We all grew up banging our heads to this.
        I know I did.

Thank you for the decades of not just musical, but theatrical entertainment as well.
Rough start to the new year for R&R and pop.

One of the greatest rock albums ever made. In my top 10 all-time for sure.

This hits me hard. Bat Out of Hell is my favorite album of all time, the soundtrack of my teenage years. I must have listened to it over 1000 times. 8-track, vinyl, cassette, CD and now, of the 70 or so songs on my phone, all 7 tracks from that album have been on there for about 5 years now.
I’ll be listening to all of them on the ride to work this morning. Heaven Can’t Wait…..rest in peace Meat Loaf. Chris Lee

Extremely underrated in my opinion. Three years or so ago, I saw a musical in London's West End called "Bat Out of Hell", featuring his music. It was fantastic. There was some talk of bringing it to our side of the pond. If anyone gets the chance, see it.

to each his own when it comes to music but its lyrics like this that I love ....

And now the chilly California wind
Is blowing down our bodies again
And we're sinking deeper and deeper
                                  In the chilly California sand

Oh I know you belong inside my aching heart
And can't you see my faded Levis bursting apart
And don't you here me crying
                                  'Oh Babe, don't go?'
And don't you hear me screaming
                                  'How was I to know?'

                                  [Verse 6]
I'm in the middle of nowhere
Near the end of the line
But there's a border to somewhere waiting
And there's a tankful of time
Oh give me just another moment
To see the light of the day
And take me to another land
Where I don't have to stay
                                  And I'm gonna need somebody
To make me feel like you do
                                  And I will receive somebody
                                  With open arms, open eyes
Open up the sky and let the planet
                                  That I love shine through

                                  [Chorus]
                                  For crying out loud
                                  You know I love you
                                  For crying out loud
                                  You know I love you
                                  For crying out loud
                                  You know I love you

                                  You know I love you

                                  [Bridge]
For taking in the rain when I'm feeling so dry
For giving me the answers when I'm asking you why
My oh my, for that I thank you
For taking in the sun when I'm feeling so cold
For giving me a child when my body is old
Don't you know for that I need you

For coming to my room when you know I'm alone
For finding me a highway and for driving me home
                                  And you've gotta know
                                  For that I serve you

For pulling me away when I'm starting to fall
For revving me up when I'm starting to stall
And all in all for that I want you

For taking and for giving and for playing the game
For praying for my future in the days that remain
Oh Lord for that I hold you

                                            "Fight Club"

                                            What's the first rule?

I have several Meatloaf stories, this is one of my favorites.

The NY Times has a penchant for using the prefix 'Mr." in front of peoples names.
For instance when they reviewed "Scent of a Woman" they referred to Al as Mr. Pacino

Awhile back, the Times' reviewed a Meatloaf concert he performed at Madison Square Garden.
The referred to him as Mr. Loaf

                                            Too funny

                                                Karla was hot.
I always had a thing for Patti Russo myself.
Jersey girl was (IMO) the only female foil that could go toe to toe, note for note with Meat.
(Check out the duet between the two at the 2:00 mark)
That's not auto tune, there no video/audio tricks here, that's just two of the all time greats (even though Patti Russo is not a household name) going at it.

IMO, there wasn't a singer alive that had more raw passion, balls to the wall vocal power, that left fukking nothing on the stage.
When Meat sung, you knew it. When Meat sung you got the whole nine yards.

                                                Meatloaf with Patti Russo.
And if that's not great enough that's the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra backing them up, one of the greatest.

My friend convinced me in the 90s that lyric "I'd do anything for love (but I won't do that)..was eating ass.
I would always think about that on the rare occasion I performed that act. RIP Meatloaf (aka. Non-salad tosser)

                                                          He had several problems.
Years and years of throat problems, bleeding throat cancer.
He used to travel with big ass oxygen tanks hooked up directly by the stage out of sight.
                                                          He'd hyperventilate his roadies said.
