Real talk here. I’ve been to many, many shows and also countless small bars and venues. One of the single best bar experiences of my life came the night before I went to a Black Crowes and Blues Traveler show.
This Los Angeles joint on Pico Blvd. wasn’t 20 feet wide and super long, packed. I got bumped by this huge guy, turned out to be John Popper. I knew some guys in the band playing that night, we all, including Popper, sat in the back, I broke out the J’s and it was puff puff give around in circles...smoked everyone out.
Then, Popper went out with the band and rocked this little pub to the hilt. It was fukkin’ awesome.
I love the small, quaint venues. I love getting those stars in an intimate setting, you can be real and the music can get personal.
The next night they stuffed a big arena and that concert rocked too.
Good Stuff.
