Create a 'Fed Chairman' for points who would rule on all loans, manage credit reports, and make the credit reports available to point lenders. The role can also be expanded to monitor the point value for free plays, etc for SBR.

OK:
- Brand Willie Bee's ass with the SBR logo; and we need a video of same.
- Pay JJ more money, he really keeps PT going & give him a pot of SBR points to dole out to posters who write good posts in PT.

- Consider real time sports betting, it will be hard to implement, but you will suck in lots of traffic when word gets around.
- Expect a lot of cheating in Poker - sic Willie Bee on the cheaters; have Willie brand each cheater under his Avatar so we all know who these clowns are.
- for us db builders, have a downloadable score/line/etc section; there is probably a copyright problem here, but maybe?
- an injury section that has all injuries for that day in a sport in one place
- a halftime line section is really needed, downloadable for the past year would be cool.
- An SBR survivor contest would be cool, but the contestants must do more than post/win picks: post videos, write poetry, ditties, & short articles / cleaver stories. Posters vote on who to toss off the island.

1) The record of line movements in SBR Odds is no longer displaying the time-stamp, and I'd like to see it returned. It makes the line data much more valuable.

2) Downloadable packets of historical spreads & totals both for full games and first half lines would be a HUGE addition.

1. clean up the sportsbook master list. so many of these books are owned by other books or no longer in business.

2. create a liquidity rating for each book.

3. on the sportsbook master list, a description of the unusual items that the book offers.

4. a sportsbook list that groups them by ownership

5. a weekly spotlight on a book. this is the site, this is the ownership, this is how liquid the book is, these are the things that the book offers that are unusual, this is how you can test it, this is how you can fund it, this is what the industry generally thinks of it, this is when the lines go up, this is what they will do if you win, etc.

SBR on ESPN.... I know alot of people have already said this, but the #1 priority should be POKER POKER POKER.. I think by doing this the right way the site could double the size of traffic, members, ect...
The whole points thing would work perfectly with poker. I find it a bit boring sometimes after all the games are over and i have gone through the threads and lost a few points in the very fair casino. The bottom line is that poker will bring so many more people to the site and keep more people active here longer, filling in all the gaps between the games.
Collect rake 24/7. Add a whole bunch more sponsers. Work some very good sign up deals with all the major poker sites ect.. ect...
The SBR on ESPN thing will follow

I know this is much easier said then done, but this would have to be one of the best business decisions for SBR.

The downloadable score/line/etc section COULD BE AVAILABLE with the new version of sbr odds via XML feeds. One of the big things we're working on is making all the data available in archives for previous years. I'M NOT SURE how much of this information will be accessible in XML feeds for downloads. The same goes for the halftime line section.

This is on the calender for late August. This Chairman needs to be approved by the posters and a lot of regulars are out until the SBR Bash/football.

Here are my thoughts. Before we talk about specifics we must first identify our objective. Do you want to continue to focus and cater to an audience that is predicated almost exclusively on sports gambling. Now anyone who has visited the Players Talk Forum can witness for themselves that this forum takes on a life of it's own and the topics are not relegated exclusively to sports gambling but are an amalgalm of indivudal interests, tastes, opinions and even personalities. Poker room - but only if it's done well. You are wise if you thoroughly beta test this and spare yourself the slings and arrows of what will no doubt be an audience just licking their chops to do what they collectively do best and that is to bitch and moan.

Fantasy Sports - No doubt there are the old bastards who will poo poo this idea but it's a young man's world and fantasy sports is simply part of their experience. I believe you could model your program after CBSsports or ESPN and command a competitive service charge to minimize the costs or God forbid, make a few bucks. You will also attract a new audience with appetites for horizontally integrated goods and services like sports gear, paraphanelia and even tickets to sporting events.

Handicapper Picks of the Day - I say "hire" 3 respected posters or perhaps engage Justin and 2 posters to either review established, legitimate handicapping services and their plays or they could volunteer their own plays. This would eliminate the need to comb through the littany of service plays where some are legit and others are not. You could post their record and post their plays daily and could even add a podcast to explain why they chose the teams they chose for that day. As it stands there are just too mnay service playes to wade through.

SBR Talk Show - Live where the callers could call in and talk sports and even talk about the Players Talk Forum. I would shy away from the stilted talk of Winning Wednesdays and make it a lot more loose. Then you could archive each show if posters missed it live and wanted to hear it later on.

Finally, if you wanted to horizontally integrate, you could offer SBR members discounts on concert tickets, tickets to sporting events, sports gear, etc.... as you establish relationships with individual sites and vendors.

That's all for now kids. I'm sure I could come up with more but nobody is reading this far anyway.

These are really great ideas. Thank you SJ for taking the time to write them up. Very creative, I love the fantasy concept. And I reallllly love the Talk Show idea. (Lou, pull up a chair with Shaq and see how he feels about a live call in talk show).

Your last idea will need to wait until we have sufficient critical mass to support the internal organization we would need to organize to create those vendor relationships and to move enough merchandise to make it worthwhile for SBR and vendors alike.

I will talk to Bill about #1. We like to leave the book and the link there of these books that went out of business because many actually resurface under the same name.

agree whole heartedly with profit in that sbr shouldnt have an official role with point loaning

add a very open rep system to sbr. lets say you have a rep bar under your join date/post count/points count.
you click it and youre able to see the repped post, a side comment, and who repped that post.
this way a person with absurdly negative rep will be red flag to anyone willing to lend points to the person
posters with a high reputation should receive priority on things like air flight reimbursement, dibs on prizes, etc

Good idea kind of like a credit rating. As I mentioned this will be tackled later in the summer when all the regulars get back and can have their say and a Fed Chairman type can be elected by the posters.

How about an SBR sub forum titled: "Bulletin Board" or something like. That way we could get rid of those "Does somebody want to play video games with me tonight" threads or "Hey SO and SO Call me about this weekend". These are messages between two people usually...and do NOTHING but clutter up the forum. I can find several examples on today's board alone. "Hey do you live in Sacramento?...I'm going to be there this weekend etc etc. Who cares.Put it on Craigs list but not here.

Just a thought.

I know alot people on this forum have said they use these for handicapping... I have always used these for years just don't like the site that they come from, but they are a useful tool for the on the go handicapper! They also are found in some casinos in Vegas... Think of the possibilities of new posters joining SBR when they find one of these made by SBR on a table in the sportsbook in a Vegas casino.

If SBR could come up with something like this it would be a great addition.
