Big Z, in my opinion was never an ace. He always had a high WHIP, and strike outs really saved him. Combine that with his emotional problems, you are not going to be an effective pitcher.

He actually didn't pitch that poorly today before coming out with a cramp. 3 runs in 6 innings plus a double at the plate. What hurt is the rest of the Cubs anemic offense.

I wouldn't consider a high 3 ERA, an Ace pitcher in the NL. He is a serviceable guy, in a perfect world a number 3 pitcher at best. If he is the Ace of your staff, your pitching is going to struggle. He averages around 6 innings per outting. c.lee has almost 1.5 innings better.
