I meant if the genie smashed one of the other 2 at random and it came up empty, all the choices are the same EV. If the genie knows which one is empty to smash, then you should trade actually, not take the 5k.

The genie knows everything. For all you know, both of the remaining piggies are empty. No matter which you choose at first, the 10k or one of the empties, the genie will be holding at least one empty piggy bank among the two he has. So don't worry about whether the genie was smashing at random, know that the smashed piggy bank was an empty piggy bank.

Now there two left, one of the two you face is empty and one has the 10k. Keep, trade or take 5K?

You say trade? Why? In that case, what price, other than 5k, can the genie offer for you to walk away?

If the genie smashed at random without knowing and pulled an empty, then there is a 50/50 chance you have it.

The way you defined it, there is a 1/3 chance you have the money. So trading gives (2/3)(10k) EV the offer price. 5k is still better than keeping it obviously.

I came to an opinion on these games but I have to warn you , Friday night Ivy league can be some dirty shit. I consider, in most cases, Friday night Hoops (as in NCAAA Hoops) to be slightly higher risk than other times. That said, there can be gems to end the week and start the weekend.

I don't know if it is a gem or not, it's a bit risky but I say no Dart, but Yale -7 or even -7.5. That Iowa win was too easy, instilled too much confidence and I believe some of that money will be given back on Dartmouth. We've seen the line drop from -8.5 to -7 and I think that's some of the money. It isn't exactly sharp, but we could see a 7 or 8 point game here.

(Hint: We saw a similar situation in the NBA when Atlanta lost right after the SuperBowl, I think Inno was in on that).

The Penn game is a pretty good OVER bet. Now, remember, that's a pretty good bet on a risky night. The line went down a tad to 122.5 from 123.5 and probably will rest at 123. This was a sharp line. Folks liked the under 123. 5 and will surely come in with Over 122.5. Should be interesting.

Risky but what the hell, Yale -7 or even -7.5 (hope the hook doesn't spoil here) and Penn/Cornell Over 122.5 or 123.

good stuff kvb.....I have Yale between -8.5 and -9....being that dart won outright as a dog last time, I would side with yale

rolling with okc -6.5, lakers +4.5, and timberwolves +8.5.....both dogs are too soft imo,

i think Magic -6 and Memphis -13.5 would be the norm......
