#11272How did the IRS know you made a significant percent of your money from tips??? They just made it up OR you or your employer gave them an estimate? I already know the answer but I’m not quite sure you know.
Like I said before, the IRS does not assume anything. They can only go by what is reported.Comment -

#11278do your homework. The Taliban changed the rules and Trump wouldn't accept it. Biden was dead set on the 9/11 anniversary date so he put security and those that helped the US in jeopardy by leaving the wrong way. All for a stupid date. 13 soldiers dead, hundreds of Afghans who helped America left behind, billions in equipment left behind, and people falling off planes as America left. What a fukking asshole Biden is. America fukking last as usual. Just like the border. Biden is weak and evil takes advantage.Comment -

As in selectively prosecuting white supremacists while not prosecuting Antifa for the same thing. In his decision, Carney granted the defendants’ motion to dismiss, agreeing that Rundo and Boman were being selectively prosecuted, while “far-left extremist groups, such as Antifa” were not.
“Prosecuting only members of the far right and ignoring members of the far left leads to the troubling conclusion that the government believes it is permissible to physically assault and injure Trump supporters to silence speech,” Carney wrote in his order.Comment -

Oh, wait he puts fear in Russia, China, Iran, NK, but the Taliban pushes him around! Now that is some funny shit. Glad you did your homework and let us know that. Didn't think you would admit it. I was wrong I can say it when I am.Comment -

#11283If the USA was invaded with tanks and thousands of bombs, killing thousands of civilians with a huge military presence. I am sure you would be for not attaching them in their country.
It's good to know you would be understanding and peaceful. I guess you would just call them up and talk it out and forget all about the thousands of Americans they killed.Last edited by ByeShea; 08-25-24, 07:05 PM.Comment -

#11286Well, he drew down the troop presence to a fraction of its high number and there were ZERO combat deaths in the final 18 months of Trump's term.
Apparently he couldn't withdraw responsibly in a 4-year timeline.
Biden, however, did not care about the "responsibly" part ... he announced a pull out date which gave terrorists time and place to plan and they struck. We also turned over the hugely strategic airbase our tax dollars built (belongs to the Chinese air force now) and left behind tens of billions in military hardware.
Biden's get-out of Afghanistan was fukkin' disaster on every level and his presidency, in fact, never recovered from that debacle.Comment -

#11287All good. The least I could do is clean up my side of the street, I didn't have to get that cute either.
But I don't think Trump on his best day could nail the issue for me like RFK Jr. did in his speech:
I want to say a word about the Ukraine war. The military-industrial complex has provided us with that familiar comic book justification like they do on every war. And this one is a noble effort to stop a supervillain, Vladimir Putin, from invading the Ukraine and to thwart his Hitler-like march across Europe.
In fact, tiny Ukraine is a proxy in a geopolitical struggle initiated by the ambitions of the US neocons for American global hegemony. I’m not excusing Putin for invading Ukraine. He had other options, but the war is Russia’s predictable response to the reckless neocon project of extending NATO to encircle Russia: a hostile act. The credulous media rarely explain to Americans that we unilaterally walked away from two intermediate nuclear weapons treaties with Russia and then put nuclear missile systems in Romania and Poland. This is a hostile, hostile act. And the Biden White House repeatedly spurned Russia’s offer to settle this war peacefully.
The Ukraine war began in 2014, when U.S. agencies overthrew the democratically elected government of Ukraine and installed a handpicked pro-Western government. They launched a deadly civil war against ethnic Russians in Ukraine. In 2019, America walked away from a peace treaty, the Minsk Agreement, that had been negotiated between Russia and Ukraine by European nations. And then in April of 2022, we wanted the war. In April 2022, President Biden sent Boris Johnson to Ukraine to force President Zelenskyy to tear up a peace agreement that he and the Russians had already signed. The Russians were withdrawing troops from Kiev, Donbas, and Luhansk. And that peace agreement would have brought peace to the region and would have allowed Donbas and Luhansk to remain part of Ukraine.
President Biden stated that month that his objective in the war was regime change in Russia. His defense secretary, Lloyd Austin, simultaneously explained that America’s purpose in the war was to exhaust the Russian army and to degrade its capacity to fight anywhere else in the world. These objectives, of course, had nothing to do with what they were telling Americans about protecting Ukraine’s sovereignty.
Ukraine is a victim in this war, and it is a victim of the West… both Russia and the West. Since then, we have forced Zelenskyy to tear up the agreement. We’ve squandered the flower of Ukrainian youth. As many as 600,000 Ukrainian kids and over 100,000 Russian kids, all of whom we should be mourning, have died.
And Ukraine’s infrastructure is destroyed. War has been a disaster for our country, as well. We have squandered nearly $200 billion already.Last edited by ByeShea; 08-25-24, 07:31 PM.Comment -

#11288It was from my job. The employer doesn't know how much cash I make per shift, and the IRS doesn't differentiate between days and hours worked. If you're a bartender on Saturday 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM your withholding taxes are the same as someone who works 12:00 AM - 8:00AM on Tuesday morning. That will be a real problem when there's a recession.Comment -

#11291All good. The least I could do is clean up my side of the street, I didn't have to get that cute either.
I'd imagine - my view on all things regarding the NATO expansion in recent decades has flipped. I do not believe it is not of good faith. Each new nation commits 1-2% of GDP to NATO and the bulk of that goes to American military contracts ... the very industrial-military complex that Eisenhower warned about 60 years ago.
But I don't think Trump on his best day could nail the issue for me like RFK Jr. did in his speech:

Never believe anything Trump says without checking it out, odds are he is lying most times.
This is from 5/17/22/
THE FACTS: While speaking in Austin, Texas, on Saturday, Trump claimed while discussing the U.S. war in Afghanistan: “When I was in charge, in 18 months, we didn’t lose one American soldier.”
During Trump’s presidency, which ran from January 20, 2017, to January 20, 2021, there were 45 combat deaths among U.S. service members reported in Afghanistan, as well as 18 “non-hostile” deaths, according to the Defense Casualty Analysis System.
During the last, full 18 months before Trump left office in January 2021 — from July 2019 to December 2020 — there were 12 combat deaths reported.
Trump misleads on Afghanistan casualties | AP News
He should have said the last 10.5 months that would not have sounded good enough, so he lied again.,
The tens of billions in military hardware that was left behind, most was never coming back anyway. The cost of bring it back was huge plus a lot of it was damaged beyond repair.
If it was feasible to bring the hardware back, why not get a good start on it during the draw down of troops?
Military contractors are in the business of getting contracts to build. They push the elected government officials they help get elected to do their bidding.Comment -

#11296If it went on the W2, yes. If it was cash, no, so the IRS raised my withholding taxes to compensate. That would be a real problem if I made $13 + tips per hour and the IRS taxed $24 per hour in my withholdings, assuming I made $50 in tips, but I only made $25 or less because of a bad economy.Comment -

#11297You need to read the tax code. It’s pretty simple. The IRS didn’t raise your withholding. That would be you when you filled out a W-4, reported your actual tips and when your company reported it to the IRS.
Provides information and resources dealing with reporting tip income for all industries that deal with tipping of employees.
Employer responsibilities
The employer has multiple obligations regarding employee tip income including recordkeeping and reporting responsibilities, collecting taxes on tips, filing certain forms and paying or depositing taxes.
Employers are required to retain employee tip reports. Employers are also required to withhold taxes (including income taxes and the employee's share of social security tax and Medicare tax) based upon wages and tip income received by the employee and to deposit this tax. In addition, employers are required to pay the employer share of social security and Medicare taxes based on the total wages paid to tipped employees as well as the reported tip income. This information and tax are finally reported to the IRS on the appropriate forms by the employer.
Tips reported to the employer by the employee must be included in Box 1 (Wages, tips, other compensation), Box 5 (Medicare wages and tips), and Box 7 (social security tips) of the employee's Form W-2. Enter the amount of any uncollected Social Security tax and Medicare tax in Box 12 of Form W-2. For more information, see the General Instructions for Forms W-2 and W-3.
Employers must report income tax, and social security tax and Medicare taxes withheld from their employees' wages and the employer share of social security and Medicare taxes on Form 941, Employer's QUARTERLY Federal Tax Return, and deposit these taxes pursuant to federal tax deposit requirements.Comment -

#11298If you are being withheld too little or too much, you need to adjust your W-4. You can also adjust how much is paid in taxes by estimating your tax. Say you make more money in January versus April, you can always adjust. This is not rocket science.Comment -
