Does anyone know about wirless internet cards?
I would like to have portable internet on my laptop. Does anyone know about these cards or chips or whatever you want to call them, so you install them and don't have to worry about internet connection anywhere? You simply turn on your computer and have internets in 99% of places. Any information anyone could give me on this would be appreciated.

    Best of Luck.

          Am not familiar with "tethering"....

So if you have a droid you can connect it to your laptop anywhere and have internet access anywhere on your laptop?

well it depends...if you use your phone for your internet connection then the connection wont be nearly as fast as one of the network cards. but i believe you need to pay monthly for the cards? ive used my phone to connect to my comp for internet and it wasnt nearly as fast.

You need a wireless router most use a linksys brand and you need Notebook adaptor you can get a USB adaptor or one that plugs into PCMCIA port on side of laptop. Most newer laptops have built in adaptors though so you want to check that

Actually your best bet is to totally forget about a wireless card and get yourself an android phone or iphone, whatever you want; tether away and enjoy internet on your PC.

Iphones and Droids are too small, I need internets on a big screen I can access anywhere.

I have both an iphone and a verizon wireless card for my laptop. A lot of the times the phone companies will charge you extra for tethering. The wireless cards is pretty kick ass. Really just depends on what you are needing to do.

Wireless Cards are provided by Verizon, AT&T, etc.

Most of them have contracts tho, and they are not unlimited usuage.

The card itself is free. I pay like $40 a month and it works good. Works anywhere you get cell service. There are 2 or 3 plans with each having certain limits on how much bandwidth you can use per month. I have the lowest one and I have never come close to using it all.

I have had a wireless card for over a year now. I would say it depends what you want to use the Internet for. If you are going to want to watch videos, listen to music, etc. as some have said - the card comes with usage limits and videos and such eat up usage quick. If you just need it to access e-mail and gamble, it works great. frizzelli likes ass play.

Does anyone know about these cards or chips or whatever you want to call them, so you install them and don't have to worry about internet connection anywhere? You simply turn on your computer and have internets in 99% of places. Any information anyone could give me on this would be appreciated.

Basically they work just the internet access on your phone - the card allows you to access the network of where ever you purchased your card/plan from.

Like many have said, the cost is usually almost as much as you would pay for a phone and plan, so tethering (connecting to the internet on your comp via your phone) makes alot more sense, especially if you have any form of internet access on your phone already.

I was "grand-fathered" in so I didn't have a data usage cap, now they cap your shit.

Now nearly as fast as wireless, but a heck of a lot faster than dial up.

Verizon will charge you about $70 a month for service.
