I've often wondered why this wall is so low. Even a drunk adult could fall over easily if they got too close.

I hope they put some sort of screen up.

Edit: looks like they did have a barrier up. The family was taking pictures and the boy climbed over the barrier.

That's horrible, I do blame the parents if he was taking a picture. Keep an arm or a hand on your kid and don't let him climb. That said, the Heat and Nuggets also have areas where you can see this story happening.

I've been to many stadiums around the country (Football, baseball and basketball) and most of them have seats where people could easily commit suicide and/or have serious falls. Some seats are almost over the field of play and a simple push and anyone can fall 20-30 feet down stairs or a ledge.

Stadiums are awful places for people contemplating suicide, especially if they just had a horrible losing day.

The parents were supposedly right there. They had just taken pictures and were looking at the pictures when the little boy climbed over the barrier and fell.

i read that on yahoo the day after it happened. tragedy for sure. and looking from where he fell from, it was quite the fall. someone's at fault for not watching that kid. idiots

Yea, there is something to be said for being a bit paranoid with your kids. Me personally, I would not have even considered seats near the rail and would hold my kids hands when walking by, but that's me.

If this did happen let's see if the Staples center takes some kind of action to prevent this from happening in the future. Maybe some type of low key safety net, like suicide prevention nets used on bridges?

ive been drunk as f\*\*k at the staples center in a vip box and i tried to climb from the top row of stadium chairs down to the lowest row and i slipped and tumbled down to the glass partition. lucky it wasn't me, i was so fvcken drunk i didn't know what happened
