Players practice with each other all the time

Fed practices with many of the guys he faced. It allows for players to feel the spin and pace they play with.

If you ever wonder why the first few games do not dictate the whole match, it is usually trying to get acquainted with the pace, spin, etc. the other players with. It is hard to see on TV but they all mix up how flat and how much topspin they hit throughout.
