No Fly Zone" will do the job. Take out Libya's Air fields. That can be done with missles launched from Subs. No one is campaigning for an invasion, or any use of ground forces. Stop the Libian Air Force, and let the Libians fight it out on the ground.
The trouble with you Obama brown nosers is that you fail to see what his policy of "Big on words, small on action" is costing the nation. You seen totally ignore what a terrible economic effect this "revolution" is having on this nation. The fact that what is happeing in Libya is just a conient excuse to raise oil prices is totally besides the point. What is important is that oil orices are skyrocketing and Obama is doing absolutely NOTHING to stop this.

While i do suport a no fly zone taping into the reserves is and should be a very last resort. We never know whats comeing tomarow and we dont need to tap our reserves just to make life easy. As people we should stop driving evryware and turn down the heat in our homes drive the price back with redused demand not just bitch about it while we fill out 12 mile per gallon SUV up toi drive to the corner and pick up a half gallon of milk.

BigDaddy, I'm not saying the discussion is to whether to invade Libya either, merely pointing out that Bush's handling of Saddam was far from flawless. I was criticizing the idea that Bush is somehow the miracle man to solve this problem, when equal if opposite criticisms can be leveled at him. Things can go drastically wrong, and fast, if decisions are made rashly and without the support of other nations. No doubt something needs to be done, but it needs to be done more tactfully than giving Gaddafi a slap, or however people choose to put it.
Its troubling that the thing you deem most important in a civil war is that oil prices are sky-rocketing, yet I'm not naive enough to realize its the major factor in decision making here.
