But you would think if he was a real man after he won 20K points playing poker he would have the courtesy to contact these lenders and pay them back. I don't think anyone is giving him any loans since he went on the stiff list.Comment -

#38No just loan points to the people you trust they will pay you back. When you are in the loan business you just don't give out loans left and right. Maybe start someone with small loans and if the pay back increase their loans with a calculated risk. But I'm not in the loan business and never loaned anyone points or took a loan myself. I just manage the points SBR gives me and make sure I don't put myself in a position to stiff or get stiffed.Comment -

#39It looks like the loans he stiffed were about 4 months ago during the football season and before poker came around. I guess the lenders wrote the loans off because he told them he is not paying them off period.

#40I was really shocked reading in this thread. I don't get involved too much in the point loaning stuff and I certainly understand SBR reluctance to try and police this, but several things could be put in place to help:
1) you can't play in any poker tournaments til the loans are repaid
2) you can't purchase from the store until the loans are repaid
3) you can't attend a bash if you are a stiff
These things at a minimum would be easy to enforce and I think go along way to keep the stiff's at a minimumComment -

However, when considering the well documented basic premise of lender beware, it is hard to feel bad for the second, third, fourth, etc lender. Before you make the loan you check the points history, you see the borrower has a loan outstanding and if you agree to lend more points you have to realize your risk is increasing. So I have more sympathy for the first lender by far than the others.Comment -

#46Another thread about your welfare problems. SBR will end up being a pure slum at the end of this mess. The points system will end and they will see what they have. Run off all the real Pro's for a bunch of chumps that find there manhood in proving they have $200 in a book, what a joke. Sounds kinda like how a good neighborhood lowers the rent and becomes the "Hood", pure stupidComment -

#48Your pent-up anger would magically go away if you sent a mere $200 to a sponsor. There are 1600+ Pro's and a record amount of applications yesterday. The Pro's are being handsomely rewarded, as it should be. They pay the bills. You can choose to be rewarded too or be regulated to complaining about it. Hopefully you will join your 1600 buds.Comment -

#49That makes a lot of sense to you and none to me. My regular book knows me by voice. When I call they say you haven't dealt with us in a while if it's been a month because I have been using them for over 6 years that's what I call a Pro. I was a Pro before you came up with this system. I can't knock your hustle though.Comment -

For someone who disagrees with the point system so much, you sure care about the points a lot. I mean, you totally show how dishonest you are by stiffing...
Also, I'm sure your book loves you, looking at how you lose your 6 points every day in the book/casino. You've probably paid enough of their salaries that of course they know you by name. "Looks like TheGreat30 just paid for dinner again, boys!"
John, could you do us all a favor and ban this guy? Thanks!

It doesn't make financial sense to NOT be a Pro here.
Let me explain. You throw 200 bucks into an account. Tell SBR and you become a Pro.
Now---you don't have to wager that 200 bucks, just let it sit there.
Now---sign into SBR daily---and make one post. At the end of the year, you have 4380 points. And, if you have been here for a few years---another couple hundred points.
At the end of said year, redeem your points for Sportsbook Cash.
It cost you NOTHING. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
Only an amateur lets that kind of cash on the table.Comment -

#57That's the major problem I have. At one point this site was about handicapping and sharing information. Now it's all about points and cash. SBR does not share any worthy info at this point, books that don't pay or slow pay get far less attention than points and cash. This is not a review site anymore, but it has not been in quite some time. Considering that most of the things they do around here are directly targeted at the US customers this is a borderline illegal operation that they run, sounds a lot like the books, that's the problem, they have done everything they can to become just like the books. Finally, I am glad that I started coming in this forum about 28 months ago because I would have never known what this really is, which is definitely not sportsbookreviewing.

You say it shouldn't be about the points but thats what your complaining about the most. If the points shouldn't matter, make threads on the books you want reviews on. Speaking of that, you said you have been with one book for 6 years. They know you by the sound of your voice. You say this is part of the reason you don't want another book to become pro. If you have such a great book that you don't want any others then why do you even need reviews?
I really don't see why your so upset about all of this.

#63its interesting that betphoenix is no longer a part of the SBR store. scammers and stiffs who trick ppl into "lending" pts made this happen. if he paid back the posters he owed with the 10,000+ points he recieved from poker then it would be $750 less BP freeplays he ordered. what a loserComment -

I have been told that I can't have my Private Messages back until I am debt free. So isn't this policing the points lending industry?
I also was told by a moderator, that my pts borrowing got out of hand. So much for not SBR overseeing or controlling the points industry.
