Perhaps it's because everyone knows his arm is falling off. He's closing in on 100 innings MORE this year than his career high of 156. They could shut him down, but it wouldn't matter as he's not getting another start this season anyway.

He was telegraphing his pitches or Mets stole the signs. Yankees used to have a high powered camera looking at catcher's fingers and transmitting the plays to manager. That's why you see the manager grabbing his balls, pulling his ear lobs and itching his elbows before every pitch.

His velocity was clearly down last start, lowest since April. He was throwing 93/94 instead of 96/97. It was noticeable. He still has secondary pitches to adjust and be decent, but clearly he had a tired arm. Whether he can regain or adjust, maybe, but the innings are taking a toll at the wrong time.
