The other day the "classic rock" station here in Allentown play Europe's The final countdown. You're lucky to have the skid row song compared to the final countdown to sticking my head in a microwave. I almost checked out but we got a little Breaking the law afterwards so I was able to pull out of the death spiral I was trapped in.

Now there's a time and place for Billy Joel, like anything pre "The Stranger", but "Big Shot" ain't classic.

Miami 2017 is, so is Angry Young Man, but yeah, Big Shot isn't classic.

^^ I see BTO above, which reminds me of a kinda funny story when I worked as a Doorman/Bouncer in a nice venue in Daytona Beach after I discharged from the Service (couple Army buds had a rental house and were going to Embry-Riddle, so I decided to join them to check out school options) -- This joint was no stranger to seeing celebs (Dolphins players, musicians, occasional actor/actress... hell, I provided security to Mike Love & a Playboy Playmate of the year, once -- they were together -- pretty sure I detailed that fukked up story on SBR years ago).

So... I had gotten the job there cuz I had become good friends with the guy that ran the joint and was the leader of the house band (they were very good... my friend was a well-known musician in the area, had recorded some with Bertie Higgins, who had that god-awful early 80's hit "Key Largo", he knew the legendary Pete Carr, R.I.P., a lil bit) so, it wasn't unusual when musicians came thru Daytona that my friend would party with them... pretty standard stuff. Occasionally, I'd get to tag along to a decent party here & there (my friend had me by about 15yrs, I was early 20's, I watched his kid, was friends with his wife... he didn't really want me to see ALL the debauchery that would take place with the drugs, women, etc.) -- BUT, speaking of Nazareth above ^^... I did once get to briefly hang out with them for a lil bit, more the roadies than the band, as the band guys took off after bout 1/2hr or so.

So, one early eve I come in to work... my friend is AWOL. Where's he at? He's got a show to do in a coupla hours and he's nowhere to be found. One of the bartenders tells me he's been partying with Randy Bachman for hours & hours, all damn day (they cruised off in a limo, coke, girlies, etc.)... probably 50/50 he's gonna make it back by showtime; and if he does, who knows what condition he'll be in. As Diggity would say: "AWWW, FUKK!" Tonight's gonna be really screwed!!! (partying suppose to happen AFTER we closed for the night!!!)

Half-hour before showtime... HE'S BACK! And he's beyond fukked up... seriously, most fukked up, drugged/drinked out I ever saw him. Comes up to me and a coupla others and starts regaling us about all the shitt that he & Randy have been doing all day (it's everything you'd imagine). He's happier than a pig in shitt and feeling good. Performs rest of night... he's not great but he pulls it off well nuff to muddle thru.

Couple days later, leading off the local Daytona Evening News, is the story of a conman that just got arrested for... (drumroll)... impersonating Randy Bachman! (muthafukker *really* did look like Bachman, wtf?) -- got busted at a car dealership that had already given him a Porsche (or maybe Corvette, can't remember which) to ride around in for a number of days prior, they were fooled, too. OOPS... pretty awkward for my bud... hey, shitt happens.

And YES... a huge HELL NO vote in Donker's poll... as in HELL TO THE FUKKIN NO!!!
WDIZ outta Orlando was the primo rock station 'round there in the 80's... fukk hair bands, fukk grunge.
