#1201I would go with Starks. Once the Packers are up big, they use him as the closer, and he gets first downs. Plus, Grant missed practice yesterday, not that he gets any big number of carries. It is only a matter of time before Starks gets the starting job. Not sure why they still start Grant.Comment -

#1213Put 'em In The Game: Carson Palmer
Carson Palmer is definitely well rested and he has Housh for moral support. It's working. He's 1 yard shy of having back-to-back 300 yard games. This week he'll face a Vikings defense without Antoine Winfield and one that's giving up 294 yards/game and the 3rd most fantasy points to opposing QB's. Palmer should fare well this weekend.Put 'em In The Game: Jay Cutler
The offensive line for the Bears has gotten better over the past few weeks. Even when Cutler has held onto the ball too long or looked lost, the line has given him enough time to make something happen. He's found his new favorite receiver in Earl Bennett who has hauled in 11 catches for 176 yards and a score in the past two games. What Cutler can't get through the air (the Chargers allow a mere 213 yds), he'll make up for with short dump passes to Forte.
Put 'em In The Game: Reggie Bush
How weird is it to see Reggie Bush on the Start list? The resurgence of Bush is due to the lackluster performance and injury of Daniel Thomas. He'll face the Bills this week who allow 125 yards on the ground to opposing rushers. He's hot right now and you've got to ride that streak while you can. If you're looking for a solid flex play this week, Bush is your man. Just don't trade him for a pizza.
Put 'em In The Game: DeMarco Murray
Felix who? DeMarco Murray has become a bona-fide stud in Jones' absence racking up 672 yards rushing (a monster 6.8 yd/avg/carry), 2 scores, and 115 yards receiving. Even if Jones gets back into the mix, Murray has earned the right to be the main back. His performance forces defenses to stay honest and relieves some pressure off Romo. The Redskins are middle-of-the-pack against the run and the match-up certainly favors Murray.
Put 'em In The Game: Marshawn Lynch
Who rushes for more than 100 yards on the Ravens? Seriously. Last week, Lynch did just that. He had 135 yards against the Cowboys the previous week. This week he'll face the Rams who give up the 4th-most yards and 4th-most fantasy points per game to opposing RB's. Lynch will either have a monster game or he'll fall victim to the Law of Inverse Opportunity where he'll do terrible in a gimme match-up. We're giving him the benefit of the doubt on this one.
Put 'em In The Game: Jordy Nelson
Nobody has found an answer to Green Bay's passing game. It's too efficient, too polished, and too talented right now. Next to Greg Jennings, the best option in that offense has been Jordy Nelson. He's been fantastic when called upon and has delivered fantasy points in abundance the past three games. When Tampa Bay comes visiting Lambeau Field, their 28th-ranked pass defense should be no match for Rodgers and company.
Put 'em In The Game: Denarius Moore
Denarius Moore has become the new Housh for Carson Palmer. The go-to receiver has posted solid numbers as of late and was monstrous in Week 10's Thursday Night game. The Vikings give up the 4th-most fantasy points to opposing WR's and Moore is playing too well to even consider benching.
Put 'em In The Game: Kellen Winslow
Fantasy points can often accrue nicely during garbage time. For teams facing the Packers, they tend to have more garbage time than most. The Bucs will have difficulty moving the ball on the ground against Green Bay, but the Packers still give up the 5th-most fantasy points to opposing TE's and are vulnerable through the air. When the Bucs fall behind, they'll need to take to the air to try and catch up. Winslow has been a disappointment this season, but this match-up may be just what he needs.
Put 'em In The Game: Vernon Davis
Vernon Davis can be a stud. He has been in the past and he has the ability to be one again if they get him involved in the passing game. With Frank Gore injured, the 49er's have looked to Davis to help move the ball. With Kendall Hunter expected to carry most (if not all) of the rushing load, we expect Davis to be much more involved than he has in the past.
Put 'em In The Game: Billy Cundiff
On paper, a match-up against the Bengals doesn't look promising. To date, they're giving up the 5th fewest fantasy points to opposing kickers. The Ravens offense may struggle against Cincy's defense this weekend putting pressure on Cundiff to put points on the board. We'll call him our sleeper pick among kickers (if there is such a thing). He's the 6th-highest scoring fantasy kicker in the NFL this season - he'll put points on the board.
Put 'em On The Bench: Joe Flacco
Joe Flacco reminds us of Keanu Reeves' character Shane Falco from The Replacements, minus the hot cheerleader girlfriend and happy ending. He's been average (at best) for the last month+. The Bengals cough up the 7th-fewest fantasy points and the 11th-fewest yards per game through the air which doesn't bode well if Flacco is your starting QB (as he is with us while Brees is on bye). While he could surprise us, his average-streak should continue this week. Go Falco!
Put 'em On The Bench: Andy Dalton
Across the field from Joe Flacco will be rookie sensation Andy Dalton who can easily be in the discussion (along with Cam Newton) for Rookie of the Year honors. His numbers have been better than any of us anticipated, however the Ravens are ridiculously tough against the pass. In fact, they allow fewer fantasy points to opposing QB's than any other team.
Put 'em On The Bench: Cedric Benson
Cedric Benson is a tough nut to crack. Lending credibility to the Law of Inverse Opportunity, Benson should have had some big weeks this year only to disappoint when the match-up was favorable (think 57 yards against Indy). The Ravens allow the 6th-fewest fantasy points to opposing backs. Which Benson will show up against Baltimore's 2nd-ranked rush defense? Does it matter? The Ravens only allow an avg of 109 yards on the ground.
Put 'em On The Bench: Beanie Wells
What should you do when your fantasy RB has a bad knee and has to face the league's toughest rush defense? Yep - that's what we thought too. Beanie Wells will have to face the 49ers and their superior rush defense. Nobody gives up fewer yards or fantasy points to opposing RB's than San Francisco. Not exactly the type of situation that you want to be in.
Put 'em On The Bench: Dez Bryant
With Miles Austin still out, Bryant should be dominating the fantasy scene. Secondaries have been doubling him and keeping coverage over the top on him leaving guys like Laurent Robinson open to make big plays. Bryant will still see his targets, but this week, against a fantastic Washington defense, he'll likely struggle. He'll struggle because everyone has struggled. The Redskins give up the 3rd-fewest fantasy points to opposing WR's, and if past history is any indication, 4 catchesfor 63 yards (his Week 3 stats) may be the best we can hope for.
Put 'em On The Bench: Eric DeckerEric Decker and the Broncos face the Jets on Thursday Night Football this week and he has a direct flight to Revis Island. In what could end up being one of the worst passing performances of the season, Tebow and the new Denver offensive scheme won't take to the air the same way that most traditional teams do. That's not going to bode well for Decker. If he even sees a target, you can bet that Revis will see it too.
Put 'em On The Bench: Jermaine Gresham
Jermaine Gresham found the end zone last week in his return to action. This week he'll face a very tough Ravens D that has been absolutely brutal to fantasy tight ends this season giving up fewer points to them than any other team. There are much better options this week at the TE position.Put 'em On The Bench: Greg Olsen
Consistency hasn't been the hallmark of Greg Olsen this year. The Detroit Lions are very strong on defense giving up 6 fantasy points on average to opposing TE's. Olsen isn't a focal point in that offense, and with the match-up, he's tough to give the starting nod to.Comment -

#1214STUDS
Chris Clemons – DE, Seattle Seahawks (at STL): No team in the National Football League has surrendered more sacks than the St. Louis Rams, and that’s a rather pertinent stat when looking at pass rush matchups.
Darnell Dockett – DE, Arizona Cardinals (at SF): Dockett’s been quiet most of the season, but a top 10 fantasy matchup against a division rival that’s “sitting in his chair” should be enough to get Dockett rolling.
Justin Smith – DE. San Francisco 49ers (vs. ARI): Flip side of that coin is Smith, who gets an even better matchup on paper against an inexperienced quarterback that will have pressure in his face all day long.
Leroy Hill, WLB, Seattle Seahawks (at STL): The Rams are the third-best IDP matchup in the league for opposing linebackers, so the seventh-year veteran looks to be in line for a solid fantasy day.
Rey Maualuga – MLB, Cincinnati Bengals (at BAL): With a full week of practice under his belt Maualuga may be in for his best IDP day of the season this week at Baltimore, as the Ravens have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game to opposing linebackers.
Brian Urlacher – MLB, Chicago Bears (vs. SD): This isn’t to say that you wouldn’t usually start Urlacher, but he’s arguably the top IDP option available this week period in a tasty matchup with the Chargers.
Charlie Peprah – SS, Green Bay Packers (vs. TB): Peprah’s been the Packers DB to own over the past month plus and should do quite well against a Tampa Bay squad that has allowed the seventh most fantasy points per game to opposing defensive backs.
Kenny Phillips – SS, New York Giants (vs. PHI): Phillips has been a decent if unspectacular IDP option to this point in the season but has a juicy third-best fantasy matchup for his position on tap with the reeling Philadelphia Eagles.
Major Wright – SS, Chicago Bears (vs. SD): Philip Rivers is the Santa Claus of interceptions right now, so there’s a fair chance Wright will get to unwrap a present for the third straight week, assuming Lovie don’t hook ‘em halfway through the first for no real reason.
DUDS
Charles Johnson – DE, Carolina Panthers (at DET): The Panthers have, in their infinite wisdom, decided to now take their best defender off the field on the sets in which they run their cluster of a 3-4. Brilliant.
Jabaal Sheard – DE, Cleveland Browns (vs. JAX): Either’s he hit the rookie wall or realized he’s in Cleveland and just given up, but the rookie has been all but invisible in the box score the past three weeks.
Terrell Suggs – DE, Baltimore Ravens (vs. CIN): Suggs is an every-week starter in nearly every league, but keep in mind in this stretch run week that Cincy has allowed the 4th fewest sacks and is the stingiest fantasy matchup there is for DL.
Quincy Black – SLB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (at GB): The fifth-year pro’s flip from the strongside to the weakside lasted all of one game, so Black’s IDP prospects have once again faded to…
Daryl Washington – ILB. Arizona Cardinals (at SF): Washington’s quietly put together a top 25 IDP season at his position in his second year in the league, but the chips are stacked against him this week in an unfavorable fantasy matchup.
Kamerion Wimbley – OLB, Oakland Raiders (at MIN): Wimbley may have been one of the most added IDPs on many waiver wires this week, and he’s likely going to be just as big a disappointment when his stat line reverts against the Vikings. Don’t chase, kiddies.
Amari Spievey – SS, Detroit Lions (vs. CAR): The matchup’s solid and Spievey returned to practice Thursday, but toe injuries can linger, especially in games played on a fast track against grip-and-rip offenses.
Eric Weddle – FS, San Diego Chargers (at CHI): Weddle’s likely been the quietest Top 10 IDP DB this season, and I don’t expect a whole lot of noise against the Bears, who are 27th in fantasy points allowed to opposing defensive backs.
George Wilson – SS, Buffalo Bills (at MIA): Matchup’s great if he’s a go, but the “stinger” that Wilson suffered last week has kept him out of practice this week to this point, and should he not get back at it tomorrow it’s Plan B time.Comment -

#1223Kevin Smith, RB, DET - Smith popped a monster game against Carolina, rushing for a career-high 140 yards and 2 TDs. He also had 4 receptions for 61 yards and a TD. Granted it was against the porous run defense of the Panthers, but after that performance, it's hard to not see Detroit featuring Smith as their RB moving forward.
Chris Ogbonnaya, RB, CLE - While RBs Peyton Hillis (hammy) and Montario Hardesty (calf) are sidelined with injuries, Ogbonnaya is proving his worth to the Browns. He had another solid effort on Sunday, carrying the ball for 21 times to the tune of 115 yards and a TD. He also had 2 receptions for 19 yards. This week 11 effort followed a nice week 10 showing, where he rushed for 90 yards on 19 carries and once again had 2 receptions for 19 yards.
Joe McKnight, RB, NYJ - McKnight entered the game in relief of an injured Shonn Greene and posted 121 total yards of offense (59 rushing yards and 62 receiving yards). McKnight doesn't have the power of Green, but he is quicker and more explosive. It is unknown at this time what the status is of Green's rib injury or Tomlinson's knee injury, but in the least, McKnight should factor into the offense a little more after his play in week 11.
Michael Crabtree, WR, SF - Crabtree is starting to get healthy and is heating up. He finished the day on Sunday with 7 receptions for 120 yards on 10 targets. The Niners are flexing their playoff muscle, and Crabtree will be a key ingredient moving forward to help keep opposing defenses off balance.
Jerome Simpson, WR, CIN - With A.J. Green sidelined with an injury, Simpson torched the Ravens for 8 receptions and 153 receiving yards. He has a whopping 13 targets, and QB Andy Dalton was clearly locked on him early and often. Simpson has always had the talent, but he is now converting that talent into production on the field. Note in week 9 he had 10 targets, so he has slowly been getting the attention of his QB, even prior to the injury to Green.
Harry Douglas, WR, ATL - Star rookie WR Julio Jones has a history of injury issues in college, and he is picking up right where he left off in the NFL. This has opened the door just a little for the veteran Douglas, who has had 18 targets over the last two weeks. Douglas isn't going to be a long term solution for your team, but he is a player that can be plugged in the line-up to help reduce the bleeding if hurting at your WR slot.
Josh Freeman, QB, TAM - Freeman has been very up and down this season, but week 11 was a week where he was up. He toasted the Packers for 342 passing yards and 2 TDs. He has a decent schedule moving forward, and the Bucs will need him down the stretch.
Vince Young, QB, PHI - The injuries are starting to catch-up with Michael Vick, who rode the pine on Sunday while Young was given the starting nod. Young finished the day with 258 passing yards, 2 TDs, 3 INTs, and just 5 rushing yards. It wasn't a great game, but not a bad performance either considering it was Young's first real action all season. There will be an adjustment factor as the rust slowly comes off and he adjusts to the speed of a real-time NFL game. Moving forward, if you own Vick, better handcuff Young as an insurance policy. If you don't own Vick but are an opportunistic vulture, just bringing the situation to your attention so you can monitor it closelyComment -

#1224TOYOTA TUNDRA – PICKUPS OF THE WEEK
This week, Yahoo! Sports fantasy expert Brad Evans looks at nine intriguing fantasy football players, and a defense, likely to be available on the waiver wire in fantasy leagues.
Vince Young
Solid Buy (12-teams plus) Rough-edged but effective in return as starter
Vince Young(notes) (QB) Philadelphia Eagles
Rust was visible on the quarterback in his first start in nearly a year. Misreads, under-thrown passes and picks negatively impacted his line over three quarters. However, in Tim Tebow(notes) fashion, Young turned it on in the fourth, orchestrating a long, back-breaking scoring drive that proved to be the game-winner. In total he went 23-for-36 with 258 yards, two touchdowns and three picks, a respectable performance considering the circumstances. Andy Reid remains optimistic that Michael Vick(notes) could return this week against New England, but it's far from guaranteed. Young's serviceability buys the organization time. If VY does get the start, he's a top-12 play against New England's giving secondary. No unit has surrendered more passing yards or 20-plus yard pass plays than the Pats. For Matt Schaub(notes), Matt Cassel(notes) and Jay Cutler(notes) owners still sobbing over the loss of their QB, Young could turn your frown upside down.

Kevin Smith
Strong Buy (10-teams plus PPR)Resurrected Smith the cure-all for Lions' running ills
Kevin Smith(notes) (RB) Detroit Lions
In arguably the greatest out-of-nowhere performance in recent times, "The Director" delivered a comeback story worthy of the silver screen. Just weeks removed from eating Ben and Jerry's on Sundays on his couch, Smith churned out 201 total yards and three touchdowns against Carolina. Granted the Panthers are dreadfully bad against the run, but the 24-year-old showcased excellent burst, versatility and strength between-the-tackles, skills previously lacking in the Jahvid Best(notes)-less Lions backfield. With Best's return still unknown, Smith should overtake Maurice Morris(notes) for first-team touches moving forward. This week in a huge Turkey Day tussle with Green Bay, he should be considered sound RB2 material in 12-teamers. The Packers, pounded by LeGarrette Blount(notes) in Lambeau on Sunday, have allowed 5.5 yards per carry to RBs over the past five weeks. Assuming Smith records another 15-20 carries, he's a solid bet for 80-plus total yards and a score. Future matchups with New Orleans, Oakland and San Diego are also very attractive. Break the bank.

Montario Hardesty
Moderate Buy (12-teams plus) Former top dog in Cleveland on the brink of returning
Montario Hardesty(notes) (RB) Cleveland Browns
Out for the past few weeks with a torn calf, Hardesty returned to a limited practice last week, but was a late inactive versus Jacksonville. If he puts in quality practice time this week, it's very likely he'll be in uniform for the Battle of Ohio. When healthy, Hardesty has played decently. Toting the full-load in Week 7, he notched 127 total yards against Seattle, the fifth-unfriendliest run defense in fantasy. Chris Ogbonnaya(notes), who has registered consecutive 100-total yard games, will continue to be featured in some capacity but, assuming Hardesty isn't eased back into action, he should be the primary carrier over the foreseeable future. Peyton Hillis(notes), slowly recovering from his latest hamstring setback, has no timetable for his return. Cleveland's remaining schedule is daunting (at Cin, Bal, at Pit, at Ari, at Bal), but Hardesty could provide useful deep-league flex numbers in an expanded role. Throw him a bone.

Strong Buy (12-teams plus) Third-stringer might be best back currently on NYJ roster
Joe McKnight(notes) (RB) New York Jets
Pressed into action last week in Denver when oft-nicked Shonn Greene(notes) exited stage left with bruised ribs, the former USC standout played admirably as the workhorse, totaling 121 yards on 22 touches. McKnight isn't the strongest of interior runners but, like LaDainian Tomlinson(notes), he's a dangerous asset in the vertical game. Greene is likely to return this week versus the suddenly hapless Bills, but LT's availability remains sketchy. If the future HOFer continues to nurse his injured knee, McKnight would be a fantastic plug n' play option in deeper formats, especially those that score generously for receptions. Running backs are performing 16.6 percent above the league average against the Bills this year. And Buffalo has yielded the eighth-most receptions to RBs this year. Purchase a ticket.

Toby Gerhart
Strong Buy (12-teams plus) Adrian Peterson's wrenched ankle elevates backup into catbird seat
Toby Gerhart(notes) (RB) Minnesota Vikings
Watching your most prized possession's ankle bend awkwardly is an event every owner fears. Unfortunately for consensus top-five pick Peterson, that nightmare became a reality. The Purple Hey-Zeus suffered a Grade 1 high ankle sprain in Sunday's loss to Oakland, an injury that typically sidelines backs for multiple weeks (See Jones, Felix). Now it's Gerhart's time to shine. The former Stanford standout doesn't have the explosiveness of AD, but his between-the-tackles brawn and versatility is nothing to scoff at. In limited work this season he's averaged a potent 4.9 yards per carry. Still, despite his powerful build and expanded workload, he's only a flex option in 12-teamers this week. The Vikes travel to Atlanta to face a Falcons defense that has allowed just 3.6 yards per carry to RBs this year. However, with a fairly favorable playoff schedule (at Det, NO, at Wash), Gerhart is worth a grab. If Peterson doesn't heal quickly, the backup could bear RB2 fruits during the most critical juncture of the season.

Donald Brown
Solid Buy (12-teams plus) Brown only bright spot on laughable Colts
Donald Brown(notes) (RB) Indianapolis Colts
For a team on the fast-track to regaining its "Luck," most would deem its commodities worthless. Though not entirely true, Brown does deserve some consideration in resource-strapped leagues. Joseph Addai's(notes) availability for Week 12 remains uncertain due to a hamstring injury and Delone Carter(notes), beleaguered by a nasty case of fumbilitis, is still penned up in the doghouse. Brown, once a highly coveted sleeper in fantasy circles, truly is the last man standing. Given an expanded load over Indy's past three games, he performed serviceably, averaging 56.7 total yards on 15.3 touches per game. He's also splashed the invisible pool once. Obviously, Brown is nothing special, particularly on a team routinely blown out. But after the Colts' bye in Week 11, he faces a Carolina defense that's surrendered a mind-blowing 5.1 yards per carry, 181.4 total yards per game and 16 touchdowns on the year, equal to the most fantasy points allowed to RBs. Owners scratching and clawing for a playoff berth might want to stash the rental. Assuming he nets the start, he could tally handsome flex totals.

Andre Caldwell
Moderate Buy (12-teams plus) Joe Haden(notes) Effect could lead Caldwell to quality numbers in consecutive weeks
Andre Caldwell(notes) (WR) Cincinnati Bengals
Jerome Simpson(notes) and Caldwell each posted surprising numbers last week against a Baltimore Ravens defense that, up until Week 11, had conceded just four double-digit fantasy point performances on the year. The absence of A.J. Green(notes) combined with a sizable deficit forced Andy Dalton(notes) skyward, creating an unexpected shootout between the ball-control teams. Green will likely return to action this week, but Caldwell is still worth a flier in deeper formats. Over the past three weeks, he's been targeted a healthy 8.7 times per game, scoring in two of those contests. His yardage numbers won't exactly move the meter, but with Haden likely draping Green he is a strong candidate for a 4-50-1 line. Owners desperate for a WR3 should give him an audition.

Titus Young
Moderate Buy (12-teams plus) Rookie could be tastier than pumpkin pie on Turkey Day
Titus Young(notes) (WR) Detroit Lions
Even remotely plugged-in owners are aware that Green Bay's defense is incredibly generous to the opposition's pass attack. On the year, 10 wideouts have reached double-digit fantasy points against the Pack. And, overall, the Cheeseheads have surrendered the second-most fantasy points to WRs. Young has only been useful in spurts, eclipsing the 70-yard mark just twice in 10 games. However, the odds this week's holiday clash turns into a shootout are strong, making any Lion, or Packer for that matter, a reliable play. With Calvin Johnson(notes) drawing so much attention, the rookie could burn Charles Woodson(notes) and friends deep on more than one occasion. Deep thinkers looking for a WR3 should pluck the tasty morsel off waivers. Young, who's scored in two of his last three games, could deliver juicy numbers on Turkey Day.

Jake Locker
Moderate Buy (12-teams plus) Week 12 QB Plug n' Play
Jake Locker(notes) Tennessee Titans
Matt Hasselbeck(notes), who suffered a sprained right elbow in Sunday's loss at Atlanta, is unsure about his availabilty in Week 12. Mike Munchak emphasized that if the Bald Eagle is healthy, there is "no doubt" he will play. Obviously it's a situation to monitor, but for those in two-QB leagues, Locker is a commodity to grab now. Whoever oversees the Titans offense should post stellar numbers. Tennessee is gifted a home matchup against the seventh-worst pass defense in the league, Tampa Bay. On the year, the Bucs have allowed 8.5 yards per attempt and six multi-TD passers in 10 games. Though his 47.4 completion percentage was nothing to write home about, the Washington product impressed Sunday in relief of Hasselbeck, throwing for 140 yards and two touchdowns. Strong-armed and mobile, he, like Minnesota's Christian Ponder(notes), is a dual-threat capable of churning out sneaky good numbers. If Hasselbeck sits, consider the rookie a borderline top-15 play in what would be his starting debut.

Seattle Seahawks
Solid Buy (all leagues) Week 12 DEF Plug n' Play
Seattle Seahawks Defense/Special Teams
Arguably one of the league's most underrated defenses, the 'Hawks have executed well, particularly in the trenches. Matched against an abysmal Washington offense that has scored just 44 points in its past four games (11.0 ppg), the 12th Man could have a great deal to shout about in Week 12. Seattle is somewhat vulnerable through the air, but the Redskins' woeful run game should help shift focus on turnover prone Rex Grossman(notes). Brandon Browner(notes) and rookie Richard Sherman(notes), who's played surprisingly well since entering the starting lineup, could feast on a wounded Grossman duck or three. Defensive end Chris Clemons, who leads the team with eight sacks, may also wreak havoc on the pocket. Skins QBs have been sacked 3.1 times per game this year. Raise the flag.

#1225I need 2 - Ryan Mathews vs Den, Mendenhall @ KC, J Stewart @ Ind, M Bush vs Chi. Right now I'm leaning towards Mendenhall and Stewart/Mathews. Even if DMC is out I don't trust Bush vs Chi (and not bc I live in Chi, but bc the Bears D just shut down Mathews for me last week and every other RB). Thoughts?Comment
