#2To pass the gun accuracy police test.
You need to be able to shoot a target 10 feet away.
You're allowed to miss it a few times.
Lack of proper training is standardized.Comment -

#3Look at this video. What a crock of shit.
The Captain gives his standard, prepared, lawyered speech to give to public. Just a "cut and paste" answer to every problem they create.
Another perfect example of a "being all big" cop shooting first thou. This numbnuts so pathetic he misses his point blank target, which evidently was "a lab mix" so basically Fido. Dont get why we're shooting Fido instead of petting him or distracting him with a stick or biscuit.
Just more evidence cops can't do a fukkin thing right. "We're here to help, it's the police" ya right, lock your door and take cover, they'll mow you down and then cite you just to make their quota on tickets and justify their miserable existence.
I hope this lady's family sues the shit out of the city, and that cop personally. Bankrupt him and blast his name everywhere- ruin his shitty life so he never works again and everyone he meets will know he's a bout reckless killer, and then bankrupt that stupid city so their council can fire all but one or two cops....just enough to fill out the insurance reports. That's about the only thing a cop is good for.Comment -

#4Cop will get slap on wrist. Until all pigs who do shit like this face full legal prosecution and get stripped of job, without the ability to end up in another law enforcement job ever again and lose all benefits accrued and promised during their career it will continue.Comment -

#7Dog was charging the cop and he did his job, stray bullet hit the owner.. She should have controlled her dog and this would have never happened..
Again owner negligence caused this, cop was defending himself.. She was just in the wrong place.. Shiiit happens.. I don't see a problem with this..
Maybe that cop should take more reps at shooting targets in his off time.. Go to the range more.. He's missed his target by mistake and he should get a desk job for now. He's a bad shot..Comment -

It's like when I taught a couple of college classes. People would blame me for giving them crappy grades. No, they gave themselves the failing grade for being dumb and not studying.Comment -

#12As long as there are arseholes like you around, there will be people like me ready to take you down, one way or another. You ex-cons are all the same. Step into my neighborhood arsehole and mouth off like that and see what happens to you. But you, are too chicken s**t to do that.
This woman is dead because of an untrained, unqualified wanna be cop couldn't handle a rather bland situation.
Aren't there dogs in European countries??? They don't arm their policing agencies....how do they deal with these situations??? They deal with them like reasonable, rationale adults and not wild west cowboys.Comment -

#13Why do you keep calling me an ex con and an asshole? We have never met. You keep threatening me as if it is needed to justify your position in a forum thread....it's not. It actually detracts from it.

If this incompetent goof is allowed to remain in law enforcement he will panic again and do something stupid. The dog could have been handled with his baton, flashlight or bean bag gun.Comment -

He just missed his target and hit the chick in the crossfire and it was just an unfortunate mistake.. Like I said he should get a desk job for a while now because he didn't assess the situation properly and took horrible shots and missed.. Cop was a bad shot. Sit his asss down.
No criminal charges should be brought up though, Cop wasn't aiming to shoot the dogs owner.. It was a mistake.. A costly one.Comment -

#18Dog should have been trained to not charge a cop, better yet the owner should have had it on a leash.. It's really the dog owners fault if you want to blame anyone? If the Dog doesn't charge the officer on a public walk way he would have never fired a single shot..Comment -

I'm just saying if an angry dog with teeth showing is charging at me and I have a gun, I'll probably use it on the dog also. I'm not gonna get chewed up. That's all I'm saying..

#27Hmmm? Well there is a bit of a difference from running a red light and killing someone because you're an idiot and not paying attention compared to firing at a angry dog running at you to defend yourself from receiving bodily harm and a stray bullet taking out someone...
I guess we will just have to respectively disagree on this Hman. I see it differently...
But couldn't both incidents considered idiocy, lack of judgment, or a number of other things?
Trust me I see your side of it too.
I've just never believed police officers should receive special treatment.
If they get killed in duty, they are heroes.
If the construction worker directing traffic on a heavy highway during his job which is just as dangerous or even more so, you never hear a word about it.
But you'll also see me defend officers these days with these morons thinking they can get away with anything and should be punished on the spot.Comment -

#30This is a tough one. The biggest mistake was the dog was loose. I assume there are leash laws this would have never happened if the dog was on a leash or tied up .
The lady was a homeless lady i read. Maybe has mental health issues and the dog is hanging around her idk. The pulling of a gun think was a bit excessive shouldn't he have pepper spray or mace most cops do i thought. I cannot tell wth the dog was doing . Running to attack or whatever but under no way shape or form was this more then a horrific accident. It was not like he was drunk and killed someone. Idk what was going through his head as the dog was running at him.
So this one is a bit tougher to call. Normally it is easy some idiot is breaking the law and resists arrest and gets killed i always am on the side of the cop on those . This one is tougher for me to call. She was at fault for not controlling the dog and he was at fault for drawing a gun in that situation. Or was he ? Did he really feel his life was threatened ? IDK.Comment -

#31How was this woman homeless, when her Dad is a fire captain? No spare bedroom Dad? Can't let your daughter sleep in your basement, or at the fire house? Piece of trash Dad.
If a homeless woman can't afford rent, how does she afford dog food & vet bills? Apparently she couldn't afford a dog leash. If you can't take care of yourself first, you shouldn't be taking care of other living things. Whether it be animals or children.Comment -

#34Right and even as a parent you can only do so much. My stepfathers son my stepbrother was a druggie. Almost died a couple times. Have not seen him in years could be dead for all i know. My stepfather has passed away since but before he kept giving him cash thinking he used on bills . It wasn't all on drugs. I tried getting him a job. Did not want one just wanted to use women and get money for drugs (He was very persuasive had women lined up) . When my dad died he came over acting like he wanted to help with the funeral arrangements and tried sneaking in the other room we had locked to steal stuff. That is the kind of person he was. He ended up marrying a girl he met in rehab . One day he stole her car when her money ran out(still on drugs) and took off with another girl. Have not seen him since in years.Comment -
