At some point people need to stop giving Reagan credit for everything that happened during the Clinton administration and blaming Carter for the stagflation that was going on well before he got in.
The Bush years were an absolute fukking catastrophe. His pointless war in Iraq alone set us back about a decade.

True. But it's never going to happen. I used to be a lobbyist. They are like flies on shit. You can't get rid of the flies without first getting rid of the shit. And in this case, the "shit" is the massive tangled mess of bureaucratic idiocy that can only be navigated by those who have the time and inclination to deal with it, IE: paid professionals, IE: lobbyists.
Lobbyists exist because the average citizen is too damn busy, uniformed, or lacking in the requisite education to understand the current complications in how the system actually works and how to get what one wants. So they hire lobbyists to do if for them. The problem is that rich people/companies will always have the ability to hire more lobbyists than anyone else. And they do. And they get what they want before anybody else gets anything.
Thus the only way to get rid of lobbyists and the advantages rich people/companies have is to minimize the control/influence of the government. But you can't do that without reducing government services. And you can't do that because too many Americans are scared pussies afraid of having to make their own breaks in life.No more of that talk, or I'll put the leeches on you.Comment -
lobbyists exist to bribe/extort politicians.
make donations illegal, cap campaign spending to an absolute MINIMUM (1 or 2 million) and fund it with public money. set up a well funded task force to investigate corruption. ban politicians working in the private sector for 8 years after holding office, instead give them an average job in the government. stop the corruption because it stinks up the joint.
then we will see a new breed of politician, 1 that is serving the country NOT just serving themselves.Comment -
