Very sorry for your loss. As someone who has lost both parents, it remains a life long grieving process. My dad died when I was young, but I took care of my mom for several years before she died. I've become very spiritual and I feel like they look out for me and guide me when times are tough. I hope you were able to tell your dad how much you loved him on a regular basis, I know I told my mom every day and nothing went unsaid at the end. I hope everyone here who still has parents will be proud of the love for them and express it to them regularly.

I am sorry for your loss. I have not been in your shoes yet losing somebody as important as a father. I can only imagine your world will be upside down being such a tragic and unexpected loss. I have always heard that grief is the strongest emotion but fortunately it does not last long. Do not worry about being a tough man and instead grief your father until you find some peace in your life again. Nothing will probably feel right or as good for quite some time. I hope you have somebody close with you to help ease your emotions moving forward. Bless you!

nobody knows when its our time...doctors can tell you anything and everything...but nobody truly knows
you can get check ups and such...
but if its your time...
no words can help but rest assure knowing that he is feeling no pain at all and now resides in a much better place than where we are

Wow thanks guys. This huge support is amazing!
Today was hard. We did all the arrangements, plot, funeral, everything. My dad was so well known we are expecting 1k people at the visitation, this things going to be huge.
And WTF is up with these prices? U have to be rich to die and have a nice farewell. The plot was 8k (mom got a double plot), the funeral dudes 6k, the coffin like 3k. Then we are doing a lunchin after the funeral, that's another 1k.
But he's worth every penny

My condolences to you and your family IWIN. Hopefully we all use this as a reminder of how special are parents are and remind them frequently. My Mom was in the hospital for about a week earlier this year. It was the first time I really ever thought about possibly losing a parent. Just remember he is in a better place.

Makes no sense either, no prior medical, not overweight. 65 yrs old, always working around the house, picking up the leafs, ect. Wonder what the autopsy will say.
Don't take family for granted guys.....they can disappear at the snap of a finger
Crazy, my dad went in for tests this weekend and they kept him because of some irregular results- they thought he was at risk for a heart attack. Luckily, everything turned out fine. What you mentioned about "That man had done more me for me in my life then anyone could imagine" was all I could think about. He is only 50 and I am still in college, so I was really hoping everything was alright. Definitely a wake up call, though. I let him know how much he means to me and our entire family.
Sorry for your loss, I can only imagine what you are going through. God bless you and your family.
