#143this is where the dead guy's wing man truly failed him..... A true fckin' G would have bailed out of the passenger's seat once dumb cop ran after the "rabbit", hopped into the cop's car, and ran the fck over the cop.......... pick up his buddy in the patrol car, and go on a GTA "vigilante" missionComment -

#145And it's also easy to distance yourself from this incident because its a stranger on the internet.
Cop was justified... Guy shouldn't have ran.
I guarantee you 100% that if he was some one you knew or someone you cared about, there's wouldn't be a doubt in your mind that it was a bad shooting & youd be suing the cop, the city, the force....anyone you could sue. Without question.
But it wasn't your brother or cousin or Father.
....its just another guy killed by a cop on the net, so wgi cares?
So might as well exploit it.Last edited by Jayvegas420; 04-11-15, 09:21 AM.Comment -

#148most irrelevant post in the history of SBR...I wish it was him in NYC when Abner Louima (Haitian immigrant with an engineering degree) got assaulted, brutalized, and sodomized with a broomstick by a bunch of officers who were clearly in the wrong (yet AGAIN!) ...this story made national headline news and I'm not sure if you were aware of it or not...but point being is that young black male in the video would have had an entirely different perspective if it was him that was on the receiving end of what happened to Abner Louima.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abner_Louima
Chris Rock's famous skit about it.....hell even Jeezy in his 'don't get caught' track talks about acting civil and life goes on. You don't have to be an idiot and run when pulled over is the point...or pick a verbal argumentComment -

#150it's still not justification for murder you jackass!...hell, all of us here at SBR have been pulled over by the cops at one time or another and I'll assume 99% of us acted just like the black man in the video...politely and respectful...no need to pat him on the back for doing something that all of us would have done anyhow...PS..chris rock is another racist black turd...I really don't give one fuk about him or any of his shitty acting and/or skits.
YES, the cop did a bad shoot, but ultimately scott could be alive today...this wasn't a racial hunting by an evil cop...just a situation that turned bad and the cop made a life changing mistake and he's being held accountable.Comment -

#152Its not right when people see this as us against them and feel the need to justify the individual in the wrong against the victim. Its disgusting when something like this happens when the aggressor is white and the victim is black and immediately the question is asked well what is the back story, looking for impotent justification. Seen the same" justification" in the Trayvon Martin case, weak arguments like well he wasnt an angel, he smoked weed, seen it in the Brown case, oh found some pics, he's a thug. The media will find another incident soon where the aggressor is black against the opposite race and Im almost certain a back story wont be put forth as justification.Comment -

#153if cops wanted to really worry about their safety they would pick a side. Either you love the war on drugs and enforcing ridiculously useless traffic stops that ultimately are the most dangerous times you always say, or stop. The reality is stopping would mean a loss of 20k+ jobs or so and billions in "funding" which really means funding their individual bank/retirement accounts. 20 in 20 out right guys!
and that doesn't even touch on the special interest groups like private prison operators who don't like empty cells.Last edited by brooks85; 04-11-15, 12:17 PM.Comment -

exactly...
and what is crazy about that video, other than people thinking it was a good idea to have a 73 year old participate, is the aftermath after the old guy clearly made a deadly mistake. All the other cops don't even bother trying to save him, instead they handcuff him and tell him "penetrate your breath."
But since he is white, there will be no media coverage or even an investigation last I heard. Just chalk it up to user error!Comment -

#166If the cop though intended to flat out murder the guy why would he pull out a tazer? I agree though he did not have to shoot him. But if he just wanted to murder him why not just shoot at him when he ran the first time? Also, if the guy would have just stayed in the car nothing would have ever happened the cop actually was being very polite to him during the stop he may even have been let off with a warning .Comment -

Let us even assume that he may have even been a good dad. Maybe he just had financial problems and just could not pay it. Maybe he was there for his kids as best as he could. I know that is stretching it but let us just assume.
Now there are 3 videos that have come up so far. The Video of the actual traffic stop. The Video of the shooting itself. And a Video of a couple minutes after the shooting.
The first Video is totally mind boggling . After watching and listening to it i cannot figure why he chose to run. People say because he did not want to get shot. That is 100% incorrect. At that point everything was going in Walther Scotts way. I think if it kept going like that he would have got off with a warning. He even gets out of the car before he runs to wave at the cop. Out of the blue he jumps out and starts running. His life was never in danger at that point .
The second video starts with what looks like the tazer falling to the ground. This is where i wish it had a few more seconds to see what happened right before that. Keep in mind though he did not fire at him or draw his gun yet. If he just wanted to "Murder " him why not shoot when he was running before? But i wonder what happened before that maybe he grabbed at the tazer or even possibly his gun? It was on this second video he gunned him down. But it makes me wonder "Why now?". I mean, he chased him down the first time without drawing his weapon and had no intention of shooting at him. Why did he decide to fire at him the second time he ran?
The third video is not good for the cop as it shows him picking up the tazer and dropping it by the body. It makes it look like he was planting evidence.Comment -

How do you know he hadnt drawn the gun before, how do you know how long the chase was, how do you know he simply was just tired of chasing him and realized he has the upper hand and could end it at any time with his gun by shooting. Why did he decide to fire at him the second time he ran?

No doubt that the picking up and tossing down of the taser was a bad move. Also if you watch it in full he actually picks it BACK up and puts it in his holster while the other officer is over the body. Strange.
You are correct about the moments leading up to the shots fired. For one, he says he either just bought the car or was buying it after the weekend, whichever version was the truth, not something a good dad behind $18,000 on support would be doing but lets put that aside.
The running was stupid....officer did give chase initially and the guy videoing said he caught him and they went to the ground...officer looked to be in control but not enough to cuff him....Scott gets up and thats when the taser happened...again the civilian videoing said he could hear the taser engaged...so either Cottt swatted it out of the hands of the cop or the cop dropped it soon after but either way it did go flying and once Scott then runs away you can see the taser line still attached to his shirt/body. So I don't think it was a premeditated murder by any means but instead turned into adrenalinew of the chase, the struggle, the taser not stopping him and once the taser was swatted or whatever, I'm sure cop just said screw it I'm drawing....bad choice in hindsight.Comment -

I am talking about the first video only here . Where he was in the car not on the ground. Some people on the first video said he ran because he did not want to get shot. In that video when he was in the car his life was nowhere near being in danger. You have to be talking about the second video . I cannot see how you can possibly think his life was in danger when he was sitting in his car.
The second video starts with what looks like the tazer falling to the ground. This is where i wish it had a few more seconds to see what happened right before that. Actually yes a bunch on forums online think he wanted to murder the guy. I just did not think that made sense. And that is a great point you made about not wanting to be on dashcam. But i know he did catch him at one point because he had him on the ground when the second video started. So if he caught him at one point if his gun was out and he really wanted to shoot him why didn't he? Actually if he would of at that point it looks like nothing would have been caught on video at all. That is why i wish i had a few seconds more video to see what happened right before the tazer fell. Also when he ran he was not running very fast i would really be surprised that the cop would be tired from chasing a guy down twice his age.
Now on the second video i can see maybe somewhere in there he thought his life was in danger so he ran. Depending what happened when he caught up with him. But again it is hard to know because the video does not pick up what happened before he dropped the tazer.Comment -

JToler brings up a good point. Maybe he was on better behavior because of the dashcam. Like you said though according to one witness he did catch him and they went to the ground. That means if that is true he could have had drawn his gun and shot him . The guy just did not strike me as being all that fast even when he ran the 2nd time he was really slow.
I think what you said makes sense he got caught up in the moment and made an extremely bad decision. Then after realizing it was a bad mistake he moved the tazer to the body.Comment -
