              I did too.
It was the best up-the-middle defense I have ever seen.
Trammell, Whitaker, Parrish all won gold in '84, Lemon should have as well, but he was edged out by Murphy, I believe.
That defense saved Dan Petry, Jack Morris, and the rest a ton of runs.
Lemon was a good guy from all accounts. I never met him, I was too young, but you could tell he was a good guy.

You were not even 10 years old at the time but you can confidently say that? I remember little about the '84 Padres team and I believe I am older than you...

Dale Murphy? Murphy played in the NL...

I think he meant Dwayne Murphy. Oakland A's

He won a bunch of Gold Gloves in a row. Maybe 5 or 6?

Something like that I'm pretty sure.

                    Dwayne.

Come on, Jake, we've discussed this before, you can watch enough footage to realize that the 1984 Tigers were the best defensive unit of that generation, even if it's slightly before your time.
Sandy Koufax was the best lefty I ever saw, and I never saw him pitch live.
You know my style of writing by now, you wise ass you.

I had an old 91 Donruss card of his somewhere. Might have been my first ever baseball card.

                          Nasher,

Koufax only threw 2 pitches : FASTBALL AND CURVE. That's it.

                          How good was he???

Without question, the best lefty I ever saw.

Nash, that's a hell of a comment. I have to look at that further.

I have mentally thought of the 1970 Orioles and 1982 Cardinals as the best defensive teams of the last sixty years. Can't say the 1984 Tigers were on my radar.

In particular, what defensive players were that high on your list? I've long been a Lou Whitaker fan. I really think that Lou was overlooked b/c he didn't talk that much.
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

I now see that Parrish/Whitaker/Trammell each won the Gold Glove that season.

OK. I see what you mean. Lemon's CF range factor was on par with Paul Blair.

There's a reason why my fantasy teams are named "Willy's Ball Busters."

Not for nothing, Jake, I'm going with an expensive SD stack tonight with Gausman on the mound.
I need the SD sticks to produce tonight.

Wish you luck obviously but Coors has historically been a literal house of horrors for the Padres...Rockies are as bad as they have ever been however so hopefully can take care of business against a bad team like your Royals against the Chisox.
