I am from Miami, and I was at the game last night, and I was disappointed at the amount of empty seats.

Although, it was packed midway through the 1st quarter, everybody in Miami is on Cuban time. They arrive late, and leave early. People started leaving with a minute left and the Heat up by 7. I can't imagine their faces when they got home and turned on ESPN and found out they lost an OT heartbreaker.

I'll be the first to say Miami has awful fans. I guess it's because there is so much other fun stuff to do down here, unlike those other boring small towns that were previously mentioned.

On another note, I paid 13.50 for a Heiniken yesterday at the game. That could be a reason as well. I could sit on my couch and get a 12 pack for that.

Miami fans are always a disappointment. They won't back their teams unless they are winning. Saw so many UM flags and fans earlier in the season, haven't seen that many supporters after the FSU game and its declining. Don't expect to see that many Heat fans unless the team is on a winning streak.

they're just crappy sports fans and everyone there is a transplant, so they sit at home and watch their home team on the TV.

Heat will never see a finals appearance with that team

Bulls are pretty good now without Boozer. You add Boozer and James at the 2 and the Bulls would be almost completely unstoppable.

If the Heat make it to the finals, that means they would have to take out Boston. And if Miami takes out Boston, the Lakers will NOT destroy them. It's arguably if the Lakers would even beat them..

As for the thread, Miami is a football city first and foremost. And there are also many other factors as why the seats are empty. The economy is a huge one......

For the price of a lower level seat at a heat game, i could fly to minneapolis and sit courtside at a wolves game and probably save a couple dollars

I like how no one responded to my post while some still posted about how Florida sucks because their residents don't pay hundreds of dollars for sports as much as other regions do. The economy was mentioned, the number of professional teams were mentioned. I'm going to add the high ratio of retirees, and emphasize that no one's obligated to pay hundreds of dollars to see grownups play a child's game.

I hear ballet dancers don't make a lot of money. Are you guys shitty fans for not buying more ballet tickets? Sports interest in Florida is probably low, and there's nothing wrong with that. Fault more lies with team ownership who decided to have or keep their organization where they are.

The Heat got elite players at a sharp discount from market value, and a few others at a discount too.

A lot of the lower level seats were bought up at a huge premium by corporate sponsors with long term commitments right after the signings. Many of these seats will be empty or be filled by corporations working on business deals and showing up late and leaving early. As far as seats being available for games, I live just north of Miami and didn't expect there to be any seats available, therefore I didn't even consider buying tickets. The biggest sports radio station in the area just inked a deal for exclusive rights to the Heat, so it might have an impact on future ticket sales. Ticket and parking prices are also going to be a huge factor. I have heard rumors of $40-$50 parking for the lots around the stadium. You get too far from the stadium (Overtown) and you are in a pretty rough area where I wouldn't dare leave my car. I would imagine the market will adjust. The prices will go down and the seats will start to fill up. If the overall prices do not drop, then I will continue to watch the games from the comfort of my home.

but you're talking closer to $75 including parking not including beer & nachos

probably close to $100 by the time you get home

I am a NY Knicks fan living in South, FL Even when the Magic were in town there were 3-4k empty seats, this is what happens when you raise the ticket prices 3 and 4 fold, they will tell you they were sold, but when the seats are empty that is hundreds of thousands in lost revenue.

any easy public transportation to the Heat game?

that's the nice thing about the United Center in Chicago, there's a bus stop right outside the station, it's really easy to get to if you live in the city.

you can bet your mortgage 2 players are regretting badly now..

1- Lebron going to MIAMI. if he can turn back the clock, you just know he'd stay in cleveland. especially with this horrid start for MIA.. he made a big mistake.

2- Brett Favre would not have come back for another year. he is saying he should have walked at the right time. his team won't make the playoffs now.. he is having a bad year.. and the affair with the girl and all seeing his cock. he wishes he would have just hung it up. now it's too late. he got greedy. He would have walked out a bigger legend had he not come back..

Miami has so many activities that going to a basketball game is probably down on the list of fun things to do.
