Guy open limped UTG with A4o. I shove my 3 BB with 99. He calls and I lose. Been getting knocked out all week by inferior hands and plays with these inferior hands that make no good poker sense. I hope to run better in the future cause that should be straight money. It's just so frustrating when it happens repeatedly with no respite.

i still considering this tournaments as a regular freroll with extrimilly loose players and soft players, till some rules such as buy in starts, there is no way u will see good play.

you guys wanting to see a table full of quote "good play" make me lol. low hanging fruit. a good poker player should be able to climb to the top of a tree to get his fruit, but he may get battered in the process. the most successful ones identify the low hanging fruit at the bottom of the tree and go after it.

what happened?

i've simultaneously avoided him while at the same time laughing at myself for doing so.

i guess the thing that DOES seem legit in my head is how if sbr_john and john_morrison are in fact the same person, you really, really, really shouldn't be allowed to have separate poker accounts. that's different than ghosting for extra points. ESPECIALLY when you own the site, just brings up alllll kinds of questions.

i know sbr thinks it's all just nonsense, but the fastest way to crush any growth (and have we actually even seen any new players this past week?) is to introduce doubt in whether or not the game is fair.

morrison won a string of really ridiculous hands.

He was going all in again and again with offsuit rags. He usually went uncalled, but when called, his hand would somehow hit.

One was 56 vs. KK, knocking a player out. More of it happened later. Doc JS got eliminated with an absurd hand as well.

I folded some hands that almost certainly were better than what he had because I figured he'd hit them anyway.

I was waiting for a premium hand. Too bad someone else had better. Guy called the blind with AA. If he had aggressively raised, I probably would've played it differently.

Anyway, I should've played in the gear one instead, but I was out at the time.

70kgman raises pre-flop. I call (was like 3x bb). Flop comes two low cards and a king. I have AK. I go all in. He calls. Cards flip. He has QQ.

Queen on turn.

I played that tournament well, too.

The all in's aren't terrible depending on the blind size and his chip stack. Given that you're throwing away cards that are ahead of his range it's an even easier decision because of fold equity. Not to mention he's unlikely to be dominated when he is called so he has some equity which would be a more likely explanation for his winning than anything being rigged in his favor

Turns out the guy called a big raise with K8.

On two hands earlier, had A10 suited outkicked by AJ off, and had a 9 outkicked by a 10.

On an unbelievable cold streak.

that's why it takes a certain kind of person (mindset) to be a tournament pro. the swings are ridiculous.

Excellent article on leverage betting in tournaments is published in Full Tilt's poker pro guide. Probably one of the better poker books in my collection, as it delves into some deep strategy. Let me know if you want the cliff notes. -HE

Really sucks when have a paltry 25 points to rollover from a tourney cash and everyone sitting has 4x that or more. They gotta figure out how to let you add the amounts from different tourneys.

I have always been a strong tourney player and at one point, played in many of Full Tilt's Sunday tourneys (their million dollar tourney and their $200 +$40 KO tourney). I have won smaller 1000 plus player tournaments with smaller buy-ins and consider my best accomplishment of winning over 1k over 2 months playing single table sit'n'gos ($20 buy-in). I have found many of the principles in The Full Tilt Strategy Guide: Tournament Edition to be a cut above many of the poker concepts discussed in Super System 1&2, as well as other respectable books and some of my development can definitely be chalked up to a few of the concepts discussed in this book.

Out of all the chapters, Howard Lederer's "No Limit Hold 'Em: The Theory of Leverage," is by far the best contribution to the book. Essentially Lederer's chapter highlights the following points about leverage betting:

1) Leverage betting promotes smaller bets in relation to the size of the pot.

2) Leverage betting promotes aggressive style of play, without committing a lot of chips. Lots of smaller bets change the dynamic of play between you and your opponents and again, without having to commit a lot of chips.

3) Leverage betting needs to be adjusted to the stage of tournament play, the opponent and their chip stack, and other basic tournament principles, such as position, etc. For example, when small betting a small stack opponent with strong cards towards the mid to later stages, you can take advantage of that player's tournament mentality. By small betting strong cards, your opponent often is determining whether it is a good spot to try and double up. With these same cards and a regular or larger bet, your opponent will often fold hands that they might consider pushing when you make smaller, leverage bets.

4) leverage betting often picks up enough small pots to justify the few losses that will occur using this strategy.

5) There’s a lot more, but that’s really the heart of what the chapter explains.

I have also used leverage betting in ring games and have had some success, though it’s best suited for tournament play.

This is unreal. Online poker is mostly luck, and this month has carried the worst luck imaginable.

Wasn't able to play Friday-Sunday

still haven't gotten anything since 8/2.

Finished between 11th and 20th 7 times this month, out of 14 total times played in the points tournaments.
