#737I don't need to read more than this. MJ is an asshole. He's a magnificent asshole, but he's a well-documented asshole. Guess what? If he dies tomorrow, I'm not going to post about how he's an asshole in the thread about his death. That's a really easy concept called TACT. That personal attack and negativity in that moment is completely unnecessary, it accomplishes nothing, and it's a shitty thing to do to the people who have grief over it for whatever reason
Get over yourself. You really have to be "that" person? Please don't. It's utterly pointless and sucks. You can honor the recent dead without glorifying them or suggesting they were a perfect humanComment -

#739Here's my only defense of Shari (which is not easy since having a small town 5 drone on about sun tanning like it makes her the Pope of chilli town is super annoying).
Shari thinks Kobe was a rapist (and an adulterer and shitty dad). For her (I assume), seeing people reminisce and grieve is disgusting.
If OJ died in a car/plane/chopper/stray-tee-shot-on-his-quest-to-find-the-real-killers tomorrow and the people who still believe he didn't commit those murders started up a thread about how amazing he was at USC, or how funny he was in Naked Gun, I'm sure there would be an army of people dancing on his not yet dug grave too with the karma and payback type comments.
So I get the logic of wanting to say that the now deceased was a piece of shit (to you). But posting in an RIP thread for the sake of letting others know you hated the guy, and then trying to brag up your position because you get to go sun tan, doesn't make your opinion any more valid, or your role any more important. It just makes you a troll.Comment -

#745I will respond to you genuinely because you approached it in a polite and genuine manner.
If I had started a thread yesterday and said what do you think of Kobe I know the responses would've ranged from shit to worse shit to bigger than the biggest piece of poo to those who genuinely love him. All good as he was a flawed man.
My whole point in this thread was to say don't turn a flawed human into a martyr. We are all going to die. None of us are perfect nor should we be feted as such in life and especially as a lie after our deaths.
That's it. The same will happen when MJ eventually goes. People like those in this thread will hope to wash over the fact that he hasn't always necessarily been a great person in his private life despite his achievements on the court (let's forget the whole baseball gig). For some reason we raise these people up on a pedestal when your next door neighbour may die tomorrow without so much as a newspaper ad yet she may have brought you muffins once in a while when she had extra.
I've had too many people die the last year, got married, had to do a new will, etc... we're all going to die and I absolutely do not believe one of us is more important than the other. We're all flawed and it's ok to say that no matter what day it is. His family isn't going to read what little shari91 from SBR says nor would they care if they happen to see it because it's the absolute truth from the horse's (his wife's) mouth.
People need to start worshiping those who deserve it in their communities and pay attention to their own backyards instead of pretending to be so cut that an admin at a GAMBLING forum came out and said yes a guy who didn't know your name died but so did another 100 million today. Be thankful you're alive and celebrate in his honour if that's your choice.
You made an emotional, low impulse control mistake and now you're trying to shine up that turd and tell us you gave everyone a gold bar.Comment -

I just don’t get a point in doing this? Especially from someone who completely contradicts themselves about someone in the industry who passed as it was terrible anyone threw salt on tony as well basically have some respectComment -

Firstly the title of this thread isn't a memorial thread, RIP, etc. It simply says Kobe is dead. I did not come into a "RIP thread" as you called it to trash someone. Never have and never will.
I also do not think Kobe's disgusting. I think he treated those who loved him very wrongly and I said so. I have said it many times on this forum and elsewhere and will continue to. For some of you you seem to think that when you die of old age it's no holds barred... let's unleash on this person and say the truth. But God forbid you die young or in an accident... then you're apparently supposed to pretend a person was a saint. Accidents happen every hour of every day. Kids in childrens hospitals die every hour of every day.
Put things into perspective people. Kobe wasn't a saint so stop trying to make him into one when yesterday the majority of you would've used vastly different adjectives to the ones you're using in here. Stop being so bloody hypocritical especially when we can search all of your posts yeah?Comment -

#755I think I Shari is trying to convey a point that Black American male is generally and statistically a deadbeat...with an obscene percent of them incarcerated or with felony records and a more obscene percent of them non existant fathers.
Kobe's personal life was a disaster. He played into the true, but stereotypical black male percentages and if he couldn't jump or shoot he'd be just another statistic in a sad cycle for the black male culture in the US.
However, he leaves this world having created and provided for a family and having earned and paid taxes on, exorbitant income.
Is he a piece of shit?
No....his story is and will remain unfinished.Comment -

It's more the shock that a legend that people have watched for 2 decades who had a huge impact on his sport has died at the somewhat young age of 41 in a very unexpected way, and his young daughter along with 7 others also perished.
Not to sound like a dikk, but there probably aren't many sports figures retired or currently playing whose unexpected accidental death would be such a headlining story as Kobe's.Comment -

#769I don't buy in to the notion we have to know someone for their death to affect us. Hell, seeing the news and hearing of death can be a punch to the gut, even if I never heard of the person. I guess personally, I think "what about their family" and shit like that. I personalize to me, at times, and that can get emotional. If you are the kind of person where a random death doesn't affect you at all, other than in a negative light, than there are a lot of holes that need to be filled.
That said, although I doubt anyone on this board had known Kobe on a personal level, most of use have known about him, heard countless stories of what he did on the court, off the court, marriage, kids ... all that, so in a way, on some level, we do know him. It's not just some random dude who died. Plus it was sudden, and violent, and it involved a father who was hopeless in protecting his own daughter from danger.
That is sad, man.Comment -

#770Lol as if threats have not always been here by moderators. How dare you ever disagree or even argue with them. Yet they can just go hard calling you a moron or whatever the fuk. Funny on the main page for the site not the forum there is massive Kobe tribute lol yet in the forum a mod feels for some reason it was necessary to make it a point to just say he was a piece of shit to his family.....why? I have no idea.Comment
